Two days later
"Are you sure about this?" Kaive asked again. He paused, watching her closely.
He shifted his stance, lowering his voice. "We can turn back, I won't ask you any questions, or need any explanations from you."
A brief silence from Olessia followed.
"I didn't choose Qunara knowing what it meant to you," he continued. "If this place carries something you're not ready to face, say it."
Olessia stared at the carriage. Everything was already in place, ready for the journey to Qunara. The name sat heavy in her chest, stirring feelings she hadn't prepared for. Excitement had vanished, replaced by a tight knot she couldn't untangle.
Part of her wanted to step back, to pretend this was just another destination. Another part refused to move at all. She drew a slow breath, steadying herself.
Two days ago, she had agreed without hesitation. Now, standing here, the weight of that choice pressed down on her.
