Chapter 43 - Faith,post-23

Brooklyn community college|

Art campus

11 AM

Faith walked to campus with the familiar creatives, the thrift enthusiasts, designer clothes wearing, art-is-my personality types and those who just got it. Freckles considers herself the rare bunch who's outfits are just as impresssive as her paintings.

Making her entrance into her painting class, taking her usual seat on the middle where she was visible but not to noticeable to answer questions. Her lecturer, Mrs. Mabel

was the type cast of a art teacher, bracelets forearm deep, dresses that look like they've seen the Beatles live and flowing white hair that you would occasionally find a bead or the smell of walnuts. Sweet lady though.

"Ok class, today I'm assigning you with painting a historical monument and your reason for choosing it and the significance of it. " She announced, excitedly.

Faith froze for a second, her attention that was on her Polaroids tucked neatly in her tote bag was now on the lecturer who basically gave her a task that might span 4 night shifts of her to do...if she's motivated.

"And before any of act smart, the statue of Liberty is fine to paint but the student with the best presentation will get the best grade out of their sakes." She clarified.

Her classmates eyed each other like a poker game, looking to see who would try to play with them by choosing Liberty.

"Great, now I have to do research..." Faith muttered.

[Cafeteria]

The food hall was a very diverse area with budget friendly stores and allowance crippling snacks, no in between. Tia's shop was one of the places where you can get fries the sane amount as textbooks. Many go there to impress their crushes but leave with money for noodles and no number. Why was Faith there? Bo had gifted her with an allowance ever since yesterday, so like any rational person she needed to bless her new money by spending it on over-priced food that would only leave her full for a few hours.

"Faith, why are standing at the entrance of Tia's?" Marla asked. Marla is Faith's best friend, Coco-skinned, curly-haired girl that wears paint smeared sneakers, baggy pants that her shapely legs, a college sweater that's never of their college and a jade necklace. "Babe, I hope you don't expect me to pay–my money is strictly for new sneakers.

"Pfft." Freckles chuckled, the dimples and freckles combo was lethal in the sun. "Relax, I got it covered." She assured her,by taking out her card, sleek, black and definitely meant for professionals.

"Huhhh...where did you get that?" Marla asked.

Faith only smiled at her, looping their arms together as they entered the shop that swiped as much cards as tears. "Don't worry, Bo loves me a lot~"

[Quercus, wood shop]

Bo was working on a timber dinning table for a client in New York city. They specifically requested it to feel like comfort and smell like Earth. He never asks questions if they pay is good. The Carpenter was instructing his team to their portions of the project, his gloves were covered in sawdust, hair had a few pieces of timber in it and he was too calm to the point Fergy would twitch at his slightest movement.

"Uhh–Boss...you alright?" Fergy tentatively asked.

Bo was still stiff until he turned to face him," I feel like Faith's up to no good..."

"Ya girlfriend Faith?"

"The boss has a lady?" Spencer questioned, another trainee, short dude, slick hair and prominent beard that solidified his adult age.

"Not lady—ladies." Fergy proudly corrected.

"Fergy." Bo warned.

"Sorry sir!" He apologised.

Bo rubbed his temple, soothing hus mind for the incoming chaos. "Let's take a lunch break."

The second the words were said, all his employees took off to the lobby.

"...This team works of fear and financial gain." He chuckled, turning to his phone that was buzzing.

Messages~

Jane: Come home, I'm hungry 🖤

Bo: Did you finish the food I left you?

Jane: Yes.

Jane: I'm craving pizza and my tether...

[End of messages]

Bo looked at his screen, contemplating if an hour would be enough to get pizza and survive a neck biting session.

"Fuck–this lady has a hold on me." He sighed. "Off I go." He turned to the lobby, leaving the table for whenever he regains sanity.
