Chapter 30 - Life Saving Medicine ( 1 )

Yao Zhi was famished and didn't bother to change places. Sitting on the low stool, she ate the noodles blissfully. After breakfast, Yao Zhi felt energized and looked at the barren backyard.

Unlike the front yard, her backyard was connected to the mountain foothills area. While the land was larger, the soil was drier. What's more, she didn't pour her bathwater in the backyard, so the soil was unsuitable for growing vegetables.

She thought for a moment before an idea flashed into her mind. Since she had a river in her system's farmland, she didn't have to worry about running out of water. If the soil was too dry, she only needed to water it until it was suitable for planting.

Reaching this conclusion, she opened her system and clicked on the farmland's settings. Besides the black soil, she could also manage the river through the setting panel.

"System, can I draw the river water using a hose?" she asked.

She thought that the system wouldn't answer her. Unexpectedly, she heard the mechanical voice echoing in her mind.

"Host, you can draw the water directly using the hose. To connect the river water with the water hose, you only need to pay ten thousand points."

When she heard the first sentence, Yao Zhi was delighted. But when she heard the last sentence, she was speechless. Although she knew that her system was no different than a bandit, she couldn't do anything to it.

Thinking about the convenience, she gritted her teeth and paid the fee. She could earn more points in the future. It was okay to spend these points.

As soon as she paid the points, a water faucet appeared near the river in the system's farmland. Seeing this, Yao Zhi bought a fifty-meter-long water hose from the system shop for five points.

After she connected the water house to the water faucet, Yao Zhi held the other end and started spraying the ground with water.

She thought that it would take a long time for her to moisten the cracked ground. Unexpectedly, in less than an hour, the dried soil was moistened and looked fertile.

After she put the hose back into the system's farmland, Yao Zhi started plowing the backyard. While the backyard was large, she only plowed around two hundred square meters of land.

Although the land was no longer as hard as before, it still took her several hours to finish the work. When she was done, her clothes were drenched with sweat, and she was panting heavily.

Feeling tired, she took out the spiritual spring jade bottle, put a drop of spiritual spring into a bowl, and added boiled water. She mixed the water for a moment and finished it in several gulps.

In less than a second, she felt warm energy spreading in her body, and her fatigue was lessened by more than half. Taking out her watch from the warehouse, she checked the time and put it back.

It was three o'clock in the afternoon, and she still had to plant the seedlings. Fearing that the sky would darken if she took a long rest, Yao Zhi ate two steamed buns and continued working.

When the sun had slanted to the west, she finally finished planting the last seedlings.

In the backyard, she planted cabbage, white radish, carrot, and eggplant. Each type took a 45 m² area. Besides the vegetables, she used a 20 m² area to plant scallion, garlic, onion, pepper, ginger, chili, and other seasonings.

After planting for the whole day, Yao Zhi was feeling sore all over her body. Since she was living alone, she could only drag her tired body and boil water for a bath.

Only when the moon hung high in the sky did she finish bathing. She didn't even bother to eat and went to sleep directly.

While she was snoring loudly, her husband, Fu Chen'an, was fighting the barbarians in the border town.

The sound of metal colliding echoed sharply in the area, mixed with the sound of the soldiers shouting. The ground was covered with corpses and stained red from the warm blood.

At this moment, Fu Chen'an's eyes were bloodshot as he saw that one of his comrades' chests was pierced by the barbarian's curved blade. Seeing this, he let out a roar and swung his blade, chopping off two barbarians' heads instantly.

Warm blood splashed on his face, dyeing his clothes crimson. But at this moment, he has no time to worry about this. He only wanted to rush over and save his brother.

When a group of barbarians saw him rush over, they thrust their spears at him. Seeing the incoming attack, Fu Chen'an raised his blade and blocked the spears.

CLANG!

The sharp metal sound echoed as sparks flew. He glared at the barbarians in front of him coldly.

With a roar, he pushed his blade forward, causing the barbarians to lose their footing. Seizing the opportunity, he swung his blade and killed the group of barbarians.

After killing another group of barbarians, he finally managed to rush over. Seeing his brother coughing up a mouthful of blood, Fu Chen'an said, "Xiao Wei, hold on! I will bring you back!"

Without waiting for his response, he carried Xiao Wei on his back and used his belt to secure him tightly before he continued to fight the enemies. He didn't know how much time had passed before the barbarians finally retreated.

At this moment, he could feel that Xiao Wei's breath was shallow, as if he would die at any moment. While he was panicking, he noticed the gourd tied on his waist.

Recalling the effect of the medicinal water, he quickly untied the bed. Holding Xiao Wei, he forcefully opened his mouth and fed the water to his brother.

Seeing that he was not responding, Fu Chen'an shouted, "Xiao Wei, don't sleep! Quick, drink this water!"

His hands were trembling as he held the gourd. He thought that with Xiao Wei's condition, he wouldn't be able to swallow the water. But the moment the water entered his mouth, he managed to swallow it unconsciously.
