Chapter 40 - Firehair

Sigurd looked toward Darkseid, but the response he got from the other end was an Omega Beam.

Sigurd looked at the Omega Beam and thought, "If my previous self were here, then it would be difficult, but now…"

Sigurd punched straight toward the Omega Beam, and at the same time, he moved closer toward Darkseid.

He did not dodge. The Omega Beam impacted his skin not with a cataclysmic explosion, but with a soundless pop, like a bubble bursting. The infinite destructive power was instantly absorbed, nullified, and recycled into nothingness. Before Darkseid could recalibrate his senses, Sigurd was upon him.

Darkseid, reacting with battle instincts, didn't hesitate. He channeled the entirety of his tyrannical might into a single, decisive blow—his massive, stone-like fist flying toward Sigurd's face. It was a world-breaker punch, a force meant to collapse stars.

But just as the fist was about to land, Sigurd caught it.

He caught the wrist casually, then he punched him. The impact was so great that Darkseid couldn't stand up.

Sigurd looked at him with a little disappointment.

"Your strength is very good, but it doesn't make me excited to fight with you anymore." Then he looked toward Lucifer. "What should we do with this one?"

Lucifer looked toward the other people who were outside the mirror dimension, so they didn't know what happened inside.

"Let him speak, then we will decide."

Darkseid looked at them with a little fear.

"I always thought you were powerful enough, but I didn't imagine you were powerful beyond my comprehension."

Sigurd looked toward Darkseid.

"You already know your situation, so what do you think our decision should be?"

Darkseid looked toward Lucifer and Sigurd.

"Don't you guys want to know why I gained power beyond what I should have?"

Sigurd didn't understand, so he turned toward Lucifer, but Lucifer's reaction was very serious.

He looked toward Darkseid intensely.

"You went outside the Source Wall."

Hearing the words, Darkseid looked toward Lucifer with surprise.

"You know about the world beyond those walls?"

Lucifer didn't bother to look at him. Just when Sigurd was about to speak, he felt everything around the universe freeze.

Lucifer turned toward a person who looked more like a human.

"Father."

Sigurd looked toward the old man, who resembled the businessmen he had seen on Lucifer's Earth.

Then he heard the words.

"Child, give me the Source Wall fragment."

Darkseid looked toward the person and knew this one might be beyond his power to imagine. He didn't even dare to negotiate. He took out the fragment, which automatically floated into the hand of the Supreme Being.

He turned toward Sigurd and Lucifer.

"You have done well enough." Then he waved his hand, and a ring appeared in front of Sigurd.

"You can use this to create a portal to travel."

Then he turned toward Lucifer.

"Samael, my child, you have done well enough."

Lucifer heard the words and was surprised that his father praised him.

"Yes, Father."

Although he wanted to say something satirical, he couldn't.

"You can enjoy your holiday on your Earth."

As he finished his words, the world started to function normally. At the same time, God and Darkseid vanished from the mirror dimension.

Lucifer didn't even understand what had happened.

"Did that old guy just take someone away?"

Sigurd didn't even know what to say.

"Let it be. I don't even want to know why they took him. These supreme beings of every universe are of the same mold—always acting mysterious."

Sigurd removed the mirror dimension.

Outside, everyone was waiting for the final result. Seeing Sigurd and Lucifer appear, they knew the crisis had been averted.

Sigurd nodded to the others, then looked toward Hippolyta. He and Lucifer disappeared from their position.

Athena looked toward Sigurd, then Hippolyta, and knew something might be between them. She realized she would have to change their way of dealing with the Amazons. After all, looking at the guy, he was definitely not one who cared about rules set by others.

Sigurd arrived at Themyscira island.

"Now let's test how to use this ring."

As he thought about traveling, a portal suddenly appeared in front of him.

Sigurd looked toward the interdimensional portal, then stepped into it.

At the same time, outside of Midgard, a portal appeared.

Sigurd came out of the portal. He looked at the surroundings and knew this was the same place from which the One Above All had taken him for his trial.

He contacted his brother and told him not to worry. He asked about other things but did not hear him mention having a baby.

"The first child of Odin might take a few thousand years to be born. It's time to travel to a different world. Although the Marvel world has many universes, the flow of time in all of them is the same. So why don't I travel during this period to learn more about the world?"

Sigurd then looked toward Midgard once more because he felt the presence of the Phoenix Force in a human. Then he remembered the Stone Age Avengers did have such a character, whom even his brother had pursued to marry.

He looked at her, then thought of how she had sacrificed herself with the Star Brand to protect and restore the universe.

Just when he was about to go back to Hippolyta's world, he sensed someone approaching him.

Sigurd looked at the figure. He knew she had felt his presence.

"Who are you?"

Lady Phoenix appeared in front of him.

Sigurd looked at Lady Phoenix. He could feel the power of the Phoenix inside her raging, and at the same time, the influence of the Dark Phoenix was also there.

"Hello, my name is Sigurd Borson."

Lady Phoenix looked at Sigurd with surprise, then thought of Odin, who had wanted to marry her. She had left Earth to stay away when he tried. Although she had once loved him, now time had passed, so she didn't care about old things.

"So you're the youngest brother of Odin. He told us about you. My name is Firehair."
