And somewhere in that mass, my son. Watching his mother face judgment.
"It's time," Miraya said, appearing in the doorway. She wore the full regalia of High Priestess—silver robes embroidered with constellations, a crown of stars that caught the light. "The sun has reached the equinox point. The ceremony must begin."
I nodded, not trusting my voice.
"Remember," she said quietly, "the ceremony is theater. Important theater, but still theater. Whatever happens, maintain your center. Don't let them see you break."
