Chapter 10 - The Elven delegation

Gareth enters the throne room, and is surprised to see a dozen elves inside. "Mother why are they here?" He asks. Antoinette replies. "They apparently wish to renew our alliance. Why now after so many years I don't know." Gareth says. "How are we to trust them." Overhearing their conversation, a beautiful elf with light blue hair, generous curves and long pointed ears approached Gareth. "I am princess Elowyn, pleased to make your acquaintance prince Gareth." As she spoke she looked at Antoinette expectantly. "Gareth, the Elven delegation is offering Elowyns hand in marriage, as a gesture of good faith to secure the alliance, as well as 50,000 troops to reinforce our border." "That doesn't answer my question." Gareth replies, showing his distrust. Elowyn frowned and said. "How about we start by getting to know each other?" Gareth asks "has anything been decided yet?" Elowyn replies "your mother accepted, but only if you approve of me, I hope i am up to your standard."

Gareth lead Elowyn to the private garden. So, how do you feel about this? Can you tell me about yourself? I'm not sure if this was as sudden for you as me or not.

Elowyn thought and then replied.

I find you... much more mature then I expected, and your young and handsome, so far it's better then I expected. I was told about it a few weeks ago, so it is less of a shock for me. As for about me, hmm, I focus on wind magic and nature magic, I am a skilled healer, and I really like this garden. Elowyn started giggling and her voice became even more majestic.

Gareth replied.

I have felt enough betrayl, if you aren't ready to full commit to me, say so now.

Elowyn gently took his hand.

I swear I will never betray you, I don't know what you have suffered, but let me share your burdens, and I will support you fully.

Gareth hesitant, taken aback by her commitment, and the genuine tone and expression she used.

Thank you Elowyn, I can't ask for anything more then that, so if you wish to get married I am for it.

After a celebration and banquet, the wedding was set for 2 weeks into the future, and no one was prepared for the unannounced visitor at the wedding.
