Mother and I walked to confront the pastor,
We had sought his advice against liars.
Mother's blood stained the place,
Jesus' message tried to make its way.
.
Pastor Light came over,
His white hair and gown gleamed like a bright clover;
Mother and I shared the news —
But Pastor Light was far removed.
.
Adultery was the accusation,
Just two women faced with assassination.
Mother Mary's portrait frowned in grief;
Even she believed the circus freaks.
A man of God blamed us,
"You will be punished for your lust."
.
Hand and knees,
Bent like a beggar on the street ---
"Please, please Pastor Light," Mother implored.
He shook his head, eyes a dark sheen,
Lightning and thunder were seen,
The sparks held within Pastor's eyes,
He says this fortnight, we shall be tried.
