They stepped out of the river slowly, water trailing from their clothes as their feet met the sand. Kaive dropped onto his back on the sand without a second, his arms folded beneath his head.
After a brief pause, Olessia lay beside him, close enough for their shoulders to brush. The sky stretched wide above them endless. Neither of them spoke.
Her fingers sifted through the sand, then stilled. His breathing evened out, slow and measured. The quiet settled naturally between them, as if words would only ruin it.
