Chapter 62 - One night

Giyuu shakes his head stubbornly, now fully awake.

"I'm not tired anymore. And I need to use the bathroom."

He tries to sit up, but Sanemi keeps him firmly in place with a displeased grunt.

"You're always so stubborn. Fine, but I'm coming with you."

He reluctantly loosens his grip, knowing Giyuu will just try to get up anyway.

"I can go by myself, I'm not an invalid."

Giyuu protests weakly, though he doesn't make any move to leave the bed yet.

"Last time you said that, you passed out in the hallway. I'm not taking any chances."

He sits up and swings his legs over the side of the bed, waiting for Giyuu to follow.

"That was one time..."

He mumbles, clearly embarrassed about the incident. He finally sits up, leaning heavily against Sanemi. Sanemi helps Giyuu stand, wrapping an arm around his waist to support him.

"One time too many. Now move your ass before I carry you again."

He guides Giyuu toward the bathroom, his tone gruff but protective. They make their way to the bathroom slowly, Giyuu leaning against Sanemi for support.

Once inside, Sanemi leans against the wall outside the door.

"I'll be right here. Don't lock the door."

He says firmly, crossing his arms as he waits. Giyuu enters the bathroom and closes the door with a click. Sanemi can hear him moving around inside, the sound of water running.

"Don't take too long, idiot."

He calls out, tapping his foot impatiently. His eyes narrow at the door, still worried about Giyuu's condition. A few minutes pass, and Sanemi grows increasingly concerned. He knocks on the door.

"Oi, Giyuu. You alive in there? If you're not out in 30 seconds, I'm coming in."

He threatens, his protective instincts flaring up again. The door opens, revealing Giyuu looking slightly pale but otherwise okay.

"I'm fine, I was just washing my face."

He steps out, his hair now damp from splashing water.

"You look like you're about to pass out again. Let's get back to bed."

He grabs Giyuu's arm again, noticing how cold his skin feels. Sanemi practically carries Giyuu back to bed, his expression darkening with worry.

"Damn it, you're freezing. Why didn't you say anything?"

He tucks Giyuu back under the covers, pulling him close again to share his warmth. Giyuu burrows into Sanemi's chest, seeking warmth and comfort.

"You're impossible. Always hiding when you're not feeling well."

He wraps his arms around Giyuu, rubbing his back to generate heat. Giyuu mumbles something incoherent against Sanemi's chest, his body gradually warming up from Sanemi's touch.

"What was that? Speak up properly."

He tilts Giyuu's chin up to look at his face, checking for any signs of fever. Giyuu's eyes are half-lidded, exhaustion evident in his features.

"I said... you're warm."

He admits softly, nuzzling closer to Sanemi like a cat seeking affection. Sanemi rolls his eyes but can't help the small smile that forms on his lips.

"Of course I am. You're like an ice cube right now."

He holds Giyuu tighter, his fingers gently massaging the back of Giyuu's neck.

"Mmm... don't stop that."

He sighs contentedly, his body finally relaxing completely against Sanemi's.

Sanemi continues the neck massage, enjoying the small sounds of pleasure Giyuu makes.

"You're like a spoiled brat, you know that?"

He teases, though he continues his ministrations without hesitation.

"Only for you..."

Giyuu's voice trails off as he starts to drift back to sleep, his breathing evening out once more. Sanemi watches as Giyuu falls asleep again, his expression softening with affection.

"Sleep well, you annoying bastard."

He whispers, pressing a kiss to Giyuu's forehead before settling in for the night, determined to keep his lover warm and safe.

Nezuko's quiet footsteps catch Sanemi's attention, and he tenses slightly, protective instincts flaring up again.

"What are you doing here, kid?"

He whispers harshly, not wanting to wake Giyuu up again. Nezuko holds up a glass of water and points at Giyuu, silently communicating her intention to help.

"He's sleeping. Put it on the nightstand."

He gestures with his chin, his eyes never leaving her as she approaches. Nezuko sets the glass down carefully and nods at Sanemi before leaving as quietly as she came.

"Good girl."

He mutters, slightly impressed by her thoughtfulness. He checks the water temperature to make sure it's not too cold before settling back down. Sanemi's eyes widen in surprise as Nezuko climbs onto the bed, positioning herself near Giyuu's feet.

"Hey! What did I just say about waking him up?"

He hisses, but there's a hint of amusement in his voice at her persistence. Nezuko looks up at Sanemi with big, pleading eyes and pats the space next to her.

"You're as stubborn as him, aren't you?"

He sighs in defeat, realizing she won't leave until she gets her way. Sanemi reluctantly shifts to make room for her, careful not to disturb Giyuu.

"Fine. But if he wakes up complaining, you're explaining it to him."

He grumbles, resigned to sharing the bed with two stubborn sleepers now.

Nezuko curls up beside Giyuu's legs, looking satisfied. She looks at Sanemi and pats the spot next to her again, wanting him to get closer.

"You're lucky you're cute."

He mutters, scooting over so that they're all in a line, like a strange family cuddle pile.

Giyuu stirs slightly at the movement, his arm unconsciously reaching out to touch Sanemi's arm. He mumbles something about food.

"Great, now he's dreaming about food too."

Sanemi shakes his head, watching as Nezuko giggles silently at Giyuu's sleep-talking.

The first rays of sunlight begin to filter through the window, illuminating the unusual scene.

"Morning already? This is going to be a long day."

He stretches carefully, still sandwiched between Nezuko and Giyuu. The sound of someone else moving around the house can be heard, probably Genya getting ready for work. The smell of breakfast begins to waft in.

"I can smell Genya's cooking. At least one of us knows how to make a proper meal."

He grumbles, remembering how many times Giyuu's attempts at cooking have resulted in smoke alarms going off. Giyuu stirs again, this time fully waking up. He blinks at the unusual sight of Nezuko on the bed.

"Nezuko... what are you doing here?"

His voice is still hoarse from sleep, and he looks confused but not upset. Nezuko sits up and points at Sanemi, then at Giyuu, then back at herself, trying to explain the situation.

"She thought you needed a bed warmer. Apparently I wasn't doing my job properly."

He smirks at Giyuu, enjoying the fact that he can blame someone else for the current arrangement Tanjiro bursts into the room, his face showing clear distress as he spots his sister.

"Nezuko! I was so worried! Why didn't you tell me you were coming here?"

He rushes over to her, checking for any signs of trouble. Nezuko just smiles innocently at Tanjiro, patting the spot beside her invitingly.

"Relax, she's fine. She's been here all night."

He rolls his eyes at Tanjiro's overprotectiveness, remembering how the younger boy used to be when they first met. Tanjiro sighs in relief but still looks slightly suspicious.

"You could have woken me up to let me know."

He says to Nezuko, who simply shrugs and leans against Giyuu instead. Giyuu awkwardly pats Nezuko's head, still not fully awake enough to handle the morning chaos.

"Tch, she's not a prisoner, Tanjiro. She can move around the house if she wants."

He gets out of bed, stretching again and ruffling Tanjiro's hair as he passes by. Sanemi notices Giyuu's eyes closing again and shakes his head.

"Oi, Giyuu! No going back to sleep. Breakfast is ready."

He grabs Giyuu's shoulder and starts pulling him up into a sitting position. Giyuu groans in protest, but Sanemi's grip is firm.

"You're such a pain in the ass. Come on, get up before I carry you downstairs."

He threatens with a playful glint in his eyes, knowing Giyuu hates being carried.
