Chapter 55 He Is Not My Husband
I found myself at a loss for words. The doctor had obviously gotten it wrong. "He's not my husband," I said firmly.
I rushed to clarify. This wasn't something to mess around with.
"Then he must be your boyfriend," the doctor told Jimmy. "Don't just stand there. Your girlfriend's hurt and can't manage her shoes. Give her a hand."
I was wearing lace-up sneakers today. The laces were pulled tight, requiring them to be loosened first.
"Doctor, he isn't my—" Before I could get the words out, Jimmy dropped to his knees and lifted my right foot.
"The doctor's got a point. You're injured and can't handle your shoes," he said, his long fingers working at the shoelaces.
I watched in stunned silence as Jimmy removed my right shoe, then my left.
The powerful head of the Hamilton family is actually helping me with my shoes? I thought.
It felt like being hit by a bolt of lightning.
