The following Monday as I walked into my literature class- a joint class i hated more than any other. But today the library incident was all over my mind so paid a little attention to crowd and for them I was just invisible. I kept my head low and took a seat somewhere in middle rows . Almost immediately,I felt an unfamiliar gaze from the back rows , someone was shooting daggers at me from behind as the time kept passing it became harder to focus on teacher so I gave up and turned .
And then I saw her ,
She was three rows back ,by the window the sunlight catching the dark strands of her hair.
The Girl from the library. My body went rigid. Of all the classes, in all the buildings, on this entire massive campus....
The professor's voice was now fading as the voices inside my mind were taking the lead , I didn't hear a word in rest of the class. I only felt a piercing gaze on back of my neck. I was sure she was staring, laughing at me internally. There's the pickup lines guy.
I could imagine her thinking.
The second the professor dismissed us, I shot out of my seat like a rocket desperate to escape the room but just as I stood up i felt an urge to clear things and with all of my courage I went to her but the second I saw her amber eyes the courage faded away in air and I was just existing there looking at her
" Hey. "
A voice, soft but clear came from her lips brought me back to senses .
"Look," I blurred out, my face already burning. " About the library.... I wasn't.... I was reading that romance book . The one you had . I came back for it and saw you , and I just wanted to talk about the book , and I picked up that other one as a prop without realising, it was the most embarassing thing ever happened to me ...."
The words were rushed and I braced myself for her to roll her eyes and walk away.
Instead, a slow smile spread across her face .Then a chuckle escaped her lips, which grew into a full , warm laughter that filled the classroom. It wasn't mean. It was.... Musical.
" Oh god! " She said, wiping a tiny tear from her eyes. " I thought you were world's worst
flirt." She struck out her hand . " I'm Carla."
I stared at her hand for a while before taking it. " Jin- I'm- Jin ." I fumbled again
" Well ,Jin -I'm -Jin," she said , singing her bag over her shoulder. I've decided today is the day i will find the best ramen in Roenn city. And your punishment for scaring me in the library is that you have to help me." Grabbing my hand she shouted " Let's go!."
The word coincidence was all I had in my mind
