Konoha Village – Senju Compound, Tsunade's Medical Research Room
"Kid, how does that bloodline of yours feel?"
"It's… hot. Like burning — and stabbing pain."
Inside the lab, Tsunade's eyes gleamed with focus as she examined the readings before her. Ye sat obediently on the operating bed, answering each question honestly.
"Enough. Stop now — your cells are already starting to erode!"
At her sharp command, Ye gritted his teeth, and the black, flame-like markings receded slowly from his cheek and half his body.
Seeing that, Tsunade's eyes flickered with scientific curiosity.
"It hurts… when it fades, it's like every cell in my body is screaming," Ye muttered.
Tsunade gave a low chuckle. "Of course it does. That bloodline of yours eats away at your body with every use. The corrosion is slow — but once it fully takes over, you'll lose yourself entirely."
She leaned back in her chair, speaking with calm detachment. "Of course… there's some luck involved."
Having finished her inspection, Tsunade sat cross-legged, jotting down notes. "While it corrodes you, your body is also adapting. As long as you don't overuse or exhaust it, and keep taking the stabilizing reagent I give you, your condition should normalize in five to six years."
Ye listened quietly, nodding respectfully.
To the world's best medical-nin, his condition had been classified as a bloodline disorder — a genetic incompatibility caused by two kekkei genkai fighting for dominance inside his body.
"Thank you, Captain Tsunade."
As the final drop of the IV fluid entered his arm, Ye pulled out the needle. Tsunade's gaze followed his movements, silent but assessing.
He was still pale and weak, but he managed to stand from the bed.
Here's your bill."
She tossed him a slip of paper. Ye took it, glanced down — and his eyes widened.
"Twenty… twenty thousand ryo!?"
He almost shouted the number. Sure, he'd known the stabilizer was expensive — but this?
Tsunade arched a brow. "Twenty thousand's expensive? The formula's custom-made for your unique condition. The dosage can't be too strong or too weak. I've had to adjust and monitor your vitals each time — not to mention the amount of reagent wasted during testing."
Ye's lips twitched. He was speechless.
Twenty thousand! In the shinobi world, that was equivalent to the pay from a full B-rank mission — before Konoha's tax cut and equipment expenses.
(Official mission payout chart: D-rank — 5k–50k, C-rank — 30k–100k, B-rank — 80k–200k, A-rank — 150k–1M, S-rank — 1M+)
Seeing his dumbfounded expression, Tsunade's lips curved in amusement. She'd managed to spook him a little, at least.
"Don't worry. For Konoha's sake, I'll prepare your doses regularly," she said.
But before she finished, Ye suddenly bowed deeply.
"Captain Tsunade, I'll repay you. I promise."
His tone was firm, his eyes unwavering. Tsunade froze for a heartbeat, then sighed inwardly.
Stubborn, proud, refuses to owe anyone… typical Uchiha.
Her head throbbed faintly. Every Uchiha who managed to awaken their Sharingan seemed to share the same madness.
The lab fell into silence.
Ye straightened, bowed respectfully again. "I'm sorry, Captain Tsunade."
It was half an apology, half lingering guilt — the echo of his performance about Nawaki's death still clinging to him.
As he turned to leave, Tsunade's voice stopped him.
"This is your bloodline analysis report."
A scroll arced through the air toward him. She made an X with her fingers across her eyes, signaling dismissal.
"Thank you, Captain."
He caught the scroll and left quietly.
The door closed with a soft click. Footsteps faded.
Only then did Tsunade let her shoulders relax. She crossed her legs and rested back, one elegant foot dangling. The tip of her black heel caught the light, showing a flash of red-painted toes beneath.
Her sadness over Nawaki's death had faded, replaced now by quiet exhaustion.
"The Uchiha boy… and the shadow behind him."
Her brows knit together as her eyes turned toward the Hokage Rock through the window.
"Is the Senju clan really so threatening to them?" she murmured bitterly.
Uchiha Compound
"Ye, you've awakened your eyes!"
When Ye returned, the first thing he did was share the news with Mikoto.
Her reaction was pure surprise — then joy bloomed across her face.
"I knew it! You always had the talent; it was only a matter of time."
Her pride in him was genuine, and Ye couldn't help but feel a touch of warmth.
In this world, perhaps only the Uchiha truly celebrated his success.
"Mikoto-senpai, this is the report from Captain Tsunade," he said, handing her the scroll. "It also confirms… I've awakened two bloodlines."
He didn't hide anything. The name Uchiha meant he could only rely on the clan — not outsiders.
Betray the clan and trust the Hokage? He wasn't that stupid.
The Uchiha could give him far more than any politician ever would — and besides, Sarutobi Hiruzen would never trust a defector.
Within the clan, power and talent spoke louder than anything else.
He needed progress — and fast.
"Two bloodlines…" Mikoto whispered, eyes widening as she scanned the report. When she finished, her expression softened into a smile that glowed like moonlight.
"Ye."
She set the scroll aside and grew serious.
"Do you want me to deliver this to the elder… or the clan head?"
The clan head or the elder?
Two paths — two factions.
The current head leaned toward the moderate, diplomatic side. Elder Setsuna, Mikoto's grandfather, was a hawk — once bold enough to defy the Hokage himself.
Ye met her gaze and smiled slightly. "Mikoto-senpai, weren't you the one who said you'd been waiting for me to open my eyes?"
Their eyes met, and she smiled in return — a bright, genuine smile.
Mikoto Uchiha — heir to Setsuna's power and the only one who could inherit his influence.
Power and bloodline were everything in a noble house, and though she was a woman, her two-tomoe Sharingan already marked her as a genius.
And Ye — Ye was the ally she needed.
He wasn't foolish. The clan head's faction was strong, but Setsuna's hawks were biding their time.
Between helping the powerful or aiding the desperate, it was easy to see which earned more loyalty.
Besides, with Mikoto as his shield, the choice was obvious.
He wanted to improve.
He wanted strength.
No — he was too eager to improve.
