I wasn't about to gamble with those kinds of stakes, but picking a fight with Jimmy right now seemed pointless.
Besides, like he'd made crystal clear, if I really pushed his buttons, there was no telling what he might pull.
None of this had actually gone down yet anyway—it was all still hypothetical.
"Thornvale's gotten pretty sketchy lately. Run into any problems, just hit me up," Jimmy said.
I held his gaze. "What brought you to Thornvale?"
"Would you buy it if I told you I came here chasing leads about your brother?" Jimmy asked. Even if I wanted to cut ties with him, he'd never stopped having his team hunt for answers here in Thornvale.
Especially after remembering he'd spotted Rex in Thornvale before—this place had become the epicenter of his investigation.
A thought struck me suddenly. "Did you have people question the locals near where Jaxson got taken?"
"Yeah, I did. Nothing panned out though," Jimmy replied.
