Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 - Joy Again

My Sister! At that unpleasant moment brother James walked in wearing stripy My pajamas, on his right hand was his iPhone 13 pro Max. He quickly understood the whole situation so he hurriedly grew me out of the sitting room to the kitchen. He pulled me upwards and told me to sit on a chair that was behind me.

"BENJAMIN, I know that you are shocked, But I will tell you this. You are old enough to decide on whatever you want to think, but that woman you saw in the sitting room was you Sister", He My paused to lean on a shelf.

"Life have been hard for us, for us all. We have gone through though situations and we were forced to make hard decisions, To survive we had forsaken ourselves, I just hope you don't see us as…..Bad people", He said, the manner in which he said this made it seem like he was still holding back information.

I went back to sleep, but I didn't sleep in my room. I slept in Brother James's room because I wasn't used to staying by myself.

I started living with my siblings and as time flew by, I became less and less scared of them, Years passed and our bond grew stronger. I go shopping with them once every week to buy all sorts of things, and they registered me into a private school, so I found joy in my life once again, I had no idea my joy could be so temporary until a certain day.

I was on my way back from school one lazy afternoon, an uber was driving me home because could mention 20 reasons they're busy and couldn't come to pick me up from school. I sat in the back sit of the car watching the strange man who was driving me home. I was neatly dressed in my school uniform which was; a yellow shirt, and long trouser, I wore a brown expensive sandal which my classmates adored. My uniform wasn't dirty at all but my hair was.

I was going home with rage, having the intention of shouting out all my feels on my brother. A boy in school had just bullied me, he only senior me with 2 years. I had weaponized the fact that my brother was now the richest man in our neighborhood, and he now took me as his pride and joy. Whenever I lay a complaint to him, he would visit my school the next day to yell on my principal and teachers, and they always obeyed whatever he told them, because he pays three times the amount all other parents pay for my school fess. I have also been receiving special treatment because of that.

Before we closed school that day, the principal had punished the boy I reported, but I still intended to make it a big deal. I knew if a complaint was brought to the school by my elder brother, the kid who insulted me would be expelled.

Soon I arrived at my house,

"Who would leave the door open", I thought as I walked out of the car and into our compound. I was even more shock when I saw a crowd in our compound.

"What are you all doing in my house!!", I yelled, and that drew everyone's attention. A bald man clothed in blue shirt then walked towards me.

"Young man, good afternoon….",

"Shut up" I yelled before he could finish his statement.

"What are you strangers doing here?", I asked him folding my hands.

"The FBI received an information from a neighbor that a criminal is being sheltered here.", the man replied, I could make any sense out of what he was saying, so I tried to ignore the conversation.

"Do you know who my brother is…?"

"Your brother is a wanted criminal along with your sister, Mr. James have been charged with rubbery of several banks, and your sister is a drug trafficker, she moves illegal drugs all over the world.

After hearing all this, I felt my heart beat racing, I couldn't shout of talk anymore. When actually took a good look around, I then noticed "POLICE" was boldly written on the side of the van that was parked in the compound. I also noticed the DO NOT TOUCH tape that was blocking the entrance of our house, just for a few seconds, through the crowd I saw Harper and James being dragged out of the house by police men. Instantly all my emotions melt, and a tear drop fell down my chick.

Hours passed and I sat by the gate watching, watching my life flash before my eyes, soon one by one, all the police and police vans left, Some of them offered to give me a ride to where ever I wanted to go, But I didn't have anywhere else to go. I have been behaving too arrogantly lately to my friends. I was lost, all alone again, No one to protect me, on one to fend for me, that was the first time I ever appreciated all the fortune I have found, but it was too late now.

I appreciated Dad, I appreciated Mom, I appreciated Grandma, I was grateful to Mr. and Mrs. Adam, and appreciated Mr. Ezra and Ezra, and I deeply regretted ever taking the orphanage for granted.

I slept in the compound that night but once it was morning, reporters started showing up, and so did the police, so I was forced to run away, I knew all the people I treated badly would see me on the news, and would mock my downfall. The pressure and tension kept increasing due to the questions The newscasters were asking, I couldn't stand it anymore, I ran out of the compound with tears gushing out of my eyes, I didn't know where I was going but my only plan was to run far away, far from the house, from everything, from my life, from my family's tarnished reputation.

I kept running until my legs gave up on me, I had been running for hours but to me it only felt like five minutes. I fell to the floor because of the large strain that I felt,

"Was this how it would all end", I thought to myself as I felt more and more insignificant.

"What was next for me",

"Where would I go",

"What would I do", a lot of questions came running through my mind, the depression I felt made my whole body numb, I was so stressed, I felt like my heart would stop, Or I wished it would stop.

I cried softly and held my chest, trying to get up was almost impossible but I still tried, I managed to sit properly on the floor, but I didn't feel any better, my eyes slowly cleared and that was when I noticed I was in the dump.

"Kid, what are you doing there!"
