Rei couldn't hear anything but droplets of water. He couldn't pinpoint what direction it was coming from. But it echoed everywhere in each drop. He couldn't see anything, but knew he was conscious. Even so, he couldn't feel his body either.
That's right, he thought. There was a man named Eliot.
"Hello?" he finally voiced. It echoed as well, though he was sure it didn't come from his mouth. He tried wiggling his hands to no avail. He couldn't even feel his toes. It felt as though he was just an energy, suspended in nothingness.
Then there were voices. Two. One was very manly, the other seemed feminine.
"Is that even possible?" said the manly one, cowardice laced in his voice.
"One might wonder," the feminine one answered nonchalantly. "T'was a direct hit. Any other witch or wizard would've died."
"He didn't. What's that supposed to mean?" the man answered, half exclaimed. "It has been a week, Dr. Ortega. His stats should've been dropping four days ago."
"I am well aware, Dr. Ilagan. I lead this observation. He is just a mystery left unsolved, that's all."
Another voice added. "What's the status?" It was smooth and very manly.
"Niflheim, everything's—"
A violent beeping sound like an alarm interrupted him.
"Shit!" cussed Dr. Ilagan.
"What's happening?" asked Niflheim.
"Everything's going up! Reading's off the charts!" yelled Dr. Ortega. Slowly, the voices were starting to sound muffled. "Don't worry. We'll do everything. Stay with us."
"Wait. What's happening?" Rei yelled, "Hello?"
Nobody answered, and the voices started to fade away.
"What's going on?"
Rei turned in every direction, trying to find the source of the voices to no avail. The voices were fading gradually, and so was his.
"Where am I? Help me!" he cried. His voice, now close to none. "HELP ME!"
