Evelin's POV
"Give me time," I said. "Let me stay by your side and show you how much I love you. If you push me away, try to cut ties, you'll never know how deep my feelings run. Don't you think that'd be a shame?"
His gaze flickered, almost imperceptibly.
His eyes flickered, a spark of curiosity and longing igniting.
Of course—deep inside, he wanted to know, just how much I might love him.
He fixed his gaze on me. "Time? How much time are you asking for?"
"Half a year," I said softly. That was the time I'd promised my brother—the months Jimmy needed to donate his stem cells to Alice.
I believed that amount of time would be enough for Jimmy to see that my love was real—genuine, not born out of guilt, not just because he could save Alice.
If I could show him enough true affection, maybe I'd finally be able to soothe his insecurities and make him trust in my heart.
"That's too long," Jimmy said, his voice firm.
I paused, a little taken aback. "Then how much time do you want?"
