Evelin's POV
My face went stone cold instantly. "You're reading too much into this. I was just doing my job—protecting him."
Dalton's eyes locked onto my wrist with clear suspicion. Jimmy's fingers were still wrapped around it, his grip firm and possessive.
I could practically see the wheels turning in Dalton's head. 'Sure, I know Evelin's signed on as Mr. Hamilton's bodyguard for some time, but since when does bodyguard duty include hand-holding and sleeping arrangements? Mr. Hamilton never lets anyone get that close when he's vulnerable.'
"Even as his bodyguard, he wouldn't want you staying beside him while he sleeps," Dalton pressed.
After all, Jimmy despised having anyone near him during his most defenseless moments.
"Ask him yourself. He was the one gripping my hand—I couldn't exactly pry myself free," I shot back.
'Seriously, I'm the one who suffered here! Dalton's staring at me like I'm some opportunist who took advantage of Jimmy.'
