Chapter 2 - wasting Money in Progress

David strolled onto the second floor, where clothes were sold. As he entered a store, a few sales assistants approached him, saying, "Welcome, sir. Please, this way." Following their lead, David glanced around, the cheapest items were a few thousand dollars, while the most expensive reached hundreds of thousands. He didn't have time to admire them. "Hey, over here," he called, gesturing to the sales assistants. In this store, the customer was king, their boss had instructed them to always smile and ensure customer satisfaction, whether they were buying or just browsing.

The sales assistants approached David, but before they could speak, he tossed a piece of clothing at them. They instinctively caught it, only to have another item thrown their way, they quickly caught that one too, watching as David continued to fling clothes their way. They kept catching.

After about five minutes, David stopped. He had finished selecting, and there was nothing left to toss since the remaining items were the cheaper ones. Turning around, he saw the sales assistants holding armfuls of clothes, looking at him in confusion. David said, "Ladies, I'll take everything you're holding, hurry up and bill it up." The sales assistants thought they had misheard, exchanging glances. One of them asked, "Are you serious, sir?" David replied, "No jokes here, I'm in a hurry." Realizing he was serious, they quickly went to bill the clothes, fearing he might change his mind. David waited and after about five minutes, one of the assistants returned, asking if he'd like to pay by card or cash.

"How much?" David asked. The assistant replied, "A total of $27,300."

"Here, charge thirty thousand. The extra three thousand is your tip," David said, handing over his card.

The assistant beamed, "Thank you, sir, thank you!" They were thrilled because with David's purchase, their commission was a third of the sale and with his tip, they had earned several months' worth of wages.

"By the way, where can I buy a watch to play around with?" David asked, the assistant, a bit flustered, thought to herself, just how much money does this guy have? She replied, "Sir, there's a jewelry store on the third floor that sells watches."

"Great, thanks. Leave the clothes here; I'll pick them up later," David said to the assistant. "Of course, sir," she replied.

The sales assistants watched David leave, they had seen wealthy customers before, but never anyone who spent money so freely and without hesitation.

David made his way to the jewelry store on the third floor. Approaching the counter, he didn't wait for the sales assistant to speak. "Show me a watch that's around five hundred thousand dollars," he said.

The sales assistant gave him a curious look before retrieving a watch from the display.

The salesperson introduced, "Sir, this is the latest model from the Vacheron Constantin Heritage series for men, priced at half a million. You can try it on now." David took the watch, examining the black and white strap and thought it looked pretty good.

"Alright, I'll take it. Swipe the card," he said, handing his card to the salesperson. The salesperson was stunned; she hadn't expected this customer to make such a quick decision, buying it in less than five minutes at the counter.

"Hey, hey, miss. Why are you standing there? Hurry up and swipe my card. I'm in a rush," David said.

"Sorry, sir, I'll do it right away," the salesperson replied hastily.

A few minutes later, the transaction was complete. David left the counter with his new watch, bought an iPhone and spent hundreds of thousands on jewelry for his mom and sister. He left the jewelry store with the enthusiastic farewell from the salesperson and the manager.

Then, he bought several boxes of premium Bi Luo Chun tea for his father, spending a few thousand. He checked the time and realized he only had half an hour left, but still had over ten thousand left to spend. He couldn't accept the penalty, no way. Thinking quickly, he decided to buy a bicycle.

David spent about ten minutes searching and finally found a bicycle shop, each passing minute made his heart race, fearing he'd run out of time. After a few more minutes, he finally found it.

Entering the shop, he saw no one around and called out loudly, "Anyone here? Hello?" After a few calls with no response, he walked to the counter and saw an older man sleeping and snoring. No wonder no one answered.

David banged on the counter, startling the man awake.
