Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 : Turbulence

The night was peaceful, subtle sounds of waves crashing against the shore could be heard. The sky was clear, there were countless stars scattered all over it like an art of nature.

The moon shone in full radiance, dispelling the darkness of night. The timely splashes of sea water along with the moonlight made this place mystical.

Some time passed, and there appeared a tiny black sphere at the shore, staying a few feet above the ground.

The sphere didn't have a solid shape, as if created from dark mist, losing its form every now and then.

It started growing in size, until in became huge like the door of a castle. From within the pitch-black sphere, some traces of five colors—Red, Blue, Green, Yellow and Brown, could be noticed. These traces grew quickly, covering some area of the sphere.

From within this colorful area, a person walked out.

This person had a unique appearance. A man whose hair was bright white in color which reached down to his back. There weren't any clothes on his body except a long, black cloth that was tied around his waist by a rope, covering his legs.

He was around seven feet tall, and had a lean body. His eyebrows were thin and straight, eyes were of grey color, that looked lifeless and full of life at the same time. He had a tattoo across his forehead that seemed like a straight line but was bent downwards sharply in the center.

He was really handsome.

"So this is the mortal realm? " The mysterious man said in a plain tone.

He turned around, looking at the sphere. It was shrinking at a visible rate. In a few moments, the sphere shrank to dot size and disappeared entirely.

The man stood on his place, not moving an inch.

"It seems my method of travelling through worlds is a one-time type. It will collapse on itself after being used once. " He frowned slightly, trying to analyze the flaw in the gate.

"Not to mention going back, since the worlds aren't connected, I can't use my elemental power in this place. I'll have to look for a way around this. "

Just as he was planning his journey, he heard a loud sound.

Behind the shore was a forest, the loud sound earlier was coming somewhere from the forest. The man was alerted, he entered the forest and started moving towards the origin of the sound in a discreet manner. He was trying to observe his surroundings.

The forest was really dense. The place was dark with some pecks of moonlight peircing down through the trees.

The mysterious man was trying to get closer to the origin of the sound, when he heard some people talking:

"Where did he go?! " A young man that seemed to be leading the group questioned in an agitated way. He was muscular and had short hair.

"He is just a simple mortal, how did you lose him? "

"If you fail to kill that guy, you can forget about getting any payment! Search around the area, he must be nearby... "

"Yes." The group of men said in unison, a bitter expression could be seen on their faces.

It was these people who were creating the commotion.

The mysterious man was hearing their conversation. He started analysing the situation.

"They're looking for a guy, did he do something? No, they mentioned getting payment, they are hired by someone to kill that person. That muscular guy should be the client. "

The mysterious man was well aware of the affairs of the world, he immediately understood their motive.

"And judging by their words, that person is not an element bearer. They all have elemental power but still couldn't get the job done? Hmph, an incompetent group. " The man sneered in his head.

"Maybe I can use this situation for the advancement of my plan? "The mysterious man started moving in the forest, avoiding the group and searching for the mortal.

" If I get my hands on that mortal, I can search his memories and achieve a greater understanding of this world. "

Mortals were weakest among humans, with no elemental power to use, they struggle in life and always live under the fear of losing their lives.

If he got his hands on the mortal, he would have an easy time learning about this world rather than taking a fight with an element bearer and forcefully get the knowledge out.

"But finding that mortal is not easy. With this group restricting my movement.... "

"I need to divert them elsewhere."

The mysterious man made a plan, using this environment to distract the assasin group wouldn't be too difficult. He just had to make sure that he isn't caught in the process.

Although this group seemed incompetent, they were still element bearers. Trying to fight an element bearer with no element power of your own was courting death. Not to mention, this was an entire group of them.

"They'll probably take me as a target. Since I can't use my abilities, they might think of me as the mortal. Fighting this group will be disadvantageous for me, in both power and numbers. "

"As for how to distract them, hmm.... "The man was racking his brains.

How to distract this group within this forest? How to find the mortal without getting noticed? How to retrieve knowledge without any disturbance?

After some moments of thinking, the man stood up slowly. His eyes shining with a cold light:

" Let's do it this way then. "
