Malvin read the question, "Yes, I'll be going to the war too, if... No special circumstances occur."
...
Night crept in. At first, I waited for Shahr in my room, then I found myself getting bored. So I headed for the kitchen. As I stood at the kitchen's doorstep, the maids working in the kitchen weren't as shocked as they used to be. Maybe they had gotten used to me visiting the kitchen.
A maid came to me and asked, "Duchess, we will send your dinner to your room."
I raised a hand and refused her. Pointing at the kitchen utensils, I tried to signal her that I had come to the kitchen to cook for Shahr.
It took her a few seconds to understand what I was trying to convey, "Oh, you want to cook for the Duke?" Her face lit up with joy.
I nodded. She quickly cleared space for me and arranged all the things I might need while cooking, such as utensils, vegetables, spices, and water. I did go to the kitchen, but I hadn't decided on what to cook. I got lost in my thoughts.
