Chapter 43 - target

In a large room, a crystal chandelier cast a soft glow. A huge table sat in the center like a formal warship conference room — polished wood, the faint aroma of Belfast's tea filling the air.

Yuuto sat at the head chair, palms touching the table surface.

"Now, the main target."

His voice was light but firm.

"We already know who our primary target is — a Transmigrator."

Yamato, sitting sideways, nodded solidly.

"We happened to find the target."

He glanced to the side.

"Belfast, hand them over."

"Yes, Miss Yamato."

Belfast stepped forward gracefully and handed Yuuto and everyone present several newspapers. Afterwards she stood directly behind Yuuto's chair.

Yuuto stole a glance back, puzzled.

Belfast only smiled politely.

Yamato spoke again.

"I need confirmation from Kuroneko first. Is this person from the original story? I don't want us to target the wrong person."

Kuroneko stared at the paper with an ultra-serious expression — very unlike her usual self. She flipped page after page quickly.

Finally she exhaled.

"No. I don't recall this person in One Piece's main story."

Yamato folded his arms.

"So Kuroneko's guess that a Transmigrator joined the Marines was right."

Lady Avalon leaned forward.

"Can you explain, Kuroneko?"

Kuroneko stood and took the paper to the whiteboard. She stuck the photo up so everyone could clearly see the man's face.

A handsome young man, long black hair, sword-like brows, wearing a Marine uniform. Rank: Vice Admiral. Not even thirty.

Sah Oni — The Youngest Vice Admiral in Marine History

Kuroneko pointed at the photo with a marker.

"A cunning Transmigrator would almost always pick a side opposite the original MC. It's rare for a Transmigrator to be on the same side as the original MC."

Yuuto, Miku, and Lady Avalon watched the face intently.

Kuroneko scratched her head and sighed.

"A person who rose ranks this fast should be famous. But he isn't. I've noted every One Piece face — there's no Sah Oni. With a face like that, he'd DEFINITELY be popular among female fans."

Miku bit her lip.

"So… what do we do?"

Kuroneko didn't answer immediately. She looked out the ship's window at the black waves of night.

Then she answered simply:

"…Strike without mercy."

"Without mercy?" Miku repeated.

Kuroneko turned and looked at them with a cold, villain-like expression straight out of an 8,000-chapter webnovel.

"Yes. When we meet a Transmigrator… drop a bomb or something. Brutal. No negotiation, no mercy. If possible, take Rhongomyniad down with them."

"Aren't you going too far?" Miku asked, worried.

Kuroneko sighed.

"Miku, this is a Transmigrator. They can bend fate. We must attack them with full force."

"You really hate them, huh," said Miku.

"Yes, and I've wanted to do this to them for a long time," Kuroneko replied.

Lady Avalon chuckled — her smile like a witch enjoying chaos.

"That sounds… fun~ But where do we find him?"

Kuroneko pointed to a poster.

"Simple. We watch the original MC — Luffy. The Transmigrator will come to Luffy to try to kill him."

Yamato swallowed.

"B-but why would he try to kill Ace's brother? Luffy's… nice. You know the story; everyone likes him."

Kuroneko answered Yamato.

"Because that's exactly the rotten nature of Transmigrators, Yamato. I've read hundreds of stories. When they pop into another world, the first thing they do is—remove the protagonist, steal the spotlight, take everything, grab all the heroines. Classic formula."

Lady Avalon raised an eyebrow.

"You know a lot, Kuroneko…"

Kuroneko shrugged.

"…hobby."

Miku covered her mouth, shocked.

"W-why would they do that…?" Her voice broke. "Can't they just live alongside the originals?"

Kuroneko sighed again.

"No. If the original MC is female, a Transmigrator can live alongside by marrying them."

She raised one finger.

"But if the original MC is male…" Kuroneko looked at them one by one.

"…don't count on it."

Lady Avalon smiled, relishing the drama like a VIP spectator.

Kuroneko continued, nastier this time.

"You could say they represent people who dream of living in another world — but fear the original MC's potential. In short, they're a bunch of cowards."

Miku bit her lip, unsure what to say.

Yuuto leaned back in the big oval chair — it looked like a captain's seat. He listened without interrupting.

Yamato turned.

"So," Yamato asked, "what's your decision?"

Yuuto raised an eyebrow, incredulous.

"…Why do I make the decision?"

Yamato blinked.

"Huh?"

Yuuto pointed at his chair.

"And why am I sitting here? This should be your ship, Yamato! You should be sitting here as leader, not me!"

Yamato flinched.

"Oh, is that so?"

Kuroneko tilted her head, as if she'd just noticed.

Miku suppressed a small laugh.

Lady Avalon only chuckled softly — she had expected this.

Yuuto continued, glancing back.

"And Belfast… why are you standing behind me? You should be behind Yamato, right? He's the ship's owner."

All eyes automatically turned to Belfast.

Belfast bowed gracefully, her voice soft but… her answer froze the whole room.

"It's because you were the first man to set foot in my 'body,' and you are my type."

Silence.

"W-what do you mean by that…?!" Kuroneko's cheeks flamed.

Miku held her own hot face.

"B-Belfast-san… the way you talk… it's too mature…"

Lady Avalon grinned widely.

"Oh? It seems I've found a new ally."

Her gaze looked like someone who'd found juicy gossip.

Yamato, not fully understanding, just laughed happily.

"Hahahaha! Well, it's true! Yuuto's the only man who's ever entered Belfast's ship!"

Yuuto exhaled.

He rolled up the paper Belfast had given him and motioned with a finger.

"Belfast. Come here."

Belfast obediently came forward, bowing her head a little.

"Yes, Mr. Yuuto? What is it?"

Thunk.

Yuuto tapped Belfast's head lightly with the rolled paper.

"Watch your words. We have kids here."

His gaze landed on Kuroneko.

Belfast immediately paled.

"A-ah — forgive me! I didn't realize that wording sounded… inappropriate."

Kuroneko was stunned by the "kids" remark.

"Hey! What do you mean! You're not older than me either!" Kuroneko protested, puffing her cheeks.

"Hm, but I have the experience and body of a king over twenty… whereas you…" Yuuto grinned teasingly.

"Y-y-y-you…!!"

Kuroneko lunged to pounce on Yuuto.

Click.

Blue wind lifted Kuroneko into the air.

"HEY! That's cheating! Put me down!!" Kuroneko squirmed like an angry kitten.

Yamato roared with laughter. Miku laughed too. Lady Avalon laughed the loudest.

Belfast covered her mouth trying not to laugh, then suddenly stiffened as if realizing something.

"All right, I'll put you down. But calm yourself first," Yuuto said.

Kuroneko finally stopped struggling. Yuuto lowered her gently.

Whoosh—

The wind vanished… and Kuroneko fell.

But she didn't hit the floor.

Yuuto caught her in time — cradling her.

Kuroneko froze.

Her face burned like an alarm.

"P-put me down right now!!" she kicked the air like a captured kitten.

"Comman—Master Yuuto," Belfast said softly.

Yuuto glanced while still holding Kuroneko.

"Yes, I feel it. Don't do anything."

He lowered Kuroneko slowly.

Kuroneko bolted behind Miku, face still red.

"Yuuto, that was too much," Miku scolded, tapping his shoulder.

"Is that so? Sorry." Yuuto raised both hands in mock surrender.

Lady Avalon chuckled.

"Hahaha~ as expected of my student."

"Whooo! Cool! Was that magic? I want to try later!" Yamato said enthusiastically.

Belfast didn't laugh. She tensed and stared into the distance.

"Hahaha fine, we'll try it later but first—" Yuuto joked, then closed his eyes.

Click.

Yuuto snapped his fingers.

Fwuum—

The air pressure shifted instantly.

The whole ship seemed to rumble.

Then—

BOOOOOOOM—!!!

A cannon blast thundered from the sea. A high, shrill whine sliced through the night wind.

A cannonball flew straight toward the Belfast.

Everyone was shocked—

Yamato drew his giant club.

"ENEMY!!"

But Yuuto merely lowered his hand slowly.

The wind around the ship contracted—

Fwuoosh—

The cannonball was snatched upward by the gust, curved into the sky—

Passed over their ship—

And plunged into the sea.

BRAAASHH—!!

Waves surged like walls.

"HIIIIIII!! WHAT IS THAT?!" Kuroneko squealed. Miku flattened herself, protecting her head.

Yuuto opened his eyes.

Lady Avalon smiled faintly.

"Looks like… we have a visitor."

Yuuto exhaled slowly.

"Yes…"

He gazed out at the dark ocean.

"…a guest with no manners."

He lowered his hand.

"I'll make sure they pay for disturbing my time."
