Chapter 4 - Chapter 04: Features

Generally, a system like this has functions beyond just chatting with people from parallel worlds, so naturally, I tinkered with it and explored all the features within the system.

The first one I found was, of course, the chatting feature itself. Its function is clear—to talk with others—but the system cannot create private chat rooms.

Next, the Trading feature. When I checked it, it sold items from the system to its users. The regular number of item variations sold according to their levels was: 20 level 1 items, 15 level 2 items, ten level 3 items, five level 4 items, and two level 5 items. The higher the level is, the better the items are.

That wasn't its only function. We users could also barter with each other using items from our respective worlds. However, whether or not such transactions would comply with the laws of the world the traders belonged to remained a question for me. It wasn't stated anywhere in the feature's rules or usage notes.

The third feature was Item Storage. Simply put, an inventory, like in games. Its size was calculated as two times the number of group chat members, with the result measured in cubic meters. So, if there were five of us now, then the inventory would be ten cubic meters in size.

2 × number of group chat members = inventory size in cubic meters.

Quite clear and easy to understand.

I had already tried storing a phone and a bottle of water. The items went in and out without issue.

Oh, and there was also a starter pack that I hadn't opened yet.

The fourth feature was the Training Field. Simply put, it was a training ground with challenges adjustable to the user's needs. Every time someone entered the Training Field, time dilation would occur for that user, and their perceived speed would increase infinitely to the point where their original world would seem to stop.

Fifth, the History feature. This was useful for reviewing missions previously completed to evaluate skills and abilities. It could be used together with the Training Field for practice using collected data. It could also save data from Training Field sessions for future training. At the moment, there was nothing in it.

Sixth, free daily points. Like a daily log-in system, you'd get 20 points every day you were online. Compared to the store's prices, where level 1 items averaged around 100 points, it meant we could only afford one after five days, or roughly a week.

That was all there was. I wasn't sure if more features would appear in future updates, but for now, those six were available. Excluding the chatting feature, that left only five.

The Training Field feature would transport me into another dimension when used. I wasn't yet sure what that dimension looked like, but for now, I decided to check the starter pack given by the system.

["Starter Pack": A package intended for beginners. Contains equipment that can be chosen and the ability to compete with people from other worlds. Each member receives one pack whose contents are adjusted to their circumstances, abilities, weaknesses, strengths, and various other aspects (.... more).]

[Open?]

"Yes," I muttered, confirming that I truly wanted to open it.

[Choose weapon:

× Sword

× Spear

× Bow

× …

× Shield]

From so many options, I was only allowed to pick two pairs of weapons. Traditionally, characters in stories would choose a sword or spear since those were the most effective for beginners. My choice wouldn't be much different, but for now, I canceled and decided to check the other contents first.

[You have obtained "Source of Blank."]

["Source of Blank": A form of pure energy generator that can be transformed into different energy types and utilized in various flexible ways. A sample of another energy type is required to use different forms. You currently have no other energy type.]

This was a very interesting item. The energy produced by the "Source of Blank" was like a blank canvas. It could be converted into different energy forms, manipulated, and utilized in countless ways. Its potential could be said to be limitless.

[Choose training method:

× Sword Path

× Mana Core

× Aura Star

× Mana Circle

× Qi

× Spirit Zone

× Honkai Stigmata

× …

× Magic Circuit]

By choosing one, I could transform the energy generated by the "Source of Blank" into a new form, for example, if I chose Magic Circuit, the energy circulating within me would form a Magic Circuit and could be used just like an actual Magic Circuit. But this was merely a training method, so I could choose to study it or not, and I could switch between methods as I pleased—or so the instructions said.

So many options, but I could only choose one. How was I supposed to know which suited me best? Some I recognized were Honkai Stigmata, Magic Circuit, and Mana Circle.

Seeing all of this, I grew curious about what the others received. What did the other members get, and how would they choose? However, it was possible that theirs weren't multiple-choice like mine, since the system stated it would adapt based on many aspects. If mine had so many options, then there must be something that made the system think I understood all of this.

What if there was something that could enhance brain capacity? Maybe if I used that, I could recall more information forgotten from my past life.

I read the detailed descriptions and found that I could view information about each training method. So I decided to do that and began reading them one by one.

It took quite a while to read them all, but I found several that caught my attention.

Spirit Zone, Mana Circle, Qi, Magic.

Most methods focused on how to become a mage rather than a physical fighter—except for Qi.

The Spirit Zone method would create a zone in which its user became a "god" capable of controlling space within it. It could be shaped into various forms, such as cubes, crosses, or shells for protection. To use the abilities within, one had to study scientific and mathematical theories.

Mana Circle would create an imaginary mana circle around the body's core, believed to be the heart. The more circles one had, the stronger the mage. To use magic, the user must learn spells from the first Circle up to the tenth.

Qi was a form of energy cultivated in martial arts worlds. Its users typically enhanced their physical strength and moved swiftly through trees like ninjas. It was the energy used by martial artists in classical Eastern tales. Compared to the previous two, Qi leaned more toward close combat, though long-range abilities like Mind Sword and Telekinesis existed—but only achievable at the master level and beyond.

The last one was the most intriguing. Magic.

Yes, simply Magic.

Perhaps its creator was too lazy to name it properly, but what mattered was how it worked: by responding to the user's imagination and mental imagery. Its limits were one's imagination and magical power. It stated that the greater one's knowledge and energy manipulation skills, the more effective and efficient the magic would become.

Compared to the others—which focused more on underlying theories—and Qi, whose progress was slow and troublesome, Magic was truly the definition of a "tool." It could be used for spellcasting and also for enhancing everyday items through enchantments.

This was the perfect tool for lazy people!

Of course, I would pick this one.

[Training method "Magic" has been acquired.]

And that was the last item in the starter pack. I wouldn't complain or anything—it was generous enough from the system.

Since my curiosity had already been piqued, I used the Training Field feature, and my vision shifted like a kaleidoscope, pulling me somewhere as if I were being sucked into a black hole. My perspective stretched like spaghetti before returning to normal. But I was no longer in front of the temple—I was somewhere else.

Was this what they called a Timewarp?

I looked around and saw nothing unusual. Just a football field without spectator seats—only goals and player benches. It matched what was in my imagination. Perhaps it was shaped based on my mental image.

The system screen appeared beside me, showing the available features within the Training Field.

"Trial." It allowed me to try powers I didn't have, so I could prepare in case I ever obtained them.

"Summon." To summon enemies for training.

"Field." To change the environment.

"Recovery." To heal injuries sustained inside the Training Field.

"Pain." Allows injury and real pain sensation, but death is impossible.

"Time Dilation." Those entering the Training Field would experience time dilation, but aging wouldn't occur. Meanwhile, when two group members existed in the same world and one entered the Training Field, time dilation would disappear, and the one inside would experience time in real-time. If both entered, Time Dilation would function as usual. Time Dilation could also be adjusted for the group chat, so others would only perceive the user as being offline for a fraction of a second.

This place could also generate separate training environments for other members whose training models differed.

Although not stated, this Training Field could also be used to cheat during exams—and I intended to make good use of that.

After checking all its features and gathering the information I needed, it was time to train using Magic.
