Chapter 21 - Brilliant but Quirkless: Part 8

Unfortunately, Izuku never got a chance to meet up with David or Melissa Shield. He never came across either of them at I-Expo, which honestly surprised him with how avid they had been about it before. He made several rounds with and without his mom, but he never came across them. Either he was unlucky, or they were somewhere else.

Initially after getting the invitation, his first idea was to attend off the pretense of showcasing his gauntlet to the ASDSC who were interested in it, and instead secretly sneak off to find them. It was an urgent feeling because they had a direct means of contacting All Might - one of his largest goals. He felt that if he could contact All Might in a way that wouldn't cause catastrophe to his mom, everything would change.

Reassessing that idea, Izuku came to realize that method was unlikely to turn out the way he wanted it to. All Might was possibly the hardest Hero to contact, and the information to get in touch with him changed regularly. Excluding the fact that it still wouldn't be easy for David or Melissa to get ahold of him, the fact they would ever give him All Might's contact info was unfeasible.

He was a kid who made it big with an invention. A person like that could easily become entitled and conceited enough to think they deserve to be in touch with the number one Hero. A young kid also couldn't be trusted to keep such guarded information to themselves.

A much greater opportunity with Star and Stripe had been presented, but he had let it go. There was no one to blame but himself. He just needed to move on from I-Island and count the successes he had.

The journey had been fruitful, even if he couldn't accomplish everything. Next time, he would hopefully be able to see them again.

See them, and stop David from doing anything stupid.

As the Midoriya family were on their flight back to Japan, a blonde girl with glasses was on her computer within her well-off home on the island. She was once again watching the videos from the creator that inspired her the most.

You Are Here.

They had very quickly become their favorite creator on the website after she watched their newest video about Quirkless people, and how even they held power. Just because they were Quirkless didn't mean they were powerless. It spoke to her greatly as someone who was Quirkless, and the way the video was made had her thinking the creator was Quirkless themselves.

She had proceeded to binge watch most of their content, much to her father David's chagrin. She had responsibilities and was supposed to be more involved in the I-Expo event, yet she couldn't put down her phone or get away from the computer screen!

She had attended and still helped her father out, but she had never sat in the background as much as she had at any other events prior. In retrospect, it was a little embarrassing to be stuck on the internet instead of where she belonged, but she just couldn't help it.

The videos were just so good, and here she was again watching the same video for the fifth time. Not that she counted...

"Melissa, you're not watching that video again, are you?" Her father peeked his head into her room.

She sputtered, scrambling forward to pause the video and scroll down so that he couldn't see. "D-dad, I told you to knock when you enter my room!"

"I knocked three times..." He replied solemnly, his eyes narrowed as he took a sideways glance at the computer screen from his perspective at the door. "You're not fooling me. You've done this all week."

Melissa blushed, adjusting her round glasses that had slipped from her swift movement. "...So?"

"So get in gear, lady. Those videos aren't going anywhere, so come help your pops out in the lab again."

"You don't need my help..." Melissa grumbled.

David chuckled. "You know, he may have missed I-Expo, but a special someone said he'll be coming to visit soon."

The young teen instantly jolted up. "Uncle Might?!"

"That's right. Now, are you gonna come be my assistant so you can show off your work and impress him?"

"C-coming!" Melissa shot up to her feet, gleefully following her father out of her room.
