Chapter 5 - CHAPTER : 5 COME

A green light spread throughout the entire house, a glow so bright that it could even be seen from far away.

As the light slowly faded, Kondo's legs began to tremble. The butler quickly stepped forward from behind, catching him before he could fall and gently seating him on a chair.

Kondo held his head and asked in confusion,

"W-What just happened… all of a sudden?"

The butler smiled and replied,

"Young master, you just performed a high-scale healing magic."

Shin looked extremely happy. She smiled at Kondo and said,

"See? I told you that you could do it! Your magic must be even greater than an S-rank mage, right, Mom?"

Shin turned toward her mother.

Her mother had already stood up from the bed.

For a few seconds, Shin froze in place. Then she ran toward her mother, hugged her tightly, and began to cry.

At that moment Shin's mother said,

"Thank you very much for saving me from such a terrible illness. But… you haven't told us your name."

Shin wiped her tears and said,

"Mom, he is Kondo, the son of our kingdom's financial minister, Mr. Sam."

Hearing this, Shin's mother became slightly shocked.

Shin continued,

"And Mom, he even gave me five gold coins."

Shin's mother immediately lowered her head and said respectfully,

"If my daughter or I have made any mistake, please forgive us. We will always remain grateful for your kindness."

Kondo quickly stood up from the chair.

"W-What are you doing? Please don't do that! You should rest. You have only just recovered."

Then Kondo looked at Shin and said,

"By the way, Shin… I don't really have any friends… so… would you like to become my friend?"

Shin smiled brightly and replied,

"Yes, of course."

Hearing this, Kondo felt happy.

After a while, Kondo and the butler prepared to leave.

Shin stood at the doorway, watching them walk away.

Suddenly she called out to Kondo.

Kondo and the butler, who had already gone some distance away, turned back.

Shin ran toward Kondo and suddenly hugged him tightly.

Kondo was shocked. He gently pushed Shin away and asked,

"H-Hey, what are you doing, Shin? What happened?"

Shin lowered her head and said softly,

"I slapped you earlier… but even after that… you still helped me so much."

Hearing this, Kondo smiled slightly.

"Well Shin… when one friend helps another friend, does there really need to be a reason?"

Hearing that, Shin felt happy.

Kondo then continued,

"Oh, and one more thing. Be ready tomorrow. I'll come and take you to my house so we can play together."

Shin looked a little surprised, but she was also happy to hear it.

After saying goodbye to Shin, Kondo left.

Soon, Kondo and the butler reached the outskirts of the city. They got into the carriage and began their journey home.

It was getting dark.

As the carriage moved forward, a worry kept troubling Kondo.

(Will Mom scold me…?)

At that moment the butler asked,

"Young master, how did you manage to perform such high-level magic?"

Kondo replied,

"I… can't really explain it. It just… happened on its own."

The butler looked at him suspiciously.

"I see. In that case, young master, I will ask Ms. Lawine about this."

Hearing this, Kondo immediately became nervous.

"No! Butler, you must not tell Mom about this!"

"But why, young master? Ms. Lawine would be very happy to know that you can use high-level magic at such a young age."

Kondo stuttered nervously,

"I-I… well… yes! I want to surprise Mom. That's why I'll tell her myself later. So you don't need to worry about it."

"Very well, young master. As you wish. I will not tell Ms. Lawine."

After some time, they arrived home.

Kondo jumped out of the carriage and quietly opened the door so no one would notice him.

When he entered the house, he saw four maids standing in front of him.

They were about to say something, but Kondo quickly interrupted them.

"Shhh! No need to make noise… By the way, where is Mom?"

At that moment he heard a voice.

"I'm right here."

Kondo looked in that direction and saw Lawine sitting on a sofa.

Lawine walked toward him.

Kondo looked nervous.

Lawine pulled his ear and said,

"Didn't I tell you to come home before evening?"

"Ow! Mom, it hurts! I'm sorry! It won't happen again! I won't stay out playing with my friend for so long next time!"

Lawine released his ear.

"Oh? You made a friend already? Who is it?"

"Mom… he's not richer than us, but he belongs to a very good family."

"Alright, alright. Now go and take a bath. I'll prepare dinner."

"Okay, Mom."

Kondo started walking upstairs toward his room.

But something else was running through his mind.

(Good thing Mom didn't get suspicious… otherwise I would've been caught. Now I need to figure out how to bring Shin to our house.)

Kondo stopped there while thinking.

Lawine noticed him and said,

"Why are you still standing there?"

"I-I'm going!"

Kondo quickly ran toward his room.

Later, while eating dinner at the dining table, Kondo asked,

"Mom, is Dad not coming home today either?"

Lawine looked at him and said,

"Yes, dear. He had some work at the royal palace. It might take him a long time. You eat first. When he returns, we'll eat together."

She placed some rice on Kondo's plate.

"Yes, Mom. (Dad spends most of his time at the royal palace. Usually it's just Mom and me alone at home.)"

Then Kondo asked another question,

"Mom… don't we have any relatives? I've never met anyone."

Hearing this, Lawine became quiet.

She sat down on the chair beside him and said,

"We do have relatives, Kondo… but… when I married your father against my family's wishes, they stopped talking to me."

After saying that, Lawine fell silent.

Kondo became a little upset.

(It seems my question made Mom sad…)

He moved his chair closer to her and said,

"Mom, I'm sorry. My question made you upset."

Lawine looked at him and smiled, placing her hand on his head.

"Who said I'm upset? You are very special to us. Now finish your meal. It's time for you to sleep."

"Yes, Mom."

Kondo went upstairs to his room.

He sat on his bed, holding a magic book, and began thinking.

(Maybe… I can actually use magic now.)

(The books I have contain normal magic… things like creating water, lifting soil into the air, or releasing thunder shocks. They explain how to perform these spells… but whenever I try them, nothing happens.)

Kondo stretched out his hand and tried again.

But no matter how much he focused, nothing happened.

"I wonder how I managed to use that healing magic…"

Kondo lay down on his bed.

"Hmph… I don't know how I'll survive in a world like this… but forget it. This is my second life, so I'll enjoy it fully."

Thinking this, Kondo slowly fell asleep.

Deep within a vast forest of the Lervand Kingdom, a soldier wearing armor was running in terror.

"Help… ahh… someone help me!"

While running, his foot suddenly struck something and he fell to the ground.

He quickly stood up and began swinging his sword wildly in the air.

"Stay away from me! I'll kill you!"

His voice trembled with fear.

"Who are you? What did I ever do to you? Please… let me go!"

Suddenly a voice echoed in his ears.

"I really like people like you… people who only think about themselves."

Then he heard laughter.

"Vhaahaha… hahaha…"

The soldier became even more terrified.

"But I did exactly what you told me… I even killed my friend just like you said… p-please let me go…"

Then his friend's head comes rolling towards him,

His sword fell from his hand.

He collapsed onto the ground, covering his head in fear.

His entire body was trembling, and sweat covered his face.

He began blaming himself.

"Why… why did I come here…? No… no… won't anyone save me?"

Suddenly black smoke gathered in front of him.

From within the smoke, a demon appeared.

It had two small horns, black hair, long nails, a small fang protruding from its mouth, golden eyes, and a red line running through the middle of them.

The demon wore a maid outfit.

Then it changed its form into a beautiful woman and said,

"Good thing I killed and devoured that woman earlier… otherwise finding and killing someone like you would have been very troublesome for me."

"Hehehe… now after devouring your soul, I will become even stronger."

The demon began laughing.

Hearing that laughter, the soldier became extremely frightened. His teeth were chattering loudly.

He tried to stand up and run away.

But his legs stopped working.

The demon placed its hand on the man's shoulder.

Then it tore its mouth open into two horrifying halves, stretching it wide while its long tongue slipped out.

The demon began devouring the man alive.

The soldier screamed loudly.

Soon, blood covered everything around them.

After finishing the man, the demon snapped its fingers, and all the blood on its body disappeared.

It now looked exactly like a normal maid.

The demon snapped its fingers again and instantly appeared in front of a large mansion.

While adjusting her dress, she walked toward the entrance and said,

"I wonder how long I'll have to keep acting like this… I should quickly find that boy and kill him. Once I do, I will become as powerful as the Demon King."

As the demon opened the door, a woman suddenly stood in front of her.

"Liliya! How many times have I told you not to leave without informing me? I am the head maid, and disappearing like this is extremely irresponsible!"

Liliya replied in a sweet voice,

"I'm very sorry. Something urgent came up, so I had to leave without informing you."

The head maid glared at her and said,

"Fine. This is your last warning. Don't let it happen again. Now hurry and serve food to the guests."

After saying that, the head maid walked inside.

Liliya followed her toward the dining table while thinking,

(Once I become a teacher at Levianth School, it will be easier for me to kill everyone here and leave.)

Liliya was smiling slightly.

The head maid noticed and said,

"Liliya! Stop smiling and come help everyone here!"

"Oh! I'm coming!"
