Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Hatchling of the Sky — Baby Dvalin

Morning sunlight streamed through the crystal windows of the Valvas manor, painting the marble halls in a wash of gold. Roy stood in his room, staring at the Dvalin Egg resting on his desk — a magnificent orb of sapphire blue with faint cracks pulsing in rhythm with a soft glow.

The glow grew brighter. Then brighter still.Roy's eyes widened.

"Is it… hatching?"

Without a second thought, he scooped the egg into his arms and dashed toward the garden.

In the Valvas Garden

A serene scene greeted him — Bela White, Venelana Bael, Grayfia Lucifuge, Rem, Ram, Jessica Valvas, and Clara Valvas were gathered around a white marble table, the air filled with the gentle aroma of tea and laughter.

Venelana looked up first, elegant as ever.

"Oh my, Roy, what do you have there?"

Roy grinned. "You'll see in a second!"

The egg began to shake violently in his arms. Light burst through the cracks, scattering blue particles like falling stars.

Crack!Crack!Crack!

With a final flash, the shell shattered — and a tiny dragon emerged.

Its scales shimmered in shades of cobalt and gold, its wings translucent like spun glass. Two curious eyes blinked open, locking instantly onto Roy. The creature tilted its head, then let out a small, chirping roar.

"Kyu!"

Roy blinked. "...Wait. Are you calling me—?"

Before he could finish, the baby Dvalin flapped its wings clumsily and crawled up onto his chest, rubbing its head affectionately against him. A faint connection bloomed in Roy's mind — a pulse of trust, warmth, and instinct.

"Oh great," Roy muttered, smiling softly. "It thinks I'm its mother."

The women at the table stood up, their expressions melting at the sight.

Clara chuckled warmly. "Oh, look at that! Our Roy's got himself a little one now."

Jessica clasped her hands. "He's adorable! What's his name?"

Roy looked down at the dragon curled in his arms, purring softly.

"Dvalin," he said. "That's what the system called him. Guess it suits him."

Dvalin yawned, releasing a small puff of blue flame that fizzled harmlessly in the air. The entire group laughed — even Grayfia's usual calm demeanor softened into a small smile.

Bela White, however, seemed completely enchanted. She leaned closer, her eyes sparkling. "He's… beautiful."

Roy caught her expression and smirked.

"Oh? So the idiot can smile, huh?"

Her head snapped toward him immediately. "R-Roy Valvas!"

Roy took a step back, grinning wider. "You really do smile like a normal person, Bela."

Her face turned crimson as she stood up. "You—! Get back here this instant!"

"Catch me if you can!"

Roy bolted across the garden, laughing. Bela chased him, half furious, half flustered — while Dvalin perched on his shoulder, squealing happily as his "mother" ran for his life.

The rest of the garden burst into laughter.

Rem clapped her hands gently. "They look like siblings playing."Ram smirked. "No, more like mother and child. The 'child' being Roy."Venelana chuckled softly. "House Valvas truly never has a dull moment."

As Roy ran past the flowerbeds, Bela's voice rang out once more:

"Get back here, you little brat!"

"Make me!" Roy shouted, laughing.

And from her seat, Jessica Valvas smiled as she watched them. "He's growing up surrounded by love," she whispered.

Clara nodded beside her. "And that, my dear, is the greatest magic of all."
