We didn't have any time to waste. Rushing back thought the forest, the light of the day faded into darkness. With both myself and Chief Inti riding Uchel, it was slower than our race to the summit, but Cuau's beast form didn't lend very well to riding.
Still, Uchel was swift and we reached the edge of the forest when the moon was highest in the sky, Yawning, I went into the hideout where Gine was up with Kachel.
I could see the relief on his face. Kachel saw me and held his arms up so that I would come over and pick him him. Tired as I was, I lifted him up and cuddled with him.
"Chief Inti, welcome. I am glad you are safe." Gine told her. My mother in law smiled at her and looked around the little hideout.
"So this is where you always disappeared to." She said, sending a pointed glance over to Cuau. He shifted uncomfortably.
"It was… I…" Cuau stumbled over his words, trying to find out some excuse for this little hideout. Chief Inti just laughed and shook her head.
