Jasmin's POV
The ancient curse demanded a sacrifice to be broken. Those words from the crumbling leather note burned in my memory. Blood offered to the grave would summon the spirit. Once it abandoned its host, it would hunt for a new vessel. Mine. Then I would have mere seconds to destroy it.
The malevolent presence bound to that cursed ground could not survive beyond the mountain's borders. If I crossed the boundary shrouded in mist and fell to my death, the evil would perish with me.
That was my only option. To rescue Clyde, I had to welcome the curse into my body and hurl myself from the precipice.
Wind shrieked around me like razor-sharp voices as I plummeted. Bitter cold sliced through my skin. The fog surged upward like spectral fingers, wrapping around me as though it already owned my soul.
