Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: Survive Without Forgetting! Modia Awakening! The Secret of Protection!

The battlefield was a graveyard of flame and steel.

Smoke rolled through the shattered street, mingling with the acrid scent of burning circuits. Breaker looked around him—and what he saw twisted his heart. The once-unbreakable Ames Guard lay scattered across the asphalt, their metallic limbs torn apart, their glowing cores dimmed.

Even Sabine, fierce and loyal, was lying motionless against a toppled car, her armor cracked.

Above, the last of the HYDRA helicopters had fallen from the sky, leaving trails of smoke spiraling into the clouds. But the fight wasn't over. Five Winter Soldiers still stood amid the chaos, and around them, dozens of black-clad mercenaries closed in, their rifles glinting in the flickering light.

Breaker's sensors flared red. His systems were running hot, his frame damaged—but retreat wasn't an option. Not when his teammates still breathed.

"I'll protect them. All of them. Even if I have to do it alone."

It wasn't just a thought. It was conviction—the kind of purpose that no code could write, no machine could simulate.

And it was that purpose that made the impossible happen.

Within Breaker's core, something stirred—an awakening.

In the world of Modia technology, each synthetic being carried a latent potential, a point where emotion met logic—a "technological singularity." When triggered, it became a spark of humanity that transformed machine into something greater.

For Breaker, that spark had a name.

Guardian.

The desire to protect, no matter the cost.

"This… this is the reason I exist."

---

Nearby, Wren stirred on the ground, bruised but conscious. Through blurred vision, she saw Breaker standing tall against the encroaching enemy, his armor sparking with unstable energy. A faint smile touched her lips.

"So, you've awakened too," she whispered. "Looks like friendship really is contagious."

From the armored car, Henry watched the unfolding battle. One leg crossed over the other, he smiled faintly, eyes reflecting the blue flames outside. "Good," he murmured. "Now show them what it means to protect."

---

Breaker straightened, his gaze sweeping the ruined street. His red eyes locked onto the enemy.

"You," he said softly, his voice now layered with static and fury. "You'll all pay for this."

The ground trembled beneath his feet as he gripped the weapon in his hand. His systems roared to life, overclocking far beyond safe limits.

"Assault—bullet!" he shouted.

The Upgrade Key on his belt glowed, pulsing with power. It responded to his determination, spinning free from its lock as the activation sequence began.

A mechanical voice echoed through the battlefield:

"OverRise—Overload Upgrade!"

"Kamen Rider… Assault Wolf!"

Henry's smile widened slightly as he heard the sound. "He's doing it."

---

Up ahead, Bucky Barnes—the Winter Soldier—stopped mid-stride. His instincts screamed danger. The air around him turned cold, heavy, as if the world itself was holding its breath.

He turned, his metallic eyes narrowing at the glowing blue figure across the street. "Go," he ordered in Russian. "Stop him before he finishes."

The remaining four Winter Soldiers didn't hesitate. They launched forward, their augmented bodies tearing through the air.

Once, there had been hundreds of Winter Soldier candidates. Most had died within minutes of injection. Only a few had survived—and even fewer had endured the full conditioning. Bucky was the strongest, the prototype that outlasted them all. His word was absolute.

---

But Breaker didn't flinch.

He met the oncoming assassins with a grin. "Come on then, you bastards."

He pulled the trigger.

"Transform!"

"ShotRise—Shoot Upgrade!"

A single blue bullet burst from the weapon, streaking through the night like lightning. Bucky ducked instinctively, the projectile slicing the air above his head.

He smirked—too early.

The bullet curved midair, turning a full 180 degrees, its energy roaring like thunder. The glowing mass expanded, reshaping itself into a massive blue wolf made of pure light.

The creature's paws struck the ground, each step leaving glowing tracks of energy across the battlefield. It charged forward, snarling as it closed in on its creator.

The mercenaries watching from afar froze in awe.

"Wh-what is that?!" one shouted.

"Is that thing alive!?"

The blue wolf roared, shaking the air. Its body wasn't flesh—it was power incarnate, shaped by Breaker's will.

Bucky's expression hardened. He dove to the side as the wolf tore past him, the energy wave cracking the ground.

---

"Ready… GO!"

"Assault Wolf!"

The glowing wolf dissolved into a shower of light that surged back toward Breaker. It wrapped around him like a storm, fusing into his armor, his skin, his very circuitry. Red warning lines flashed across his face—thin streams of energy glowing like molten magma.

Breaker exhaled, steady and calm. Then, with a sharp motion, he raised his hand. The light scattered and solidified—forming armor that locked into place piece by piece.

The battlefield flashed blue-white as his transformation completed.

"No chance of surviving."

The voice of the system echoed as the last panel sealed shut.

Standing in the smoke was no longer the damaged officer of the Ames Guard. It was something else—a warrior clad in blue-black armor, its core pulsing crimson like a beating heart.

Every surface of the armor shimmered with kinetic energy. The chest bore a circular power node—reminiscent of Iron Man's arc reactor—its light swirling like a storm. Small missiles and micro-lasers were mounted across his shoulders and gauntlets, ready to unleash devastation.

Henry leaned against the car, eyes glinting. "The Assault Wolf Form. Excellent."

But he knew the truth behind that power: the stronger the armor, the heavier the burden. Breaker's frame was pushing its limits just to sustain it.

---

Bucky gestured sharply. The four subordinate Winter Soldiers leapt from the rooftops, descending toward Breaker like falling shadows.

They were fast—but not fast enough.

Breaker raised his arm. The shoulder ports split open.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Tiny warheads launched from both sides of his armor, streaking like yellow comets through the air.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Explosions erupted around him. The enemy didn't even have time to scream. Their enhanced bodies were thrown apart by the sheer force. Metal, blood, and smoke painted the night sky.

The shockwave rippled through the street. Mercenaries dove for cover. Even the asphalt cracked under the pressure.

And in the middle of that destruction, Breaker stood still—his armor glowing in the crimson rain.

He slowly lifted his head, eyes burning red.

"Your turn," he said, locking his gaze on Bucky Barnes, the last Winter Soldier standing.

---

Up above, the clouds flashed with residual energy. Lightning arced across the sky, illuminating the two figures facing each other in the ruins of New York's streets.

One, a relic of a past war—Bucky, forged from pain and control.

The other, a symbol of the future—Breaker, reborn from courage and purpose.

The storm between them had only begun.
