Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

It's been a few weeks since I broke up with Nevaeh. I'm now 16 and trying to live my best life for now. Additionally, my cast was finally removed from my arm, which made me happy. One day, Ethan and Emy told me to get a backpack full of clothes when I asked why. They said that they rented a cabin for a week because there was a concert that Ethan's brothers invited them to, but it was only for adults, so they told me I would have to stay with Reno's kids.

When I heard that, I knew that it was going to be chaotic because of what happened last time. I knew it was bound to happen, but I knew that if I didn't mess with them, I would be just fine. So we got our stuff ready, then we headed off. When we got to the cabin, we were the only ones there, so we quickly unpacked our stuff and got things ready. While I was unloading my fishing rods, I noticed Reno's car just pulled up, and I knew that this was the end of the line for me. When Reno got out of the SUV, he was very happy to see me again. When he walked up, he gave me a big old hug and gave me a nickname, he called me "Lobo," Meaning wolf in Spanish. When I asked him why you called me that, he just said, "Well, you always wear a light gray sweater, and you are a little worried about seeing new things. So, is it a good nickname for you?" It sure is," I replied with a happy tone. While he walked inside the cabin, I saw his the kids walk out of the vehicle as soon as they saw me. I knew that we weren't going to get along so easily, so I just left them alone and did my own thing. I thought everything was going to be fine until the next day hit.

When my morning started, I looked outside and noticed that it was snowing for a bit, so I asked Ethan if it was okay if I could go fishing at the lake that was on the other side of the road. They said sure, but I have to be at the cabin before 5:00, and to stay safe, plus Reno's two kids were in the cabin, so if I need anything, just go to them. I said ok, but I will soon come to realize that was a vital mistake I made.

As I started walking toward the lake, I suddenly realized that I had left my hand warmers on the table. So I went back, and as soon as I was about to open the sliding door, I realized that both side doors were locked. I tried to open it, but it just wouldn't budge. One of them walks up to the door and tells me that they have locked me out, so I couldn't come back in. I didn't really mind them at all, so I just went straight to the lake. However, something was bound to happen. When I made it to the lake, it was really something special to me because it was nice, quiet, and perfect weather for me to fish, but it wouldn't stay like this for long. An hour goes by, and I caught at least ten trout, but I just caught and released them all. While I'm fishing, I notice that it has started to snow a bit. I didn't worry much about it until the snow started to go down a little bit faster, so I knew that my time was up, so I started to walk back to the cabin. When I started walking up the hill, suddenly, I lost my footing and began to slide uncontrollably downhill. Panic surged through me as I careened faster, my heart racing with fear. Without warning, a massive tree trunk collided with my skull with a bone-rattling force. My world faded to black as darkness enveloped me, leaving only the echo of that fateful moment ringing in my ears.
