Chapter 17 - Transaction successful!

He walked ahead, and Bai Li followed at a slow pace. The dining space was right next to the living room, separated only by a smooth counter. The table could easily seat eight people. The chairs were cushioned in soft gray fabric, and a crystal-like light fixture hung right above the center.

The kitchen itself was sleek. Everything looked modern and sharp, the counters dark marble, the walls lined with simple cream tiles, and the cabinets all fitted neatly into the walls. There was even a touch screen display above the sink that could control the lights and temperature.

The building manager smiled as he talked. "Every appliance here is new, and the space at the back connects to the service balcony. You can use it for laundry or for keeping storage. There's even a small space that can be used as a pantry."

Bai Li didn't show much expression, but her eyes flicked over each area, quiet and thoughtful. She took in how wide the kitchen was, the easy layout, the simple movements between the stove, the counter, and the back balcony.

They moved down a small hallway that led to the bedrooms. The first door opened to a guest room. It was clean and bright, with a small desk near the window and a built-in wardrobe. The floor here was wooden, not marble, which made it feel warmer.

The manager opened another door. "This one is one of the main bedrooms. As you can see, each room has its own bathroom. The mirrors are smart glass, and the shower systems are already installed."

Bai Li took a few steps inside. The bed was placed near the window, the curtains half drawn, allowing a soft golden light to spill across the sheets. There was a small balcony connected to the side, overlooking the complex garden below.

She stopped there for a few seconds, her gaze calm and steady. It was quiet, exactly how she liked it.

"Let's go upstairs," the manager said after a moment. "The duplex part starts from here."

They went back to the living room where a curved staircase led up to the second level. The railing was smooth steel, the steps made of light brown wood that gave a nice contrast to the white walls. The upper floor opened into a small lounge area, with a low sofa and a bookshelf built into the corner. The ceiling was slightly lower here, but the windows stretched wide, showing the view outside from a higher angle.

"This space can be used however you like," the manager said, his voice carrying a hint of excitement. "Some owners use it as a study or reading corner. It's peaceful here, especially at night."

He then led her to the main bedroom upstairs. It was much larger than the rest. The walls were painted a soft off-white, and the light filtering in through the curtains made everything look calm. A glass door led to a private balcony, and from there, she could see the whole line of buildings stretching into the distance.

The manager stood near the doorway, clearly pleased. "You can even see the sunrise from here every morning. It's one of the best views in this entire complex."

Bai Li stood there for a while, saying nothing. She didn't smile much, but her eyes softened, and for a brief moment, her face carried a faint look of quiet satisfaction. She could already picture herself here, silent mornings, the world far below, no one to disturb her peace. Well, though, peace would be non-existent in the near future but the feeling was still nice.

The manager continued to show her a few more rooms, a smaller bedroom that could be turned into storage, a compact office area, and a bathroom with clean white tiles and a wide mirror. Every space looked simple but perfectly arranged.

After a short while, they returned to the living room again. The afternoon light had shifted, spilling across the marble floor. The air felt still and quiet.

"So," the manager said, breaking the silence, "what do you think, Miss Bai?"

Bai Li turned her head slightly, her calm eyes meeting his. Then she gave a small nod and said, "I'll take it."

The manager's face lit up instantly. "Wonderful! You've made a great choice. We can handle the paperwork right away."

Bai Li nodded and said,

"Ok but I would like to move in as early as today. I won't delay at all."

'Haha.. Today's younger generation are really much more efficient than us old fools. 'The manager was quite surprised at how fast she works and makes decision and couldn't help but praise her in her mind,

: "Of course, Miss Bai! Let's get to work."

Afterwards, he pulled out a thick stack of documents from his side bag and placed them on a small glass table in the living room.

After half an hour, the transaction was successfully done.

The building manager held the property contract and gave it a look before saying with a smile,

"Ok, miss Bai. As you know, the total market value of this property stands at 25 million yuan. According to the contract, you need to pay 10 million yuan in downpayment for now. The rest will be paid in installments every month for the next 10 years. Please go ahead and transfer the money to this account."

Bai Li nodded, took out her phone and transferred the amount to the account mentioned given the manager.

After a minute, the manager received the full amount and immediately beamed with a smile. He quickly uploaded the digital contract to the system and relevant govt. Bodies and handed one part of the physical contact to Bai Li and extended his hands towards Bai Li.

: "Happy cooperation, Miss Bai. From now on, this property is rightfully yours."

Bai Li also gave a curt nod as she shook his hands,

"Much appreciated."

Afterwards, the building manager said,

"Okay. Now that the transaction has been successful, Miss Bai.
