Deep within the mysterious jungle, a monster with a deer's head and a human body was roaming around.
Thanks to this being its home territory, the Wendigo, with its incredibly high speed and familiarity with the environment, could constantly launch attacks on its prey.
It usually toyed with humans who accidentally stumbled into its hunting ground this way, scaring them senseless before slowly savoring them.
But today's prey seemed a little off.
From the moment they stepped into its domain, the Wendigo sensed something unusual.
Three individuals, presumably human, one of whom was a subordinate possessing its own power but whose evolution had stalled.
Another was a strong human who posed an extreme threat to it? Or perhaps an advance scout from another monster lineage? Its power was so immense it could rival a troll of the same size!
And then there was the big-headed boy who looked like a human infant; the Wendigo had never seen such a peculiar life form.
It was as if he were the earthly infant of some deity, radiating an alluring glow from his entire body.
The Wendigo was certain that if it could just take a bite of the infant's flesh and blood, it would surely evolve to a more powerful level, perhaps even becoming a legendary deity.
However, all of this had one prerequisite: eliminating the fellow monster that stood in its way!
The Wendigo, its mind clouded by desire, poised itself and then charged towards Jiaozi.
The first time Chris attacked the opponent, it wasn't just him who realized his strength surpassed the Wendigo's.
The Wendigo, possessing some intelligence, also confirmed that its speed could crush Chris.
So, while it was tempted by the opportunity to become a god, it didn't plan on directly snatching the infant from Chris's hands.
Because that would just be seeking death, with no hope of success.
But by using its overwhelming speed, the Wendigo felt it wasn't without hope of biting off a piece of the holy infant's flesh.
Seizing the opportunity, the Wendigo instantly changed direction and lunged at Jiaozi.
The monster, over ten feet tall with a massive deer head, opened its blood-red mouth and bit down hard on Ruby's shoulder.
With a ripping sound, more than half of the Wendigo's head was severed by the battle-saber.
Then, a gust of wind blew past, causing Ruby, who was holding Jiaozi, to sway and almost be knocked over by the gale stirred up by the Wendigo.
"I've been watching you, you dog!"
Although Chris couldn't match the monster's speed, his powerful mental perception could detect minute changes within a few meters around him.
And this range was enough for Chris to react in time and prepare for the Wendigo.
Chris had even placed most of his focus on Ruby and Jiaozi, precisely because he feared this scoundrel might shamelessly attack them.
Looking at the Wendigo with half its head chopped off, Chris cursed with a laugh and then swung his saber downwards.
Since the monster was careless and wounded by him, Chris naturally couldn't give up such a good opportunity.
After splitting the monster in half, before it could regenerate its head, he instantly struck several more blows, directly dividing it into several pieces.
The moment Chris sheathed his saber, without waiting for his command, Ruby on the side immediately opened the flamethrower and pulled the trigger, aiming at the wriggling flesh on the ground that was trying to repair itself.
With a boom, scorching flames illuminated this part of the jungle, and several tons of flesh contracted in volume under the high-temperature blaze.
Chris, guarding against the possibility of the Wendigo playing dead, kicked the half deer head nearby into the flames, then spoke, "I didn't expect this guy to be so foolish, charging at us so blindly."
Because of the Wendigo's poor performance, Chris had thought this thing was a beast-type monster without intelligence and incapable of communication.
Of course, the Wendigo's deer head also greatly misled Chris.
However, Jiaozi, sitting on Ruby's shoulder and watching the Wendigo being roasted, glanced at Chris.
He had some guesses about the monster's frantic behavior, but it wouldn't be fun if he said it himself; that would be too boring.
So, he would wait for Chris to discover it himself, and then he could enjoy the other party's expression.
Jiaozi narrowed his eyes, thinking, but suddenly he realized something: Chris knew a lot about him, so did that include the fact that he created their universe?
Thinking of this, Jiaozi looked at the unresponsive Chris and secretly nodded, 'Good, it seems this guy either doesn't know, or he thinks it's too ridiculous to take to heart.'
With this thought, Jiaozi began to ponder how to subtly let Chris know that he was the one who created their universe.
Just as Jiaozi was contemplating how to make this revelation perfectly, Chris sensed something was wrong.
"This guy is a bit hard to kill!" Looking at the Wendigo, which had been burned down to a basketball-sized mass, Chris still hadn't detected any life essence entering his body, so he immediately stopped Ruby from wasting fuel.
"Hold on for a moment, Ruby. Let me see what kind of structure this guy really is; even over a thousand degrees of high temperature can't kill it."
As Ruby stopped firing, the basketball-sized charcoal instantly expanded, and the black-red flesh swelled to the size of a car tire in the blink of an eye.
Seeing this, Chris didn't hesitate, raising his saber and striking. Within a distance of less than half a meter, with Chris's supersonic hand speed, a metallic storm of slashes erupted in an instant.
The tire-sized chunk of flesh instantly turned into a bloody pulp. Ruby, seeing this, wanted to continue firing.
However, Chris directly stopped her, "No need, the flamethrower's temperature is too low; it can't kill this guy."
"I also have thermite grenades here, want to try them?"
Seeing Chris nod, Ruby took out a thermite grenade and handed it to Chris, then, holding Jiaozi, ran towards the distance.
Chris, while swinging his saber to prevent the Wendigo from repairing its body, pulled the pin from the grenade, then leaped backward, simultaneously throwing the grenade into the Wendigo's flesh.
Bang!
After an explosion, a dazzling white flame rose from the Wendigo's flesh, instantly incinerating the truck-tire-sized pile of pulp into charcoal.
A few seconds later, an orange life essence floated from the bright white flames into Chris's body.
Seeing the life essence enter his account, Chris turned and waved to Jiaozi, "Alright, the matter is settled!"
But before Chris could say anything more, he felt a strange sensation in the forest, and then saw another Wendigo crawl out from beneath the boulder he had cut in half.
"Damn, can this thing even reincarnate?"
Without time to ponder the situation, Chris drew his saber and charged at the newly appeared Wendigo.
However, although this monster had just revived, it wasn't in a dazed state. Relying on its speed, it lifted its leg, intending to create distance from Chris.
This method had worked before, but after Chris absorbed an orange essence, with the boost from this essence, Chris's speed was gradually catching up to the Wendigo's.
And after two or three seconds of Chris chasing the Wendigo, more essence had been digested by him, and his speed directly surpassed the Wendigo's.
So, after a series of repeated actions, the newly revived Wendigo once again transformed into an orange essence and merged into Chris's body.
Feeling the genuine power within him, Chris showed a chilling smile, then stared intently at the spot where the Wendigo had just revived.
"Come on, little darling!"
