The car halted in the car park of a big mall. "We're here Grace. Let's go". Nora opened the door and helped Grace out of the car. She held his hand and led him into the mall while Desmond tagged along closely behind them. They headed to the other segment of the mall where the arcade was located. "What game do you wanna play?". Nora stopped before the counter then turned to look at Grace. "I...I...". Grace stuttered nervously. He was completely new to things like this. Gaming wasn't his thing. He had completely grown under two strict parents what wanted nothing but perfection in everything he did. His studies, his after school classes, his language, piano, music and dance practices were to be perfected in all aspects.
"Maybe a team game with you would do". Grace quietly said. "Uhn? You wanna play with me?". Nora asked happily. Grace slowly nodded while staring down, fiddling with his fingers."Alright... Ticket for two players then". Nora turned back to the worker and slipped few cash and got few game coins as an exchange. "Desmond, wanna play with us?". Nora suddenly asked as if noticing his presence. "No it's fine I'm working". Desmond brushed the offer aside. "Actually Grace asked for a team up game which I paid for. So you could be on the other team but we are short on a member". Nora explained.
"Oh!". Desmond calmly exclaimed then left. Few minutes later he returned with a young man who was clearly older than they were. "Oh! You got a partner?". Nora asked surprised. "Yes". Desmond gave a quick reply then glanced at Grace. "Yo, pretty girl. Hey kiddo". The man greeted. "Hey". Nora greeted. "H...hello". Grace also greeted gripping unto he pants tightly. Nora noticed the change in his expression then squatted to his height carefully observing him with concern. "Are you alright Grace? You don't like him right?". Nora quietly whispered to him without the third wheels eavesdropping. "I'm fine big sis". Grace forced a smile. "Are you scared? Tell me.". Nora asked again, locking gaze with Grace.
Grace slowly nodded then hugged her hand feeling embarrassed. "It's okay to be scared, okay?. If you don't want him we could just let him go". Nora said. Grace quickly shock his head in denial to Nora's request. "He didn't do anything, I was just scared". Grace muttered beneath his nose. "It's alright dear, Desmond and I are here. No one can harm you okay?". Nora assured, slowly stroking his hair. "Ohkay". Grace calmly nodded. "Let's play". Nora walked up to VR setup. She pointed at a seat next to hers to Grace. The staff careful watched Nora treat Grace with care as she placed the VR google on his eyes and slipped his hands into the VR controls, having a complete grip on it.
She slowly explains what he had to do and since he was a teammate he had to follow her up closely, watching out for enemies and decor. She returned back to her seat and got herself. After making sure everyone was ready, the mall staff started the game from the control source and wished them luck. The landed in a run down abandoned hotel that had it's rumours of harbouring ghosts, spirits and some possessed creatures. "Grace follow me". Nora's VR character gestured to him to follow her quietly while she scanned the area with the flashlight on her gun. BANG! Nora suddenly shot an animal that tried to attack her causing Grace to jolt up frightened.
"Are you okay Grace?". Nora noticed Grace VR character jolt in fear. "I'm fine big sis". Grace replied. "Wait! Hold up!". Nora's character gestured to him to hide and stay quiet when she careful heard footsteps. The footsteps stopped in from of their hiding spot. Nora ordered Grace not to make a sound. She quietly came out of her hideout appearing behind her opponent like a ghost. The frantic noise of gunshots filled the air as her opponent shot around aimlessly in the dark. "Shot him now Grace". Nora command.
