Chapter 49 - The Descendants

"How many qualified ones are there?" Sirin walked up beside Bronya and asked.

"About a few dozen," Bronya replied.

Women were generally more emotional than men—more prone to acting on feelings.

Of course, that wasn't an issue.

She didn't intend to turn them into emotionless killing machines.

However—

Those who were too naive, too soft-hearted, or unsuited for battle had to be removed from the frontlines.

"A few dozen, huh? That's fine."

Sirin nodded. As long as there were enough qualified candidates, it was acceptable.

The vanguard for world conquest needed people skilled in combat, quick to adapt, and mentally strong.

Just then, Bronya detected a nuclear missile launch from America, flying toward Japan.

The missile detonated in the upper atmosphere, generating a massive electromagnetic pulse that severed circuits and disabled electronic devices.

America claimed the missile had malfunctioned and was intentionally detonated midair to prevent casualties.

But to fly that far only to explode above a city?

Clearly intentional.

In America, civilians owned countless firearms—gun stores dotted every corner.

After the first wave of zombies, the domestic crisis had already been brought under control.

Then, using the excuse of "eliminating zombies," they began stirring up trouble worldwide.

"Courtesy demands reciprocity. I'll send them two gifts."

A blue holographic interface appeared before Bronya, displaying America's global military bases.

Zombies alone could never breach them.

But she could.

Of the six military bases in the Far East, Bronya controlled five—all equipped with nuclear missiles.

However, their original range couldn't reach North America—they could only strike nearby nations.

Using nanomaterials, she modified and upgraded the missiles, extending their range to reach anywhere on Earth.

Once she confirmed the launch, two specially modified nuclear missiles shot out from their silos, accelerating to Mach 40 as they streaked toward North America.

In less than ten minutes, they reached a major city and detonated in the skies above.

America attempted interception—but at Mach 40, the missiles easily broke through every defense and anti-missile system humanity possessed.

To put it in perspective—

The fastest human missile barely reached Mach 30.

This speed was beyond comprehension—alien-level technology.

The two modified nuclear warheads exploded, blossoming twin mushroom clouds. Instantly, America fell silent.

They had no choice.

With such an overwhelming technological disparity, resistance was meaningless.

Governments worldwide soon took notice of small groups of three to five young girls appearing in their cities.

They watched from the shadows, sent agents to make contact, to gather information.

Their findings were shocking.

It seemed that, to these girls, their world was merely a game.

They were players.

Could this world be a virtual simulation?

Impossible.

Zombies reacted only to sound—set a few traps, make some noise, and lure them into fire or explosions; easy.

But these mysterious beings—without identities, acting as they pleased, possessing abnormal powers—posed a far greater threat than the mindless undead.

Humanity gave them a name:

The Descendants.

Naturally, the appearance of zombies was blamed on them.

Soon, Honkai squads worldwide found themselves hunted and attacked by human militaries.

Could they tolerate that?

No.

Bronya's plan had always been to conquer this world through force.

Once full-scale conflict began, she executed her strategy—seizing and destroying all satellites, taking over global networks, and cutting off communication.

Bronya fully leveraged the overwhelming power of her units.

A single three-person Honkai squad could annihilate an entire military base.

With Fleet of Fog's Klein Fields, Honkai squad members could charge through gunfire and explosions, mowing down enemy soldiers with cold weapons like unstoppable war gods.

The use of melee weapons wasn't out of style—it was simply to conserve nanomaterials and energy.

They could easily create firearms from nanomaterials—but under normal circumstances, there was no need.

They could also seize enemy weapons for their own use.

After entrusting the task of conquering the world to her two daughters, Kiana Kaslana disguised herself and joined one of the Honkai squads.

Honkai Squad Thirteen.

The captain's name was Aisha.

Kiana Kaslana sat on the edge of a rooftop, overlooking the zombie-filled streets below.

Turning her head, she glanced at the short-haired brunette standing elegantly against the wall.

"Captain, have we received any new missions lately?"

"Sorry, nothing yet."

Aisha looked at her system interface—completely blank.

In Honkai Fantasy, missions had to be manually accepted, with those closest to the player taking priority.

"Then why don't we move somewhere else?"

Kiana stood up and brushed the dust off her clothes.

The squad had originally consisted of three members, but one had quit after becoming nauseated by zombies and corpses.

Kiana had briefly considered adding censorship mosaics to the bodies.

But after thinking about it—she decided against it.

Anyone who quit over something like that wasn't fit to be here.

Walking up to Aisha, she wrapped her arms around the girl's soft body, nuzzling against her.

Though their bodies were made of nanomaterials, the sensation felt completely real.

"Don't do that."

Aisha looked down at the white-haired girl rubbing against her like a cat, her cheeks faintly red.

This girl had no concept of personal space—always clinging, always hugging.

Before, it hadn't bothered her.

But now, it was getting hard to shake her off.

"Aisha, do you hate me?" Kiana asked, looking up with pitiful eyes.

"Fine, fine. Hug if you must."

Aisha knew she was faking it, but she still reached out and gently patted the girl's head.

"Let's go."

"Where to?"

"Back to the safe zone."

Without hesitation, Aisha leapt from the rooftop.

Kiana followed right after.

As they neared the ground, their internal anti-gravity systems activated, allowing them to land lightly and unharmed.

Zombies shambled toward them from all directions.

Aisha's hands formed twin swords from nanomaterials, each one gleaming with a silver edge.

"Guess I'll stick with cutting."

She combined the two swords into one massive ten-meter blade.

With a single sweeping strike, she cleaved through the incoming horde, bisecting dozens of zombies in one motion.

Nanomaterials were incredibly light, and the blades they formed could slice through steel like butter.

Combined with the immense strength of her nanomaterial body, Aisha swung the colossal sword effortlessly, cutting down zombies as easily as chopping vegetables.

They returned to the safe zone—a military base occupied by Honkai Squad Three.

Inside, many Honkai squads were trading supplies scavenged from the outside world.

In addition to the Honkai squads, numerous female survivors were also present.

In this world where order had collapsed, female survivors in the hands of male survivors had become nothing more than objects of trade—used freely to vent lust or exchange for goods.
