Early Sunday morning, Lu Ye encountered his landlady collecting rent in the hallway.
"Little Lu, did you hear any strange sounds last night?"
"Ah? I went to bed early yesterday. What exactly?"
"I'm not sure... Many people in the complex said they encountered strange things. The hallway lights wouldn't turn on no matter what."
"Our elevator clearly only has B1, but many tenants said they saw a B2 button..."
"It's okay, Sister Liu. The light bulbs probably burned out. I'll go check in a bit." Lu Ye smiled.
Sister Liu breathed a sigh of relief and said gently, "I made fish head soup today. I'll have Mr. Mime send some over later."
Lu Ye nodded and walked halfway to the hallway entrance before reacting, his expression turning strange.
"Fish head soup... it couldn't be made from Magikarp, could it?!"
The old six-story building used freight elevators, so electrical shorts were quite normal.
Lu Ye went to the first floor and checked the circuit breaker while replacing a light bulb.
"Strange, the light bulb was actually fine."
Lu Ye scratched his head and, as if possessed, walked into the elevator.
The dim freight elevator had damp air, with mouldy spots crawling over the sublet advertisements.
Below "B1," there was another blurry button—"B2."
Lu Ye rubbed his eyes, but only the "B1" button appeared before him.
"Seeing ghosts in broad daylight?" Lu Ye swallowed.
"System, how should this situation generally be handled?"

"You even have Smite and Great Dragon of Power!?"
"Whatever, now's not the time to complain—dare to give me some skills I can actually afford?"
[Recommended skill: Spirit Vision Lv1 requires 500 BP]

"Hurry up, hurry up!"

Before Lu Ye could think more, he cautiously looked around, and a cold sweat dripped down his forehead.
"There's... nothing?"
In the empty freight elevator, cold wind blew through, carrying a musty smell, while a dim incandescent bulb creaked.
The security uniform-wearing elderly man yawned outside the elevator.
"Young man, you've been standing in there forever... you're not relieving yourself, are you!"
Lu Ye left the elevator with a strange expression.
"Sir, there aren't any urban legends around here, right?"
"Sure are! My granddaughter told me." The old man perked up. "Said there's something called Kuchisake-onna, which is actually a Pokémon called Mawile."
"And that cat-faced old lady, guess what—Zoroark!"
"Sir, stop." Lu Ye's expression was strange. "Your granddaughter knows quite a lot!"
"Of course! My granddaughter is an elite trainer!" The old man said proudly.
"I know you, kid. Sixth-floor tenant. Haven't seen you leave in half a month."
"Look at you, young and capable. Not becoming a trainer to build achievements, holing up here as a little streamer—what's that about!"
"Thanks for your kind words." Lu Ye hastily retreated.
Walking toward the Pokémon shop, Lu Ye recalled the earlier scene.
"Probably not a supernatural event, just a Ghost-type Pokémon... that's quite reasonable."
Lu Ye was a firm materialist.
As the saying goes, speak not of strange forces and chaotic spirits—Fighting-type Machamp really does struggle against Ghost-types.
"I'll have the landlady find some elite trainers to exorcise it later. Should be fine."
Exhaling, after calming down, Lu Ye opened Meituan to search for nearby merchants.
"For lunch, there's a kaiseki restaurant here... Slowpoke Tail sashimi, 3,888 yuan per serving? Never mind!"
"Better go buy Poké Balls first." Lu Ye murmured. "There are several breeding houses nearby. I can check them out later."
In the system shop, 200 BP per regular Poké Ball was quite expensive.
Compared to that, reality's 500 yuan per Poké Ball seemed much more reasonable.
Arriving at the Pokémon shop, Lu Ye spent 2,500 yuan to purchase five Poké Balls, leaving 17,000 yuan in his balance.
But in the breeding house, Lu Ye didn't see any starter Pokémon he wanted.
"Eevee and Rockruff are very popular Pokémon." The clerk said regretfully. "Even with pre-orders, you'd need to wait six months in advance."
"It's fine, I'm just asking casually."
Like expensive pets from his previous life, Eevee sold for 30,000, while Rockruff cost nearly 50,000.
Lu Ye was genuinely strapped for cash.
Pokémon eggs for Weedle and Wurmple were cheap—you could pick one for two or three hundred yuan, though aptitude was left to fate.
Bird Pokémon like Pidgey and Taillow eggs were also available, around 2,000 yuan.
But Lu Ye figured rather than buying these common Pokémon, he might as well catch one in the wild himself.
"If you're capturing Pokémon yourself, please be very careful." The clerk said with a worried smile. "There have been quite a few injury accidents in recent years."
The plan to cuddle Eevee was declared bankrupt. Lu Ye could only helplessly return home.
The sun set in the west, dim twilight spread, and a flock of Spearow flew across the sky emitting hoarse cries.
"Caw—!"
Lu Ye played with the pocket-sized Poké Ball in his hand, pressing it with a snap to hold the enlarged ball in his palm, having a great time.
Entering the elevator with practised ease, a cold sweat suddenly dripped down Lu Ye's forehead.
"Oh no."
His vision suddenly blurred, the art style changing abruptly, as if someone had inverted the world's colour palette.
To describe it, like JOJO's bizarre colour shift—
That row of elevator buttons was covered in terrifying green bloody handprints.
The overhead incandescent bulb swung wildly, emitting screaming-like creaks, the filament flashing violently before finally extinguishing with a hiss.
In dead silence, the rotten, mouldy smell filled his nostrils, and damp, cold wind licked Lu Ye's neck like a crimson, long tongue.
Lu Ye shivered.
The automatically closing elevator door slowly opened after descending to the basement level two.
[Spirit Vision Lv1 judgment—Great success!]
A fluorescent green appeared before Lu Ye's eyes, scanning everything like "Eagle Vision."
At this point, Lu Ye calmed down instead and expressionlessly raised his head.
A pair of bulging white eyeballs, a smile stretched to the ears, a crimson tongue, a long tongue.
Gastly suddenly approached, just examining Lu Ye like this. They stared at each other for a full minute.
"Click—"
White light suddenly flared.
Lu Ye lowered his head, hands trembling as he sent a message to his stream's fan group.

"Encountered a ghost late at night. What do I do? Waiting online, urgent!"
