Chapter 5 - Teamwork

Chapter 5

We decided to simulate a scenario where we'd encounter a group of hostile creatures. Johan, Vivian, and I worked together seamlessly, our abilities complementing each other perfectly.

Johan was at the front, I was in the middle, and Vivian was at the back with a long-range attack.

As the creatures attacked, We adapted to their movements, anticipating their strikes and dodging with ease. Vivian attacked from the back, while I adapted to the middleman role not too bad there I said and Johan used his strength to deliver powerful blows, taking down the creatures with swift efficiency.

The simulation was a success, and we worked together flawlessly. Vivian observed from the backlines as she could see all we do, nodding approval.

"I think we're ready for whatever comes next," Johan said, grinning.

I smiled, feeling confident in our teamwork. "Let's keep practicing and fine-tuning our strategy.

We discussed our next move, and we are planning to leave the next day. We rested at the same building that night and had dinner together.

The next morning, we set out to continue our journey. Vivian and I noticed that Johan seemed more energetic than usual.

"What's gotten into you?"Vivian asked, eyeing me curiously.

"I think it's just the anticipation of journeying in the new world like an adventure," Johan replied, smiling.

As we journeyed on, we encountered a particularly challenging terrain-a dense forest with cliffs and raging rivers. The air was thick with miasma, and the light was scarce.

"This looks treacherous," Johan said, hesitating.

I looked at them and saw that they were not comfortable with the environment. The miasma was making it hard to breathe, and the dense foliage made it difficult to navigate.

System notification: poisonous gas detected. Adapting…..

Thanks to my adaptation ability, I was undaunted by the toxic environment. My body began to adjust, and my senses heightened, and my reflexes quickened.

"Cober yourself with your aura to avoid the external environment," I advised Vivian and Johan.

They watched in awe as I led the way, navigating the treacherous terrain with ease. Vivian followed my instructions, and her eyes widened in amazement.

"Wow, can't believe this. It's incredible!" she exclaimed, looking at her body.

Johan nodded in agreement. "You're like a different person!"

I was amazed they could get the hang of controlling the aura over their body, even though not perfect at the moment.

As we pushed through the forest, my adaptation ability proved invaluable. We encountered hostile creatures, and I adapted to their attacks, using my agility and strength to protect my companions.

Vivian and Johan relied on me more heavily, trusting in my ability to keep them safe. As they could not maintain the aura over their body while fighting. I maintained my aura for protection and fighting simultaneously, ensuring their safety.

As the day wore on, we continued to navigate through the dense forest. Vivian and Johan followed closely behind, their movements cautious but determined.

After a few hours of navigating and facing some obstacles, we noticed the day was far spent and the air was growing chilly. We determined it was getting late and decided to take a break.

We found a clear area in a cave beside a riverbank and settled down, resting and reassessing our surroundings. We entered the cave and made a campfire, its warm light illuminating the darkness.

Vivian and Johan sat down, looking relieved. "Thanks for keeping us safe," Vivian said, smiling.

I nodded, smiling back. "No problem. We're in this together."

As we rested, we reassessed our surroundings and planned our next move. The cave provided a safe haven and the river nearby offered a source of fresh water.

Johan stood up to scout the surroundings, but he was too weak.

"Don't force yourself too much," I said. "That was your first time using that method to sustain yourself. I'm surprised you managed to pull that off on your first try."

Vivian chimed in, "He's right, you should rest more to recover. You shouldn't make irrational movements when you've almost depleted all your aura."

I knew Vivian was a little bit adept in controlling aura, but never thought to gauge someone else's aura.

I added, "Eat and rest then we talk about what next."

I went out to refill our water can and gathered some fresh fruit from the nearby trees. Vivian brought out some dried meat we had stored, and I handed out the fruit and water to help us recover our stamina.

Vivian gulped down her food and let out a satisfied burp. "Wow, I can't believe I ate this much," she said, apologizing with a giggle. "So sorry for that."

Johan chuckled and burped louder than Vivian. "It's fine anyway." He teased me, "Mr Cool, it's nice of you only to take a fruit and a little meat, acting all goody because a lady is here."

I smirked, "I ain't got some bone stuck in my throat and about to throw up, Mr Gluttony." Vivian burst out laughing at the jab.

Vivian playfully chimed in, He got you there, Mr. Gluttony." Johan pretended to be offended, "Hey, I ain't Mr. Gluttony. Put some respect in me, man. I'm athletics, you know."

Vivian teased him further, "Aye aye, we heard you, Mr. Athlete. You need some rest now."

Vivian and Johan ate their fill and were both exhausted afterward. They lay down, resting and recovering from their exertions.

I carefully examined Johan's aura, noticing it had become dull and weak, like a blight. I encouraged him to drink more water and relax, which he complied with.

As they rested, I kept watch, ensuring their safety and ours. The cave was quiet, except for the sound of the river flowing outside.

I kept watch, ensuring Vivian and Johan's safety as they recovered. Meanwhile, I took a moment to check my stats.

To my delight, my growth was more appealing than the last time I checked. While I was pleased with the progress, I knew I still had a way to go before reaching my goals.

I felt a sense of determination, knowing I needed to continue pushing myself to reach my full potential.
