Chapter 16 - Breakfast

The next day I woke up in the morning a little early, like I always did in my previous life; it wasn't anything new to me. The only thing that was new was that now I'm stuck in someone else's body living someone else's life, but it's not as bad as I thought it would be. You see, this family and its members are so kind and generous to me. No matter how much I got in trouble, they'd always be lenient towards me. Sure, maybe I'd get punished, but not in a brutal way or with a sadistic tone. Now I feel like I'm not having regrets about getting everyone exploded on that train because, if it wasn't for that, then I'd still be living my life working as a slave twenty-four hours a day for my family.

I'm actually feeling a little grateful now. I got someone else's life that I might have stolen, but hey, look on the bright side of things: they were going to die anyways, so I'm sure they wouldn't mind. After all, it clearly wasn't my fault those bombers chose that specific train I was in. And now that my soul is currently in their body, I will make good use of things while intruding in the place. Aside from that, I do feel like every bone in my body has been broken. I have been running a lot since I came here, running from monsters I didn't even know existed, but at least I'm still in one piece.

Mnnn What is that sweet aroma? It's really tickling my tongue and making me feel really hungry, though I have never been a picky eater, and I've never been this starved before; I was always fed. But God, please!!! Help me right now because I could eat an entire cow or a whole building right this minute....

It seems despite this family's poor condition, they can make really good food, or maybe it's because this world's food is a little bit more different than the food in my world. I can't wait to taste the food here, absolutely. It's one thing this family never does: relies on each other or one sole person to provide everything for the family Everybody Breaks hard and chips in just to make ends meet while also ensuring that everybody has food, clothing, and proper shelter—this family is like a jackpot. I don't care that they're poor. I don't care that they're present or ordinary people. What really matters is the bond they share with each other as a family, and that's all that matters to me.

As I go downstairs, I can't help but still have the warm feeling in my heart. I know that this is my home and where I belong. I hope that nothing changes and I continue to live a peaceful life with no more drama, no more fighting, no more killing, and no more deaths.

"Ah, Maya, You're finally here Mom is the one who's cooking today, and she made some lovely pancakes, and they're just the way you like them. Even though all you've been doing is this—getting this family into nothing but trouble—however, you still brought home some wonderful stuff that those rich junkies often throw away. Good grief, those fools! They don't even know that something so simple can always be remolded and used again."

"Yes, it might be broken, but once you put things back together, even broken things can be useful. Fortunately, this world is full of magic, and we know how to use ours because we practiced as a team. We can only rely on one another for support and the information from the city library, which has been free for more than a year, because we are unable to pay for proper schooling.

We tried borrowing books from the library, which lets us enter without paying a fee, so we can practice and learn magic on our own and teach each other. It's good to know that those royal jerks never attended school like everyone else because you don't really have the money. You can watch me transform these old, used pots into something much greater for the time being, but we will definitely teach you when you grow older and discover your magic ability."

At first I thought she was really joking, taking some old used garbage from rich people and then turning it into something new.

At first I was very skeptical, but then she proved me wrong. as she held her hands over the pot, casting a spell that instantly lit the pot in flames, transforming the pot from an old, used, shriveled-up pan to a big pot that you can use to boil a big feast of soup.

I was so taken aback that my eyes gleamed. Magic here really is something else; it can make the seemingly impossible task turn into something possible.

I had a gaping expression and wide eyes as I gazed at my now older sister. I could tell as soon as I looked at her that I was giving her a "Did that just really happen just now?" look, and she quickly laughed, seemingly accustomed to my stares after putting on such a spectacular show. I mean, can you blame me for looking at her like that? Back in my world, you'd be the laughingstock of the crowd just for saying such things like "magic" and "take the old trash and turn it into something new." Heck, you'd probably get thrown into a mental asylum.

"Maria Alissa Ironheart, stop distracting your sister and let her have breakfast before it gets cold right this instant. Honestly, do you have to do this every morning? And it's cute and all now, but just wait until after breakfast next time before you entertain your sister."

"Oh, you hear that, sissy? And it's coming from Mom and not me this time. I told you not to do magic until after breakfast; you know the family rules, don't you?"

"Oh, shut up, Kariyuku. What do you know about anything? At least I'm not a stuck-up prude who doesn't add any value and knowledge to our baby sis. All you do is take her to places no girl her age should be. Are you even a man of this house? It's your bad influence why Maya gets into trouble so often."

"Guys, um... please, we can talk this through. Don't, um, fight, please."

I held my hands up in a surrender-like position. I felt so small in my seat as my older brother got out of his relaxed feet-crossed-on-the-table position and sprang up to argue back with my big sister, but he settled back down and held his head down once Mom glared at him... he instantly backed off and kept quiet.

But after their outburst and a little bit of quiet scolding, I expected everybody to just keep to themselves and the atmosphere to be quiet... something like that, but instead___ it was the opposite. Everybody laughed, talked, and made smart remarks against each other while pointing passive-aggressive comments at each other. It was fun; the mood became light again. They didn't hold a grudge against each other.... This was truly a family where I could live in peace and where I belonged. I continued eating my breakfast, enjoying the chaotic atmosphere. The pancakes were delicious. They had a light dessert that I had never heard of before, and even though the eggs might have had a different flavor and appearance, they were still really delicious. Dessert wasn't typically served after breakfast, was it? But I suupose it was more of a formality in my world, or on this occasion, I'll just enjoy the moment while I'm here
