Chapter 791 - Side Story — Betsy Greengrass 5

Side Story — Betsy Greengrass 5

"Betsy, I heard that you used this incident to make the Greengrass family a fortune at the Ministry of Magic. Looks like you really have let go.

"I'm not as sensible as you. I still find myself thinking about her all the time. I wonder if there's a young lady out there who would be willing to deal with my parents together with me?"

Byrd sat in the Slytherin common room, holding a glass of butterbeer as he spoke with a smile.

Betsy didn't know whether he was still trying to test her.

But she subconsciously shook her head.

"Anyway, don't look for me. I still want to protect my reputation and find someone from a more prestigious family."

"You could try Miss Warley. I heard the Warley family is quite open-minded, and her parents are very open-minded too."

She had heard that during the summer holiday, Mrs. Warley had asked around about the Potter cubs.

Nor had they forced Miss Warley to transfer schools.

They were both Death Eater families, but their family was obviously much more open-minded.

That made Betsy a little envious.

But she immediately hid those feelings.

Like all the noble ladies in their circle, she covered her lips and mocked, "I want to follow the example of the good Warley family!"

"Oh no, Betsy, don't mock me like that. I've already asked Miss Warley."

"She said she'd rather fall in love with an idiot than even look at me…"

"That's actually quite an accurate description."

Betsy snorted.

But suddenly, Byrd took out a photo ball.

"Ah, Betsy, you've been paying attention to other things these past few days, so you probably haven't seen the photo ball yet. This just came out this morning. Come on, take a look…"

Betsy turned around and saw that quite a few people were secretly watching the photo ball.

"I don't want to watch something like a Muggle television series…"

She stopped halfway through her sentence.

Because Byrd had already released the contents of the photo ball.

The image appeared in the air.

And she happened to see the Potter cub kneeling there, his face covered in blood.

Her body trembled.

"Look, Betsy. You're no more noble than I am!"

There was obvious malice in Byrd's voice.

Betsy didn't want to hear it.

She stared at the images until they finally disappeared.

Only then did it feel as though she could breathe again.

"You didn't shed a single tear. I thought you'd be even more devastated than they were, but you didn't show anything…"

Byrd's malicious voice continued to ring in Betsy's ears.

Betsy wanted to say that she didn't feel anything.

But the moment she turned around, she saw the Potter cub walk in.

She stood up abruptly.

"Darren…"

There were countless things she wanted to tell him.

But suddenly, she found that she had nothing to say.

She could only watch him leave, looking exhausted.

Betsy closed her eyes and sank dejectedly back into her chair.

"Why him? How could it be him?"

He was just a little fool. Why did the Death Eaters have to choose him?

Death Eaters…

Betsy suddenly froze.

She looked at the figures of the two people in the photo.

It seemed that Dad and Mom were still there!

Were they involved?

Could one of them be among the Death Eaters?

The Ministry of Magic hadn't found a single trace of the Death Eaters so far. Could it be that they had been looking in the wrong direction?

Could those Death Eaters be the parents of some Slytherin students?

The ones who had escaped punishment back then?

Betsy could hardly face the possibility.

She staggered back to her bedroom.

Even though her heart was in turmoil, she remained calm and took out a piece of parchment to write a letter to her family.

Her tone was steady. She merely asked, almost casually, whether two of the Death Eaters were them.

But in the end, she didn't send the letter.

If it really were them, could she be righteous and destroy her own family?

She couldn't.

Seventeen years of nurturing.

Even if they were Death Eaters, they had never failed to love her.

So what was the point of sending the letter?

It would only add to the sorrow.

Betsy crumpled the letter in her hand.

Then she returned to the Slytherin common room.

She immediately and harshly ordered the Slytherin students to quiet down and stop watching photo balls in the common room.

She took out a copy of The Unspoken Rules of the Ministry of Magic and began reading.

It was long overdue.

What kind of love could a Death Eater possibly have?

She was already a little Death Eater herself, and she was already dirty!

Byrd was surprised by her sudden change.

"I thought you'd need a long time to calm down. Why did you come back so quickly? You…"

"Enough. You don't need to worry about my affairs, and I don't need you to care about who I am."

"I hope I won't hear another word from you about this in the future. Otherwise, I'll cut out your tongue and graduate immediately. Don't make me angry. Get lost!"

Betsy discovered that she felt surprisingly good after venting.

If she had been this decisive from the beginning, perhaps she wouldn't have been left speechless whenever she was around the Potter cub.

Maybe…

Forget it.

Why bother thinking about it?

She would simply do what she wanted. She didn't have to explain herself to anyone!

Potter's trial was over.

Potter had also come up with the theory of turning a Squib into a wizard.

Potter was praised for it.

Even the professors urged him to hurry up and study the potion, so that the whole world could learn about Potter.

Potter began delving into Potions.

Potter didn't rest at all, working like a madman every day.

Potter disappeared again.

Potter was found again.

Potter returned covered in scars.

The potion finally succeeded.

Potter…

Betsy began hearing a great deal of news about the Potter cub, intentionally or otherwise.

Most of it was brought to her by Byrd.

Ever since she had yelled at him, that guy had stopped making those strange, sarcastic remarks. Instead, he was always bringing her some piece of news about Potter.

Sometimes Betsy listened.

Sometimes she didn't.

Most of the time, she didn't.

There were other girls in the common room who brought news as well, and they spoke in much greater detail than Byrd did.

Betsy listened expressionlessly, as though none of it had anything to do with Potter.

She even heard many of the girls call her cold-blooded.

Oh, yes.

How cold-blooded she was!

She didn't even change her expression!

Until…

Hogwarts was finally about to close for the year.

Because the youngest Weasley girl from Gryffindor had been captured, Betsy subconsciously wanted to go looking for that guy.

That stupid fellow would definitely try to sneak out and save her.

No way!

Not this time!

The Heir of Slytherin had gone this far, and it seemed he really wanted to kill someone.

With his little bit of ability, wouldn't he just be throwing himself into danger?

Fortunately, the Head of House caught him.

The next day, Hogwarts was going to send all the students home.

Betsy knew that guy's temperament, so she locked the train compartment door.

She thought that would keep the guy from running off.

Who would have thought that he actually managed to escape anyway?

He even saved Hogwarts.

"I heard Lockhart can't move his whole body now. How pitiful!"

Byrd showed a little sympathy.

Betsy nodded in agreement.

"Yes. That's really pitiful."

Poor thing.

She wanted to laugh so badly!

And so she really did laugh.

She was like a joke.

From beginning to end, she hadn't participated in any of it!

"Hey, tell me about it. Just how pitiful is he? Is he completely alone? Could he not even summon the courage to struggle?"

Betsy covered her mouth and asked with a manic smile.
