CHAPTER 24 — Blitz of Blood and Stone
In a split second—
Every single mole leapt at once.
Their bodies launched into the air, spinning violently, claws tucked in as they transformed into living circular saws. The sound alone was terrifying—whirring, screeching, tearing through the air as they closed in from all directions.
"Hectogon!"
Green hexagonal shields slammed into existence just in time.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
One after another, the moles crashed into the barriers and were flung backward, skidding across the cavern floor before spinning again and launching anew.
But Zodac could see it.
Wide cracks spider-webbed across the shields.
They were breaking.
"What do I do…?"
His breath shook as panic gnawed at his chest.
They won't stop. Sooner or later…
The thought barely finished when—
CRACK—!!
The Hectogon barrier shattered completely, dissolving into green fragments that faded into nothing.
"No—!"
Zodac jumped backward—
—and his heel slipped.
The cliff.
A sheer drop yawned behind him, swallowing light and sound.
One more step and I'm dead.
Before he could recover, the moles attacked again.
The first slammed toward him—
Zodac raised RAYGUST, blocking just in time.
CLANG!
The impact numbed his arms, sending shockwaves through his bones as the creature bounced off and hit the ground.
Another launched immediately.
Too fast.
Too close.
"Aahh—!!"
Pain exploded in his thigh as claws ripped into flesh. Blood spilled freely as he staggered.
Another came for his arm.
Another for his back.
Another straight for his face.
Zodac forced himself to move—blocking, deflecting, twisting his body just enough to avoid fatal blows. Every motion burned. Every breath tasted of iron.
Even so, they never stopped coming.
Driven back—
Step by step—
Until his spine hit cold stone.
No room left.
The moles spread out, their movements synchronizing unnaturally. Then—
They all jumped at once.
Nineteen spinning bodies tore toward him in a perfectly timed execution.
Zodac panted heavily, blood streaking down his face.
"This is bad…"
His voice cracked.
"There has to be something… anything…"
Then—
The panel flashed.
An unstable form of mana.
"…Let's see what you do."
He didn't hesitate.
He poured everything into it.
Every drop.
The Blitz tank emptied instantly.
"—!!"
His breath caught.
His pupils dilated violently as power flooded his body—raw, uncontrollable, electric.
It felt like the world snapped into focus.
Sound distorted.
Movement slowed.
The moles seemed frozen midair.
"Hectogon."
A single hexagonal platform formed beneath his foot.
He stepped on it—
—and launched.
Zodac shot upward, narrowly slipping past the spinning monsters as they tore through the space where he'd stood a heartbeat earlier.
Before gravity could claim him—
He stabbed downward.
SPLASH!
RAYGUST pierced straight through one mole and Zodac swung its corpse into another, smashing them together in a grotesque explosion of blood.
The rest collided into the cavern wall, bodies cracking against stone.
Zodac twisted midair, flipping cleanly—
—and landed lightly.
His body trembled, energy roaring inside him.
"Incredible…"
His voice shook with disbelief.
His gaze fixed on the mole,
"This moles have 2 forms of attack, first is the drill type which the first one used against and the other is the circular type like a saw, all I have to do is hit them before they have to chance to unleash either"
Before the moles could recover, he hurled RAYGUST.
The weapon spun like a disk of death—
THUD!
One mole was nailed straight into the wall, impaled and twitching.
Zodac sprinted.
RAYGUST re-materialized in his hand as he burst forward at terrifying speed.
One mole leapt back to evade—
Too slow.
A single slash in midair.
Blood sprayed like rain.
Another emerged from the ground—
Zodac drew Kogetsu in the same motion and severed its neck cleanly.
The body collapsed in a heap.
From the corner of his eye—
A spinning mole screamed toward him.
Without thinking—
Zodac twisted, RAYGUST flashing—
SHNK!
The creature split apart midair, corpse slamming lifelessly to the ground.
"This… this is insane…!"
Then—
The strength vanished.
His legs buckled.
Zodac crashed to his knees, vision spinning, lungs burning as if they'd collapsed.
"What—what's happening…?"
The panel flickered weakly.
Unstable Mana
(Empty)
"…No…"
The remaining moles watched him and began to move cautiously now.
Their eyes were no longer red with hate as the hate reaction skill has worn off.
They were hesitant to attack.
Zodac's breath came ragged as an idea sparked through the haze.
He grabbed pieces of fallen moles—meat, bone, sinew—and jammed them into the orb.
Green light flared.
The Blitz bar refilled.
Power surged again.
Zodac rose slowly—Kogetsu forming in his grip.
A crooked, dangerous smile spread across his bloodstained face.
"…Come on."
His voice echoed through the cavern.
"Let's dance."
