Zayed looked at them with a flat, almost idiotic gaze: "Rabbits are smarter than people, they're not that easy to snare."
Zara Chapman: "?" Was he calling her stupid?
Zara wanted to snap, but she knew that apart from Renee Morgan, Zayed and the others never bothered to be nice to her. The more she thought about this unfair treatment, the more pissed she got at Renee Morgan. If Renee would just speak up, the others would listen and help her and Wendy Aldridge get something to eat—how hard could that be?
But Renee clearly had no intention of helping. She was probably secretly pleased watching her and Wendy starving. If they couldn't hang in there, Renee would be even happier.
The longer Zara thought about it, the angrier she got. Her voice took on a crying tone: "So what now? The two of us are really hungry."
Wendy Aldridge's eyes reddened beside her, but she stayed silent.
