Chapter 5 - An Entity Lurks

Lucius was like always sitting at the head of the table in the commander's tent waiting for something to happen. Luckily for the prince, he would soon find his fight. A soft and quiet looking man entered the command tent, claiming to be a runner from Major General, Ellis von Snow. He had a letter with him which requested all Heaven's Hand forces to immediately return to Snow's Rest. Knowing this meant that the Field Marshal had something in store for the Heaven's Hand. He was practically jumping out of his seat at this wonderful news. This was only something Lucius would call wonderful as everyone else was probably enjoying this peace time.

Lucius dismissed the runner and called for Arlen to distribute his orders to march immediately without delay. He also added that if anyone had a problem with it, it was to be directed towards Lenore but Arlen thought better than to leave that bit in. Incurring Lenore's wrath wasn't on his agenda today.

It took around a day to fully get the camp packed up and the soldiers ready for marching back to Snow's Rest. Much to Lucius' dismay. At the head of the march was Lucius, Lenore, Cercil and Arlen. His most trusted advisors and warriors who all earned his respect for various reasons. They chatted for most of the journey, it wasn't a long journey in any respect. Taking around a total of four hours to get to the castle.

"So Lucius, what do you think Miss Snow wants from us?"asked Lenore, just as battle starved as Lucius.

"Hopefully, it involves lots of fighting and worthy adversaries." answered Lucius, practically shining with glee at the opportunity to fight. He was also making up a devious plot in his head involving one of Heaven's Three which excited him even more.

"Only you brutes would be excited at fighting." exclaimed Arlen, looking exhausted by the two's constant need for bloodshed. Shaking his head to get his disapproval across to the two which was obviously ignored and his worries cast aside in their minds.

""Shush"" the two said in synch at the worrywart in the back unlike Arlen, Cercil was only a worrywart when it came to being left out by Lucius so Arlen didn't have any allies in this situation as Cercil was a bigger brute than those two. Cercil only shook his head as Arlen looked at him for backup. Arlen hung his head low for the rest of the journey.

The sky has always been pitch black in the Darklands, the land is covered in trees of darkwood and grass of a gray shade which makes the land look diseased and dying. This is where the many nicknames it has gained came from. Lucius has been in the Darklands fighting the Empire and the Dark entities for countless summers as the land is stuck in a perpetual night, tracking time has become the hardest task within the land. Only estimations of time can be made in the Darklands leading to a rising number of madness within the army. While many hate the perpetual night, Lucius has grown accustomed to it as it also grants him strength. He is able to summon his Lunar Moon whenever he wishes which is a reason for his continued survival.

Being an inhabitant of the Darklands for as long as Lucius has meant your senses hone and become sharper to the threats lurking in the darkness. Dark entities cause changes in the environment even if they are the most subtle, they can be noticed if you are experienced enough. Lucius raises his hand commanding the unit to halt, he frees his book from its constraints. Opening it and becoming one with the mana within it. Lenore, seeing Lucius' cautious attitude, does the same and releases her book and starts to flick though the pages.

Lucius noticed that all the sound in the area was slowly dissipating until it was completely silent. Nothing remained. Lucius casts Lunar Night silently without the incantation this time which he hadn't needed the first time and was just showing off to Lenore.

The Moonlight enlightened the forward path revealing a horrific creature which took the form of a giant bear with flesh missing throughout its body. Lucius recognized the beast as a medium tier "Blind". A Blind uses its sense of mana to attack the strongest opponent first using its overwhelming speed to overwhelm and destroy its adversary. Its glassy eyes were connected with Lucius' eyes preparing to attack, its eyes lit up green and hundred of fleshy tentacles rose out of its body swiftly closing in on the commander. Its attacks were stopped by the Lunar Moon which acts as a self defensive system for Lucius.

The Moon dispelled a mist of absolute zero to freeze the tentacles, it was followed by a barrage of icicles coming down from the heavens to shatter all of the tentacles. Lucius was about to command the Moon to deal the finishing blow when he saw Cercil jump into the sky with his greatsword slashing down on the beast while embedding his sword with an explosive amount of mana. The result of a massive explosion leading to the beast being completely annihilated and the road being ruined beyond repair. Everyone shook their heads in disappointment at the grown man's boisterous attitude, giving the man the silent treatment as they marched around the crater. Lucius didn't dispel the Lunar Moon until they were back on track towards Snow's Rest.
