"Grace's mother got hurt suddenly back then—it was an emergency. I helped take her to the hospital, so I missed going with Evelin to pick up her parents' ashes," Grey defended himself.
"Hurt? A sprained ankle counts as a serious injury? Seems your 'friend's' mother matters way more than your wife's parents," Allen said coldly.
Most people here were sharp. After working in this circle for so long, nobody bought the "just friends" bullshit.
Especially since Grey had kept his marriage secret before, letting everyone think he was available.
What's more, the Samson were notorious for demanding marital loyalty. Cheating was forbidden in their family, and Allen despised unfaithful bastards more than anything.
So many were already looking at Grey and Grace with pity. They knew these two had come to kiss Allen's ass, but now they'd be lucky if he didn't crush them outright.
