Chapter 4 - Mikoto Is Acting Strange!

Two days later.

White Fang of Konoha arrived at the front lines, and the morale of the Konoha forces immediately soared.

In the eyes of others, Uchiha Ye was just a lucky kid — getting the rare chance to return to the village with Tsunade's small team for rest and recovery.

Back when they graduated, the three best students of their year — Uchiha Ye, Senju Nawaki, and Namikaze Minato — had each been assigned to one of the Third Hokage's students as their jōnin instructors.

"Brat, hurry up."

"Yes, ma'am."

Ever since the incident with the intelligence scroll two days ago, Tsunade's temper had been noticeably short.

Still, in her prime — twin golden ponytails and commanding aura — she looked every bit the proud, heroic figure.

Uchiha Ye followed behind, scanning the area alertly. The group traveled swiftly toward Konoha.

Inside Ye's mind, however, a secret pulsed.

[Perfect Version: Chimera Technique]

Sealed in his consciousness was a forbidden jutsu that shouldn't even exist at this point — and it was a perfect-grade version.

In his previous life, it was something he'd obtained as a top-ranked player, a bonus from his first in-game purchase — who would've thought it would come with him into this world?

"This technique is powerful… but insanely difficult to use, especially at the perfect level," he mused.

In a world as real as this, he finally understood what "forbidden jutsu" truly meant.

It allowed him to devour and absorb others' bloodline limits — strengthening himself — but each fusion required a long period of physical adaptation.

"To make this work, I'll need gene stabilizers or something like them," he thought, his gaze shifting toward Tsunade.

Then, the corners of his lips lifted slightly.

He had the perfect person right in front of him — Tsunade, the greatest medical ninja alive. If things went smoothly, he would need her help after his first attempt using this jutsu.

After all, relying solely on his own amateur medical skills would take ages to produce the proper medicine — and those reagents were expensive.

Several days later.

The group finally returned to Konoha.

At the Senju Compound.

"Grandmother Mito, regardless of whether this intel is true or not, we must ensure Nawaki's safety!"

After reporting in at the Hokage building, Tsunade had rushed straight home — and now stood before Uzumaki Mito, her expression hard.

Mito looked old and frail now. The Yin Seal on her forehead could no longer suppress the toll of age; her life was nearing its end.

But after hearing Tsunade's account, her kind expression turned solemn.

"That old ghost Uchiha Setsuna… he's changed."

"So, he's finally learned to use shadows and schemes. I suppose that prison time taught him something after all."

The first thought that came to Mito's mind was how much the Uchiha elder had changed — from a reckless radical to a manipulative schemer.

"Grandmother! What about Nawaki?"

Tsunade's voice betrayed her anxiety. Mito simply snorted.

"So impatient. How do you expect to achieve anything great with a temper like that?"

Even the fiery Tsunade could only bow her head obediently before Mito, sighing in frustration.

After a moment's thought, Mito spoke again, her tone serious.

"Nawaki's safety must be ensured. But if someone is plotting against him even under Orochimaru's supervision, then you understand how grave this situation is."

Tsunade's face darkened, and she nodded heavily.

"Orochimaru is among Konoha's top jōnin. Very few can surpass him — and his caution is exceptional. If someone truly wants Nawaki dead, it'll only happen if he leaves the village."

There's an old saying: a thief can lie in wait a thousand days, but no one can guard forever.

Anger flared in Tsunade's eyes.

"Damn it! Have they really forgotten that the Senju still exist?"

Mito fell silent for a long time before sighing softly.

Despite her exalted status, she knew full well that a jinchūriki was nothing more than a weapon of the village. In truth, she was a prisoner gilded in reverence.

"Tsunade… I'm old now. I don't have many years left. If this intel proves true, then maybe you should take this chance to send Nawaki away."

Tsunade froze, staring at her grandmother in shock.

Mito only shook her head. "You may protect him this time… but what about the next? Konoha no longer needs the Senju clan of old."

The Senju of the past.

Those words struck Tsunade like a blow. She stood silently for a long time before bowing her head.

"I understand."

Konoha today was no longer the village her grandfather had built — no longer the age when the Senju stood above all others.

Meanwhile, at the Uchiha Compound—

"Finally back!"

Uchiha Ye stretched in the sunlight, his face blissful.

After months of constant rain and gloom in the Land of Rain, the warm light of Konoha felt heavenly.

Though the Uchiha were already isolated within the village, they hadn't yet been pushed to the outskirts, and their compound still stood in one of Konoha's prime districts.

"Welcome home, Ye."

A soft voice drifted from inside the house. Uchiha Ye froze immediately.

"M-Mikoto-senpai!"

Standing there was Uchiha Mikoto, a long sword strapped across her back, wearing her usual gentle smile — but her eyes seemed… off.

When their gazes met, Uchiha Ye couldn't help feeling tense.

Mikoto stepped forward calmly, and before he could react, she reached out and cupped his cheeks between her hands.

"Wait, Mikoto-senpai, don't— I haven't—"

Before he could finish, she gently pulled his eyelids open and said softly, though her words were cutting:

"Still haven't awakened your Sharingan, Ye-kun? What a little failure."

Her tone was sweet — her smile serene — but her words were merciless.

That was so very Uchiha.

Every Uchiha who awakened the Sharingan experienced emotional instability — their intense chakra often distorted their state of mind, making them volatile.

Mikoto's crimson eyes gleamed — two tomoe spinning slowly.

So she had evolved her Sharingan.

Uchiha Ye could only sigh inwardly in both awe and helplessness.

It figured.

The Sharingan's awakening and evolution always came from deep emotional turmoil — often through grief or pain. And after awakening, the rush of chakra tended to make new users emotionally unstable, easily angered.

"Mikoto-nee!"
