Chapter 36 - Superman's New Home

New York City Streets

A reporter held a microphone, with a Times Square screen in the background displaying Superman news.

"Good morning, viewers! Superman completely dominated global social media this morning! This mysterious hero launched an unprecedented rescue operation worldwide last night.

We were fortunate enough to interview several citizens who witnessed Superman firsthand."

The camera cut to a young mother holding a child, her eyes red.

Deli's voice trembled, "He saved my daughter… We were trapped on the 23rd floor during a fire, and the smoke had already filled the apartment.

Suddenly, the glass shattered, and he was standing there, like a shadow… He flew down with us in one arm. I could even feel the wind brushing my face, but his arm was as steady as steel."

Reporter: "What kind of person do you think Superman is?"

Deli said without hesitation, "A hero. Without him, Sophia and I would be dead."

The camera cut to the streets of Seoul, where a businessman in a suit gestured excitedly.

Jiang Xiaobai: "When the truck came barreling towards us, I thought we were done for! Then, with a loud boom, the man stopped the truck like a pillar driven into the ground!

The driver was so scared he collapsed in his seat, and all he did was pat the front of the truck and tell him to check the brakes next time. God, he spoke in Korean!"

A refugee camp in the Middle East. An old man knelt before the camera, and a reporter hurried to help him up.

"The shells stopped in mid-air... stopped! He stood in the sky, his black robes billowing like an eagle's wings, and the soldiers' gun barrels were all twisted into pretzels! The children now call him almalak (Angel)."

Under the Eiffel Tower in Paris, a backpacker showed a video on his phone to a reporter.

He shouted excitedly, "Look! I filmed this! The speed at which he caught the backpack even blurred the camera!

I asked for his name, and he turned around and smiled, telling me to call him Superman. This is definitely not a special effect; my phone is an old Nokia!"

Virginia

Senator Stern's Villa

Senator Stern stabbed his silver fork viciously into the fried eggs, splattering the yolk onto the high-definition photo on the front page of the Washington Post.

Xiao Han was suspended in the air at the scene of the fire, with the rescued people behind him.

Stern threw down the newspaper and picked up the phone on the table, dialing, "Investigate immediately! Is this Superman the same person as the Black Armor that was with Stark before!"

The assistant on the other end of the phone spoke in a trembling voice, "Sir, S.H.I.E.L.D. just blocked all the data... But we compared the armor patterns and eyewitness descriptions; the match rate is 99%."

"Also, Stark Industries' stock price has soared 200% due to rumors of cooperation with Alien Technology."

Senator Stern's face was gloomy, and he crushed his coffee cup: "Damn Superpowered Person, the Hearing is in a day. Immediately contact Hammer, change the plan, and start putting pressure on Tony Stark now!"

At this moment, Tony Stark's exclusive interview was playing on Senator Stern's television.

Tony shrugged in front of the reporter, smiling brilliantly: "Superman? Oh, he's my friend. He's a nice guy, but he always drinks all the Red Wine."

"Fuck!!" Senator Stern threw the remote control at the TV.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Confidential Conference Room

Nick Fury's single eye stared at the figure of Xiao Han landing in Antarctica in the satellite footage, while Coulson quickly reported on the side.

"More than 200 global crises have been resolved without any casualties, but the videos taken by the public have already caused panic. The Council demands that we immediately control the situation."

Fury sneered. "Control? You want a bunch of politicians to control a guy who can stop a truck with his bare hands?"

He tossed a stack of files onto the table. "Deal with your own people first. Pierce just had a secret meeting with Lanky. Hydra is trying to undermine us!"

Suddenly, alarms blared, and the screen flashed red.

An agent reported urgently, "Sir! We've detected an anomalous energy signature. Superman is approaching New York at Mach 60."

Fury grabbed his coat and strode toward the door.

"Excellent. Let the world see what a truly uncontrollable variable looks like."

Top of Stark Tower

Xiao Han's figure landed on the terrace, the golden patterns on his Battle Suit gleaming in the sunset.

He had just stepped into the living room when he saw Tony, legs crossed, holding a glass of Red Wine, with a holographic screen displaying global news reports about Superman.

"Having fun, Mr. Savior?" Tony raised an eyebrow, a teasing smile playing on his lips.

"Saved 42 countries in one night, and also helped the Antarctic research station fix their Generator. Jarvis says they're putting you on the penguin protection association's badge now."

Xiao Han removed his Battle Suit, picked up a water glass on the coffee table, and drank it all down. "Penguins?"

He scoffed. "Better send a crate to Senator Stern. He probably needs something cute to lower his blood pressure."

Tony burst out laughing and tossed him a key. "I bought you a Villa on the North Shore of Long Island. Three stories, private beach, and the basement is Lead Shielded according to your specifications, although I don't understand why you need to protect against X-rays."

He winked. "Can't be hiding Kryptonite, can you?"

"Protecting against some peeping Cyclops." Xiao Han took the key, his fingertip tracing the letter S engraved on the key fob.

"Thanks, though."

Tony swirled his glass, suddenly serious. "Senator Stern contacted Hammer Industries today. They're getting ready to make their move."

He scoffed. "What are those guys thinking? Trying to control Superman?"

Xiao Han's eyes flashed with a golden light. "Let him try."

He walked towards the floor-to-ceiling window, the lights of New York flowing beneath him. "I'll be there tomorrow, on time. Dress formally."

Tony raised his glass in a toast. "Need me to prep some special effects? Like you crashing through the roof of the hearing?"

"No need." Xiao Han turned, a dangerous curve on his lips.

"They'll understand soon enough…" He pushed open the glass door, the night wind catching at his clothes.

"So-called supervision is just wishful thinking on the part of humans towards gods."

Before the words had even faded, he had transformed into a black meteor, streaking across the night sky.

North Shore of Long Island Villa

Gentle waves lapped against the private dock. Moonlight bathed the pure white, modern architecture, highlighting its clean lines.

Xiao Han landed in the center of the courtyard. His Black Armor rippled slightly in the night breeze. The sensor lights beneath his feet lit up sequentially with each step, tracing a path toward the villa.

He pushed open the heavy walnut door. The smart home system silently activated, and soft light flowed from the concealed light troughs, illuminating the six-meter-high living room.

Through the floor-to-ceiling window, the night over the Atlantic Ocean was fully visible, the waves breaking into silver flakes under the moonlight.

"Welcome home, sir," the AI Butler's voice said gently. The temperature automatically adjusted to a most comfortable 22 degrees Celsius, and electronic flames danced with an orange-red glow in the fireplace.

Xiao Han pressed the S on his chest, and his armor retracted automatically, forming a multi-functional watch on his left wrist.

He revealed the black combat overalls underneath, his boots clicking on the grey-veined marble floor.

On the open kitchen's island, there was a bottle of freshly decanted Red Wine, next to a note left by Tony.

"1982 Lafite, better with a night view than your freeze breath. TS"

He chuckled softly, picking up the wine glass and walking towards the floor-to-ceiling window.

The villa employed minimalist design, with black, white, and grey tones accented by dark gold metal trim, understated yet luxurious.

A floating staircase on one side of the living room led to the second floor, glass railings making the space even more transparent.

The master bedroom on the second floor continued the same style, a King-Size bed facing the floor-to-ceiling window. The electric curtains slowly opened, revealing the boundless seascape.

In the walk-in closet, custom suits prepared by Tony hung, each one ironed to perfection.

Basement.

The elevator doors slid open silently, revealing a private training ground that rivaled a Stark Industries lab.

A target range made of alloy, a simulated gravity chamber, and a holographic combat system were all available. There was even a miniature solar lamp array in the corner, obviously designed by Tony specifically for his energy needs.

Xiao Han walked to the glass wall at the edge of the training ground and pressed a hidden button.

The wall slowly lowered, revealing an infinity pool that extended into the sea. The pool floor was covered with a special material that changed color with body temperature, shimmering with a faint blue light under the moonlight.

He took off his shirt and jumped into the water, the water flowing over his muscular body.

As he turned at the end of the pool, the smart lighting in the entire villa switched to starlight mode. The ceiling projected a realistic galaxy, blending with the real sea and starry sky in the distance.

"Not bad."

Xiao Han leaned against the edge of the pool, tapping his fingers lightly on the rim of his glass.

The rich aroma of the Red Wine mingled with the sea breeze, and the Smart Home System played a low, melancholic piano tune.

At this moment, as Superman, he finally had a home worthy of him.
