Evelin's POV
I watched as Amadeus and Margot flinched, caught off guard.
"Grandfather, you... why do you suddenly want us to kneel?" Amadeus's voice wavered.
"Don't you deserve punishment for your behavior at the memorial hall today?" Declan's tone cut through the air.
Margot scrambled for an excuse. "Great-Grandpa, how was I supposed to know that she's truly part of Miller's lineage? Her name doesn't appear in our records, making it easy to get confused.
"Plus, plenty of opportunists try to worm their way into our family, so naturally I couldn't see through the deception."
"Then why didn't you check with your uncles? You might not know if she belongs to Miller's family, but do you think your uncles are equally clueless?" Declan's exasperation was palpable.
Right then, Shane burst through the doors, his face pale and his expression filled with a shock so profound it was as if he'd just received the worst possible news.
