Chapter 5 - The Memories between us, Regretful Memories, Doubtful Memories.

"I don't know who said this or what they were going through when they said you can't fix a problem with a problem, but what I know is that they were going through something bad. With that, they were right. As, in my view, it's so true. What I believe in is that when you are in a relationship, you and your significant other must talk, learn, and understand each other in the time you are together, because that can eliminate some issues of communication, trust, and understanding in your relationship. But in the end, we are human — we are all chasing perfection, as we are not without flaws."

After the events of yesterday, Zoey was regretful for what she did to Maya. She had never gotten into her before, no matter how angry she was at that time, but she didn't know how to apologize for what happened. Maya wasn't talking — after it happened, she didn't feel like talking or anything. She just left, leaving Zoey sitting alone on the bed. Zoey kept thinking about what she did to Maya. She couldn't stop. She got up and went to the bathroom, trying not to think about what she did, but the moment she looked at her hand while taking a pill, the thoughts just came back to haunt her. The doorbell rang. She guessed it was Maya, because she was the person she wanted to see and apologize to. With that, she rushed to the door, full of excitement, and said after opening it, "Phi, I am sor—"

Maya's sister, Charlotte, was the one there, not Maya. Zoey said, confused, looking at her, "huh, what… so, she is not here?" Disappointed, she slowly moved away from the door and went to sit down on the couch. She asked, "Why is she here?" Charlotte got in and closed the door behind her, replying, "Well, I came to see you. I mean, I really miss my sister. I mean, if my older sister was here, it would have been a bonus, but it's okay, I guess." Zoey said to Charlotte, "Well, okay, I am already here. I mean, I didn't go away. Besides, you know you can still visit me. I will always have time for you, remember." She smiled at her.

Charlotte looked at her and noticed Zoey's left arm was wearing a bandage. When she came close and sat down, being curious, she asked, "Uhm, Phi, what happened to your hand? I mean, are you okay?" Zoey looked at the hand, hid it, and said, nervous, "Nah, it's not a big deal. I just happened to hit a mosquito. It was annoying, and I saw after that I hurt myself in the process, you." Charlotte wasn't believing what she was told. She just acted along, giggling, and then said to her, "Wow, really. I am sure it was a cheating mosquito, and I am sure you slapped it out of existence." Zoey looked at her, changing the topic, "Well, are you here to ask something, or what? I mean, you always like asking me and Phi May things. What is it this time?"

Charlotte looked at Zoey, smiled, quickly changed her expression, and was about to ask something very serious, but she didn't know how to say it yet. This was her first time in this situation, and she didn't think it could be solved the way it is. Zoey looked at her, got up, and walked to the kitchen while paying attention to what Charlotte was about to say. She grabbed juice and some snacks, knowing this will be a long conversation. Moments after, she came back and sat down. Charlotte looked at her with concern and said, "Phi, you shouldn't have done that. I mean, I could've done it for you. You don't have to push yourself in the state you are in. I am really worried about you." Zoey sighed, looked at her, and said, "You don't have to worry. I am fine, anyway. What were you going to ask me?"

Charlotte looked at her, herself confused where to start, as she hadn't told anyone this. But at one point, she had to talk. She then said to Zoey, "Well, phi, I am kind of in a situation here. Uhm, it's really difficult to explain, and I don't know if I am wrong because I expected more, or I just messed it up myself." Zoey smiled, giggled, and said, taking a bag of snacks, "Wow, our little one has come so far. If it's what I am thinking… I mean, you're hiding a relationship with — Kimberly, right? Wow, I didn't know you were into older ones. And isn't she way too serious, like a workaholic like Phi May?

Charlotte was shocked and confused. She didn't expect that Zoey knew about her and Kim. She was speechless, looking at Zoey, and asked, "Wait… wait, how did you know that? I mean, we were so careful, and we made sure no one saw us or could find out." Zoey looked at her, eating the snacks, and laughed as she saw Charlotte's reaction — it was so priceless — as she just found it endearing. She said, "Aww, so cute. I really like seeing your reaction. Well, no, you didn't make everything difficult for me. I mean, I saw you cuddling and kissing in your house. Remember that time I was undergoing treatment and had to stay near the hospital if anything went wrong?"

Charlotte, still shocked, said, "What? I mean, that was a long time ago. I mean, why didn't you talk to me about it, or something?" Zoey looked at her and said, "Well, at the time, I was not in a position, and I thought about talking to you about it, but… I just… I mean, it might feel like an interrogation. But what I can tell you is that the truth is uncomfortable. But if you are not willing to be uncomfortable, then you will continue being comfortable with not saying the truth. I mean, it's easy to lie and hide things. Trust me, I know. But in the end, that's just a double-edged sword, because guilt kills you slowly, and people will still find out, and it will hurt them more. But I am not saying that if you went and were truthful, it will never hurt — it will still hurt, but at least you were truthful, honest to them and yourself too. I mean, it's really bad to be in a secret relationship. You know… she didn't sign up for this."

Charlotte looked at her, sighed, and replied, 'Well, Phi, I am not sure what to do. I mean, you are right — I didn't think things through, and she's probably not happy about being hidden away. But I also told her why. I mean, my reason is valid, too. Lady Grandmother will not allow me to be in a relationship with someone not in my rank and nobility, so I got concerned and just… made our relationship a secret.'

Zoey sighed, thinking. She murmured, more to herself, 'I mean, secrets have a cost, you know.' But she looked at Charlotte and continued, 'But I do believe your relationship is still salvageable. And you know I'm not of Royal blood, too — I'm just a daughter of a house maid who married into the family, remember? And now I'm just married to your high and mighty sister.'

Charlotte couldn't stop her tears coming out as she listened to Zoey. She hadn't accounted for Kim's feelings. Zoey pulled her closer, hugged her, and wiped her tears. Looking at her, she said softly, 'Well, uhm, it's going to be okay. You just need to be truthful and listen to her. And you must listen to each other more.'

Charlotte looked at her, stopped crying after a while, and said, 'But Phi, you're a crowned Princess. I mean, that's different, you know.' Zoey looked at her and said, 'Well, I know. But it was a wish that needed to be granted, and I do not regret it. I would do it again.'

Charlotte pulled back a little, a mix of surprise and something expected in her eyes. She knew the realest love she ever saw was between her sister and Zoey. She said, 'Hmm… but didn't you say you're giving up on it all? I mean, even if that's not the case, I saw everything you two went through. Your marriage is filled with lies, drama, and chaos. Even people not involved are affected. How can you solve what's happening?'

Zoey looked at her, blushing, and said, 'Well, it's love, you know. I mean, I can't — when it's bad or more chaotic — just walk away. I mean, she is my mess, and that's why I married her. And I really love her a lot. I mean, I told myself I would just leave her and just ignore her, continue with my life… but the moment I saw her, everything just disappeared, and I realized that true love does exist. So, I just, then and there, forgave her.'

Charlotte looked at her, smiling, and said, 'You know, I might feel like the night for you two, but what I know is that the moon is always there, shining. I am sure you never had this before from me, but I am glad that you are in love with my older sister. One day I thought to myself, who could be able to stand when she is like this… and you are the only one who can pull that off. I am really happy you are that person.'

Zoey blushed more, smiled, and switched to a serious look as she thought about Karen. She said, 'Well, it can't be peaceful because of your ex causing trouble, and I don't know what she wants.'

Charlotte looked at Zoey, a little confused, thinking of Karen, and said, 'What… you mean Karen? What did she do this time? Argh, I don't know what is her problem. I thought she went and told you about the truth of what happened — or what she did.'

Zoey looked at her, sighed, annoyed and angry, and said, 'I mean, after I announced my final tour and ended my singing career to the fans last night, she just called to ask if I would still be doing the modelling gigs and my influencer gigs. I said no, and I didn't want to talk with her. I just got annoyed and blocked her.'

Charlotte shook her head and then said to Zoey, 'Well, I have news. If she didn't tell you… I don't know what she was hoping for. I mean, honestly, the thing is that I found out she was the one who sent the divorce papers. She made Older Sister believe that you didn't want to talk with her by deleting the messages you sent to her — about the treatment. And like the biggest one is that she framed Older Sister as the reason we broke up. I mean, the reason we broke up is because she is too fake, and she is too obsessed with being part of the royal family. If she thought it was going to happen, well then, she should keep dreaming.'

Zoey sighed as she said to her, 'Well, she is a really annoying person. I mean, at this point, I should just fire her. I mean, she keeps causing problems for us. I mean, honestly, I thought she would change, but nope — I just betted on the wrong horse.'

Charlotte looked at her, got her phone out, wanting to show Zoey something, and said, 'I think there's no need for that. I think your sweetie did it for you — and it really wasn't that hard to get Karen off her high horses. I mean, she wanted to ruin my relationship too. I mean, I wouldn't let her do that. I'd slap her back to reality. She shouldn't have come with the nonsense or stunts.' After saying that, she shows her a message from Karen of her quitting and apologizing about what she did.

Zoey looked at the message, smiled. But she couldn't help but wonder how Phi May is doing, as she didn't know how to talk to her after she slapped her. And now, she didn't do this for her. As she didn't know how to feel about everything, she asked, worried, 'Uhm, how is Phi May doing? I mean, is she okay?'

Charlotte looked at her, thinking something based on Maya's face, and laughed a little as she said, 'Wow, you two are down bad. I mean, you are such a love-struck little kitten. Aww, you are so cute. I really love seeing this side of you.'

'Older sister is okay, just that she's kind of scared of facing you because she said that if she showed up here, you'd sleep on the couch or floor — and I quote — "she really has changed for the worst." Did she slap you that hard?' I asked, but when I saw your hand with the bandage, I understood.

Zoey looked at her, avoiding all that, and said, 'Nah, I mean, it was just a pat on the cheek. Nothing serious. I mean, if she does cheat for real, she'll see that I have changed. But she should've come by. I don't mind. I really needed to talk with her…' said the person who's hiding her serious girlfriend. 'I mean, why? And you should fix things — or do you want aid from me?'

Charlotte was shocked, nodding as she looked at Zoey, and said, 'What, just a pat on the cheek, huh? Well, since you brought her up, I need to go now and deal with her. I mean, she is not going to be serious forever. No thanks, I don't need your help, Phi — you still have your own issues, remember.'

Zoey looked at her, worried, as she slowly looked down. She didn't know how to deal with this, as she had to start on a clean end and tell Phi May what she had, and get over it, because she didn't want to start things up with hidden things.

Charlotte looked at Zoey, hugged her goodbye as she got ready to leave, took off, and left Zoey's house, closing the door after she got out.

Zoey was left there with her thoughts as Charlotte saw that, and just let her be, as she went out to fix her own issues too. Zoey got her phone out — her lock screen still had the picture of both her and Phi May's hands, showing their wedding rings — as she thought to herself, she should just call her and talk this out. There was a lot to talk about.

Some time passed as she stared at Phi May's contact info, wanting to call her. She sat there, looking at it, unsure if this was a good move or not. But unexpectedly, Phi May called her. Zoey was shocked and surprised that she was calling.

Zoey didn't waste time and answered the call, saying, 'Uhm, Phi May… I am sorry for what… I didn't… Can we meet and talk? I really want to talk with you.'

Maya said in the call, 'Well, yeah, we can meet. I mean, that's why I called you. I really want to talk too. And I'm almost there, at your place.'

Zoey looked at the door as she said to her in the call, 'Well, you do know the passkey. If you don't have the key card, right?' 'I'll be hanging up, okay.'

Maya said to Zoey in the call while she approached the door, 'Yeah.' As she opened the door, looking at Zoey who was sitting on the couch, she hung up the call. She slowly got in, closed the door behind her, rushed to Zoey, and hugged her.

Zoey was shocked. She didn't mind this — she just responded by hugging her too. As she looked at her, she said to her, 'Aww, Phi May… I really am sorry. I didn't know how to act when I saw that. My heart just dropped and my mind went blank. I mean, can you forgive me? In fact, I want us to start anew. Can we?'

Maya hugged her more tightly as she noticed that Zoey's body was so light and her heart was a little weak. As she didn't want to ask but she had to, she then said to Zoey, 'Are you feeling, okay? I mean, I still don't know what your sickness is, but it looks bad. I mean, can you tell me — at least I know what I can do.'

Zoey looked at her, sighed, as she teared up, then said, 'Well… I have cancer. I just had treatment, but I don't know what's going on with my body because I kind of feel weaker every day. So, I decided to stop my singing part of my career because of that. I am very sorry for telling you late, and I didn't want this to be the reason you stay.'

Maya, after hearing that, felt a ringing in her ear. She didn't know how to respond to that. As she just hugged her, but not too much, as she was careful, she said in a shaking voice, 'But… we still have time, right? I mean, I don't need a reason to be with you. I mean, you are still young… how did that happen?'

Zoey looked at her, not saying much. She didn't want to tell Phi May this — she had an experience of her being unable to deal with things like this — and just stayed quiet.

Maya, still hugging her, said, 'I mean, if you didn't want to tell me this because of our mothers' deaths, it's okay. I understand that. But you still needed to tell me, you know. I am always here for you. So how about we try together and face it. I mean, it's not too late.'

Zoey looked at her and said, 'Well, you don't have to do that, you know. I mean, you being here is enough. You don't have to waste money — if that's what you mean.'

Maya looked into her eyes, charmed once again by Zoey's bright, sparkling blue eyes, and said, 'Aww, really, your eyes are so pretty and don't change. I love them a lot. And don't worry — if I have to, I can pay with flesh and blood for the time I wasn't here. How is that?'

Zoey laughed as she looked at her, and said, 'Aww, Phi May, that's so intense, huh. Well, I didn't expect that. You know… but I think I have to make you pay my way for being a bad kitty.'

Maya got down a little, laid on Zoey's chest, facing her, and meowed at her. Zoey looked at her, giggling, and said, 'Aww, you sure are cute. But I didn't think you'd do that. I mean, it really felt risky and kind of hot… but we are not there. This kitty needs to do a lot before getting a treat, okay? Remember, I am sick.'

Maya looked at her, sulked, buried her face on Zoey's chest, and said 'Yeah, I know… but I can't get a little kiss?'

Zoey looked at her, smiled, hugged her, and gently patted her hair. Then she said, 'Hmm, well, you are such an opportunist, Phi May. Well, if you were serious about making it up to me, you wouldn't be laying on my chest.'

Maya, after hearing that, backed away, looked at her, and said, 'Well, I am sorry, okay. I didn't mean that.'

Zoey giggled, pulled her back, and said, 'Aww, wow, you are still easy to tease. You know, it will be fun for me — yay. Anyway, I didn't mean you shouldn't do anything. I mean, I would be cruel if I said you couldn't get anything.'

Maya looked at her, surprised when Zoey pulled her back, and said, 'But you, I shouldn't do it. I mean, you are not cruel. I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if I sleep on the couch today — we don't know how Nong oey has changed, so I had to be cautious about being here, you know.'

Zoey looked at her, poked at her cheek, and said, 'Aww, wow, you are so cute. But you could sleep here, you know. I mean, since you are so naughty.'

Maya looked at her, shocked, and stayed still for some time. She moved, then said, 'Wait… wait, no. But it's not comfortable here. I mean, how can I sleep here…. Ok, ok, fine. I will behave myself, please.'

Zoey looked at the windows, saw it was night, yawned, got up slowly, moved Maya to the couch, and said as she walked to her bedroom, 'Hmm, well, I am going to sleep now. I am sort of tired. And don't come to the bed, okay. You can do anything you want, okay. Bye.' She blew her a kiss and shut the door.

Maya was left there, didn't even get time to say anything. She murmured, 'Hmm, why did she blow a kiss if she'd just leave me here? I mean, it's kind of high here, and I kind of don't like heights. No… no, I can't do this. Uhm, Nong oey, help. I can't sleep here.'

Zoey, about to get into bed, heard Phi May calling. She got a little annoyed, went to the door, opened it, and said, 'What… I am trying to sleep. I mean, are you going to stand there? Just come in, my god.'

Maya rushed in, looked at Zoey, a little confused, remembering Zoey said she didn't want her here. She was so lost, and said, 'Huh, wait — didn't you say you don't want me to sleep with you and stuff? I mean, what is happening?'

Zoey sighed, avoided her gaze, got inside the blankets, and said, 'My god, why would I say that? I kind of wanted to cuddle, and it's cold. I mean, I know you don't like sleeping on top floors in hotels or houses unless I am with you. But if I am not, you instead listen to music.'

Maya looked at her, moved in close, got inside the blanket, looked at her, then laid down, and said, 'Well, it's great you remember that. I am glad you know… but next time, can you not joke about this.'

Zoey looked at her, as she slowly got closer, hugged her close, and said, before slowly fading to sleep, 'Well, it's whatever. And I am glad you are here with me.' She smiled in her sleep.

Maya looked at her, felt her hugging her, gently hugged her back, and added a gentle kiss on the forehead. She herself fell asleep too. As both Phi May and Nong oey fell asleep…

Meanwhile, Charlotte was looking for Kim that night. She spent the whole time looking for her around the places she used to frequent, and was left with just one place: the nightclub called ACE. She had no choice but to go — she knew without a doubt that she was there. It was a lesbian club, and she knew she'd find her.

Charlotte was beyond annoyed and upset, walking in. The guards just let her in, knowing what she was, and were surprised she was here again. She said to the guards, 'Where can I find her. I know she is here.'

One of the guards pointed her to where she was. She looked at the guard and said, 'No, just come and show me, okay.' The guard felt a little pressured, not wanting to leave their post. Charlotte said, handing them a business card, 'If something happens, I'll take responsibility. Come on.' The guard took the card and led the way to where Kim was.

Charlotte saw Kimberly kissing a girl, as the girl was kind of forcing it. The girl reached out, grabbed the other girl on top of Kimberly, pulled her back, slapped her, and said, "That's mine. Who are you to do that?" As the drama unfolded, people looked on, saying, "Wow, she is here again. Yes, she is. I mean, why is a princess like her chasing a girl like this?" Charlotte didn't care what they said. She got Kimberly up—there was a coat handy—as she made her wear it because her dress was too short and very revealing.

As she looked at the guard and murmured a thank you to them—it was too loud—she just passed by the girl who was with Kim as if she didn't see her. She then walked out of the club. As she looked at Kim, she shook her head; she didn't believe that she'd done this again.

As she carried Kim to her car, she unlocked it, opened the door first, and made her sit in the passenger seat. She shut the door, got to the driver's side, opened the door, got inside, shut the door, and sighed before starting the car. As she drove to their house, she was crying the whole way. She looked at Kimberly, who was sleeping, as that image of her kissing another girl didn't disappear from her mind, and she thought about it more and more.

After some time, she got to their house. She pressed the gate remote so it could open for her car. As she got in the yard, it closed automatically—no remote needed; it had a sensor, though it looked damaged. But that wasn't in Charlotte's mind right now. She parked, sighed out of annoyance, got off, and got Kimberly out. She carried her, got inside the house, went straight to their room, and laid her down on the bed. She looked at her, kept wiping away her tears, went to the kitchen to take a bowl, filled it with water, returned with the bowl, and took the cloth in the bathroom.

Charlotte sat on the bed, looking at Kimberly, who was still passed out. She soaked the cloth so she could wipe Kim up, to lessen the hangover and the effects of her drinking. She took off her coat, and Charlotte stripped her naked, wiping her whole body. Then she got some fresh clothes and helped her wear them—she didn't want her to wake, so she had to be careful and gentle. As she finished up, she tucked her inside the blanket. Charlotte didn't join the bed; she just took a chair, pulled it beside the bed, and looked at Kimberly sleeping.

The morning came sooner than expected. The light crept through the curtains, painting soft shadows across the room, and with it came a heaviness Charlotte hadn't prepared for. Kimberly made it historically hard for her—at a rate she didn't believe could have happened so quickly. Every moment replayed in her mind, each word and touch lingering longer than she wanted to admit.

She thought it was a very bad dream, something unreal, a fleeting fantasy she could wake up from. Yet the ache in her chest and the warmth of the memories told her otherwise. It felt surreal, almost too intense to belong to reality. But Kimberly's voice, steady and unmistakable, made it clear she was not dreaming. The sound carried through the quiet morning, grounding her in the truth she couldn't escape.

Kimberly woke up, saw Charlotte lying beside her, and wondered what was happening. She looked at herself, saw that her clothes were changed, and said, "What the hell? How did I get here?" That woke Charlotte up. Looking around, she saw Kimberly there with a stoic face, and said, "I'm the one who changed your skimpy outfit."

Kimberly looked at her, tilted her head, and said, "Who told you to do that? I didn't ask for that. In fact, I don't want anything from you." She got out of the blanket, got up out of the bed, and stood looking at Charlotte.

Charlotte stood up, faced her, and said, "Wow, really. After all this time, you think you can survive without me, huh? Can you tell me you don't really want anything from me? But here's an example: who do you think got you the job you have now?

Kimberly just looked at her, went past her, didn't answer. Instead, she said, "I am leaving. I don't need this. You always act above everyone, and you always talk about Phi May and Zodiac's relationship being a mess, while your own is worse. To top it all off, you don't even have time for me. When I suggested us doing something, you're busy with your duties."

Charlotte looked at her with a straight face, folded her arms, and said, "Oh, so you're saying it's my fault that you aren't mature and cheat. I mean, if that's what you're talking about, then okay.

Kimberly just looked at her, got speechless, and faced the other way, getting ready to leave without saying anything. Charlotte regretted that she said that. She chased after her, held her hand, and said, "Wait, please. Can we talk? Please, I am sorry."

Kimberly was angry. She didn't take it. She felt Charlotte was holding her hand rough, and said, "Let me go. You are hurting me." As she saw that Charlotte didn't want to let go of her, she pushed her with force. Charlotte landed on her back against the door frame and cried out.

Kimberly looked at her and instantly regretted doing that. She rushed to Charlotte, held her close, tears dripping down her face as she started crying. She hadn't meant that to happen. She then said to her, "I am very sorry. I didn't mean that, okay… are you hurt?"

Charlotte looked at her, in pain, and said, "No, don't cry. I am fine, okay." As she wiped her tears, Kimberly was in blame. She tried to help her up to bed. She hadn't expected this to happen. Then she slowly sat her on the bed, looked at her back, and said, "Well, I am going to treat it for you, okay."

Charlotte looked at her, still in pain, and said, "You don't have… to do that. I will be okay." Kimberly cut in her words with a kiss, and said after that, "Well, it's one of the things I should start doing for you. I just hope that I am not too late to fix things."

Charlotte looked at her, not knowing what to say. Words didn't come out, but tears did. Her chest tightened as emotions swirled inside her, and she struggled to hold them back. She couldn't stop her thoughts, replaying every word Kimberly had said, each one echoing louder in her mind. The weight of it pressed down on her, leaving her breath uneven and her heart racing.

She was frustrated and upset by the situation, torn between wanting to speak and being unable to find the right words. The silence felt heavy, and the tears became the only way her feelings could escape. Her hands trembled slightly as she tried to wipe them away, but the frustration only grew stronger, mixing with the ache of confusion and the sting of vulnerability.

Kimberly, seeing that, moved in closer, wiped her tears, and said, "It's not that I don't love you. I just… I don't know if I am ready to be different from what I already am. I mean, it's not that I seek you out—I want you to understand me more. All this time, we have never gone out on a date or anything, so I got lonely. But I stayed with you regardless of that."

Charlotte sighed. She didn't want to say anything bad, but she had to be honest with Kim, so she said, "Well, I am upset, and I do understand you. But when I saw you kissing another woman… I just… I don't know… my heart drooped. It's like I am responsible for our downfall, and now our relationship is like this because of that. I mean, I am crazy in love with you, and I don't want to let you go. I know it's not okay, but I don't really care, okay. I just want you."

Kimberly looked at her and said, "Well, I don't really have an excuse for why I did that, and I shouldn't have. But you aren't the only one who is responsible. I really shouldn't have done what I did. I can't say sorry and expect it'll be fixed. Can you please give me one more chance, so I can prove to you that I can make it right with you?"

Charlotte looked at her, sighed. It looked like she had enough of what was going on. As she gave up—she was just tired, that's all—she said, "A moment ago, you were ready to leave, and the door was open. You can go if you want, okay. But I don't want that to happen. You know I mean—I really want us to fix this."

Kimberly held Charlotte's hands and said, "I am really sorry. I know I messed up. And what I can say is that I will spend our life fixing us—you and me. And you are not going to be alone on this, okay. I am going to be here way more. I'll quit my job so I can't be distracted by anything."

Charlotte looked at her and said, "Isn't that your favourite job? And I mean, you don't have to do all that. You being here is okay, you know. And there's something I have to tell you…"

Kimberly cut Charlotte's words as she was about to speak something important. Kim said, "Well, I am going to have to treat this, okay." As she said that, getting up, she went to the bathroom to look for the first aid kit so she could treat Charlotte's bruise on the back. She took a towel too and soaked it with water. As she came back, holding all that…

Charlotte, with her words cut, wasn't a problem. She hoped something like that would happen, as she didn't know how to address it—Kimberly would think it was her fault and would be blaming herself. She didn't want to start that. So, she saw that it wasn't yet the time to talk about it. She waited for a good opportunity to say that, as she knew this wasn't a good time to reveal something like this out loud, especially in the state of their things right now. So, she found it best to not say anything yet.

Kimberly looked at her, remembering that she had something to say before she interrupted her. She then said, "Before I went to the bathroom, you were about to say something. What was it?" As she sat on the bed with the things she retrieved from the bathroom, she started gently taking off Charlotte's top to treat her.

Charlotte just turned, avoiding the question, but she didn't make it suspicious. She turned away, thinking of what she was going to do, and said, "Well, it's nothing serious. You shouldn't worry about that, okay. I mean, if you want something to focus on, it's my bruise there."

Kimberly looked at her, got a little suspicious, and couldn't help thinking what she was going to say. As she tended to Charlotte's bruise, she looked at her and said, "Hmm, wow. Really—now you switched to bossy mode quickly."

Charlotte looked at her, said, as she got a stinging pain, turned to look at Kim, and said, "Ouch. Uhm, I have to be. I mean, you are the one who did this, remember, so you'll have to play nurse today.

Kimberly looked at her as she finished cleaning up the bruise and carefully applied some ointment. She was gentle and attentive as she treated her. After some time, she finished and said softly, "I am done now… well, I can be a hot nurse for you, and I will take care of you."

She looked deep into Charlotte's eyes as she came closer, lifting her chin slowly before leaning in for a kiss. It was gentle at first, then a little rough, and Charlotte gasped for air as they kissed. Kimberly was so absorbed in the moment that she forgot about the bruise.

As she was about to lay Charlotte down on the bed, Charlotte's back landed against it, bringing her back to reality. The sudden jolt of pain shot through her body—sharp and undeniable—forcing her to remember the bruise she had almost forgotten in the heat of the moment. Her breath caught, and her face twisted with discomfort as the ache spread deeper.

The pain made her push Kimberly back instinctively, her hands trembling as she cried out. The sound filled the room, breaking the fragile silence and shattering the tenderness of the moment. Her voice carried both frustration and vulnerability, echoing the conflict between her desire to stay close and the reality of her injury

Kimberly, seeing that, felt really guilty as she slowly helped her up. She looked at her and said, "Sorry about that, I didn't… I forgot," as she rushed to check if she was okay, then backed down.

Charlotte looked at her, annoyed, and said, "Oh my god, again? What's your problem?" as she hit her with a pillow playfully, holding her back afterward.

Kimberly held the pillow she threw, as if expecting it, and said, "No… no, I didn't mean to. You know I'm really serious here. I mean, you are really pretty, and once we kiss it's kind of hard to let you go."

Charlotte looked at her, blushing and more annoyed, and said, "What the… so you're saying it's my fault now? You're the one who kissed me—how was I going to respond to that? I mean, you… with your… can you stop, or you'll hurt me more."

Kimberly giggled, happy to see Charlotte's playful and shy side. She said to her, "Aww, wow, it's always lovely to see you blush. You are so cute—I like that, you know." She kissed her on the cheeks and forehead, then backed away, got off the bed, and stood as she was about to go to the kitchen to make some breakfast.

Charlotte looked at her, turning instantly red. She snapped as she saw her leave, held her, and said, "Uhm… don't leave, please."

Kimberly looked at her and smiled, saying, "Aww, relax. I'm not going anywhere. I'm just going to make some food for us—I mean, we haven't had any yet. Remember, if you don't trust me, I can give you, my phone."

Charlotte let her go and said, "Well, if you are willing to do that, then okay. I mean, I know how you are with it."

Kimberly looked at her, gave her phone, and said as she was leaving for the kitchen, "What I know is that it can't top my love for you."

Charlotte, hearing that, got a little annoyed while blushing because of what she said. She then replied, "You know, I am very hungry, you know."

Kimberly giggled as she looked at her and said, "Aww, okay fine, I will stop," as she went to the kitchen to start making breakfast.

"Sometimes fixing what is broken is better than starting something new. Communication is key, but understanding is everything—because you can't listen to what you can't understand.

What if our souls are not complete, and finding a soulmate completes them? Love is not hard; people make it hard."
