The training course sprawled ahead like something designed by a sadist with a twisted imagination. Massive barriers jutted from the earth, treacherous pits yawned like hungry mouths, spiked logs swung on chains, and thick mud covered everything like dried blood under the harsh morning sun.
This wasn't just another test. This was a carefully orchestrated massacre waiting to happen. The stench of terror mixed with sweat and dirt hung heavy in the air.
Alphas gathered at the starting line, some flashing arrogant smiles while others vibrated with barely contained energy, ready to spring into action.
I tugged at my oversized training gear, drew in a calming breath, and locked my focus on the first obstacle looming before us.
Alpha Alonzo's command sliced through the tension like a razor.
