Chapter 59 - Chapter 59: Elected Student Council President

Chapter 59: Elected Student Council President

The next morning at the Griffin family dining table.

Chris, who was drinking milk and eating toast, saw Stewie slowly descend the stairs with a pained expression, then head straight toward him.

"Help me into my chair. I don't have the strength to climb up."

Seeing Stewie's pathetic condition, Chris chuckled and lifted him into his exclusive high chair.

"My pleasure, little brother!"

"Hmph!" Stewie snorted twice at Chris's schadenfreude but said nothing more.

However, he'd filed this grudge away for future reference.

God knows how painful that stomach pump had been last night—that idiot Peter had even taken it upon himself to order an endoscopy "just to be thorough."

Thinking of yesterday's medical nightmare, Stewie shuddered.

"Chris, we already called the school and excused your absences, but Meg mentioned you were selected for Student Council President while you were gone.

So I'd still like you to go back to school today and see what needs to be handled. Besides, this is great for your college applications—student government looks excellent on transcripts."

Chris, who'd been enjoying watching Stewie eat with a grimace, was suddenly stunned by Lois's words. He hadn't expected the election results so quickly, especially with him not even present.

Meg, seeing Chris's surprised expression, said with obvious envy, "What kind of magic do you have that made so many students vote for you? God, I wish I were that popular."

"Shut up, Meg! You should be proud of your brother, not making sarcastic comments!" Hearing Meg's jealous tone, Lois sternly reprimanded her.

Meg, startled by Lois's sharp response, hunched her shoulders and mumbled, "Okay, Mom."

Chris, watching the scene unfold, was momentarily speechless.

Sure enough, no matter which version of reality, Meg being the family punching bag seemed inevitable.

Perhaps that was the price she paid for whatever cosmic role she'd eventually play.

"Alright, Mom! I'll head to school and check things out. I just hope my classmates aren't too intense about this, or it'll be awkward!"

After everyone finished breakfast, Lois drove Chris and Meg to James Woods Regional High School. Before they got out of the car, Lois mentioned, as if just remembering, "Oh, Peter said there's a surprise tonight. You two come straight home after school—I'll pick you up early."

Chris nodded uncertainly, then headed toward campus.

At the same time, he wondered, 'What surprise could Peter possibly have? Did that moron actually win the lottery?'

Unable to figure it out, Chris arrived at his classroom. The moment his classmates spotted him, they all stood up and applauded enthusiastically.

"Oh my God! Chris, you're finally back! Do you know what happened? You broke our school's record—elected Student Council President with ninety-nine percent of the vote!"

Hearing the class rep's announcement, Chris raised an eyebrow, feeling slightly irritated.

Which idiots were so clueless they didn't vote for him?

If the difference from one hundred percent had been significant, Chris wouldn't have found it so annoying.

But the problem was that he was only one percent away from perfection—wasn't this just deliberately trying to piss him off?

Fortunately, the quick-witted Johnny was in homeroom. After seeing Chris's expression darken, he immediately rushed to Chris's side and whispered, "Boss, that remaining one percent was because a few students were absent on voting day, so you couldn't get their votes."

Hearing this explanation, Chris's furrowed brow relaxed, and he said with a practiced smile, "Johnny, what gave you that idea? I'm just concerned that my classmates trust me so much, but I'm worried I won't be able to live up to their expectations!"

"..." Johnny stared at Chris in surprise, as if he hadn't expected him to have such natural political instincts. That was shameless even by high school standards!

"You seem very surprised, Johnny."

Sensing Johnny's impolite thoughts, Chris turned his head and looked coldly at his somewhat naive subordinate.

He'd just been thinking this guy was perceptive.

"No... nothing, Boss! I'm just moved to have a leader like you who genuinely cares about our classmates' wellbeing." Seeing Chris's gaze turn icy, Johnny immediately squeezed out a few tears and spoke with apparent emotion.

Chris gave him an approving thumbs up, then patted Johnny's shoulder. "You're learning fast! I'm starting to really like you, Johnny."

"Alright, class rep, have everyone sit down! Homeroom's about to start."

Hearing the directive from Chris, the soon-to-be-promoted president, the class representative immediately complied and had the students take their seats.

Chris attended all his subsequent classes without skipping.

However, although he was physically in the classroom, he didn't listen to the lessons at all, using all the time to research the rights and responsibilities of a high school student council president.

This put considerable pressure on Johnny, who racked his brain trying to explain everything with his limited knowledge of student government.

Fortunately, Chris only needed to understand the basics and didn't require Johnny to go into excessive detail.

After a few periods, Chris had grasped the scope of the Student Council President's authority—which could only be described as exceeding his expectations.

As long as Chris could mobilize enough students, he could essentially challenge the principal directly at school—and even win.

But if the students didn't support him as president, then he'd just be a nobody whom even random teachers could ignore.

However, Chris had secured virtually all the student votes, making him exactly the kind of powerful president who could directly confront school administration.

And if he leveraged some connections—such as asking Mayor West to pull some strings—Chris could potentially start building a political résumé that would position him for City Hall.

Three years of successful student leadership would be enough for him to immediately run for city council after turning eighteen.

Thinking about these exciting possibilities, Chris couldn't help but ask enthusiastically, "Johnny, how are those delinquents' injuries healing? Can they get back to work?"

Johnny didn't understand why Chris was asking this, but he answered truthfully, "Thanks to those new dragon blood energy drinks on the market, all their injuries healed up fast. What do you need them to do?"

"What do I need them to do?" Chris's mouth curved into a slight smile. "I need them to completely reform their bad habits: quit smoking weed, get their gang tattoos removed, and end their toxic relationships!"

"I want to establish them as model students in the shortest time possible, to demonstrate to the entire school how effective I am as Student Council President!"

"..." Hearing Chris's ambitious declaration, Johnny was momentarily speechless. Then he quietly reminded him, "But Boss, you're only provisionally elected right now. You won't officially take office until next semester. Right now, you're just a regular student."

"What?!"

Chris looked at Johnny in shock, his intense stare making Johnny tremble.

Damn it, I forgot about that!

Chris, whose excitement had been deflated, said listlessly, "Then let them stay as they are. I'm too lazy to manage them this semester."

Johnny wisely remained silent, though he couldn't help thinking that his boss had the emotional regulation of a toddler sometimes.

Still, with Chris's supernatural abilities and growing influence, Johnny knew he'd hitched his wagon to the right person.

Even if that person sometimes forgot basic facts about how student government elections worked.

The rest of the school day passed uneventfully, with Chris receiving congratulations from teachers and students alike. By the time Lois picked them up early—as promised—Chris had already mentally filed away student council business until next semester.

Right now, he was more curious about whatever "surprise" Peter had planned.

Knowing Peter, it could range from genuinely thoughtful to catastrophically stupid.

Chris was betting on the latter.
