Chapter 1 - (Ch-1) Rebirth: The Path of Power

Morphia — a wondrous and mysterious world, where every human's destiny is tied to their hidden power. The people here look just like those on Earth, but when they turn 18, their real journey begins.

‎At that age, they receive an opportunity — through the mysterious Awakening Stone, they can awaken the gene of a single demon. This power sets them on a path where strength means everything: the powerful can seize entire universes in their hands, while the weak live only in their shadows.

‎Normally, a person can awaken only one demon gene in their lifetime. That rule defines the strength and limits of most people.

‎However, in Morphia, a few chosen ones can go beyond this rule — but only if they are recognized by the Institute. A person can break this law only when their family possesses a demon gene passed down through generations. Only those whose bloodline carries such a legacy can awaken two demon genes in one lifetime.

‎Meanwhile, on Earth…

‎Aarav, a 17-year-old ordinary boy.

‎His eyes held dreams, but his life — no peace.

‎One day, while returning from school,

‎he saw a man —

‎a man holding a gleaming, sharp knife.

‎Madness flickered in his eyes, and fear twisted his face.

‎People began to run in panic.

‎The man had lost control

‎and, in his frenzy,

‎attacked a few schoolgirls.

‎Before anyone could react,

‎Aarav ran forward and stood before them.

‎He shielded one of the girls —

‎and the knife plunged into his back.

‎The blade was so deep it tore through flesh

‎and pierced straight into his heart.

‎As he fell to the ground, his lips trembled —

‎"...At least, I saved someone."

‎The crowd screamed, but before help arrived,

‎his body had already gone cold.

‎The murderer's hands shook —

‎he pushed Aarav's body away and fled in terror.

‎Slowly, everything began to blur.

‎Aarav felt darkness closing in on his eyes.

‎He thought to himself —

‎"They say your whole life flashes before your eyes before you die…

‎but I see nothing.

‎Maybe because… I never truly had a life."

‎Just then… a soft, warm hand touched his cheek.

‎A gentle woman's voice echoed —

‎"Ashok… wake up, my child.

‎Come to mama, let's go to papa."

‎Aarav's eyes slowly opened.

‎He saw — he was in a child's body.

‎His hands were small now, and his voice… that of a child.

‎"Have I… been reborn?"

‎he wondered silently.

‎"Is this real?

‎Have I really been given another life?"

‎His heart began to race —

‎perhaps some divine being had given him a second chance,

‎so that this time,

‎he could truly live his life.

‎At that moment, a voice came again —

‎"Ashok, come to papa."

‎Ashok looked up —

‎a tall, lean man in his thirties stood before him.

‎There was warmth in his eyes,

‎his hair was a mix of black and gold.

‎Smiling, he lifted Ashok into his arms.

‎Ashok felt a warmth he had never known before —

‎safety, affection, love…

‎a feeling more heavenly than heaven itself.

‎His mother — a 29-year-old woman

‎with soft golden hair falling gently over her shoulders —

‎spoke lovingly —

‎"Let's go home, Ashok."

‎Ashok felt as if he finally had everything —

‎a mother, a father, and a home.

‎Three hours later,

‎the car stopped in front of a beautiful house.

‎His father said —

‎"Look, Ashok, we're home!"

‎At the gate, written with flowers and decorations, were the words —

‎"Welcome, our son Ashok."

‎Seeing this, a wave of happiness ran across Ashok's face.

‎He burst into laughter —

‎and his parents embraced him lovingly, laughing along.

‎As they entered, Ashok saw

‎an old man sitting on the sofa, around 80 years old.

‎But the moment he saw Ashok —

‎he sprang up as if he were a young racer at the starting line!

‎In the blink of an eye, he stood before Ashok.

‎His deep, thunderous voice rang —

‎"Dhirendra! Give me my grandson!"

‎Ashok then realized —

‎his father's name was Dhirendra,

‎and this old man was his grandfather.

‎As soon as the grandfather took Ashok in his arms,

‎he began playing with him joyfully —

‎as if he himself had turned into a child again.

‎Seeing this, his parents smiled warmly.

‎After a while,

‎grandfather grew tired,

‎so Ashok's mother brought him tea

‎and took Ashok to feed him milk.

‎That's when Ashok realized —

‎he was only two years old in this world.

‎After drinking milk, when he was laid in the cradle,

‎he pretended to sleep.

‎But as soon as everyone left the room —

‎he opened his eyes.

‎Suddenly, a metallic voice echoed in the room —

‎[Hidden Condition Activated!]

‎> "Host has fulfilled a secret condition —

‎'Reconnection Between Worlds'.

‎Upon completing this condition,

‎the Host is granted a Supreme-Grade Ability:

‎'Devour Evolution'

‎— under which any demon or beast the Host consumes,

‎its genes will automatically Awaken!

‎---

‎Five Years Later

‎"Come on, Ashok, time for lunch!"

‎It was his mother, Nitisha's, voice.

‎Ashok thought —

‎> "Yes… mother's name is Nitisha,

‎and grandfather's name is Vikrant."

‎He replied,

‎> "I'm coming, Mom, just after a bath.

‎My clothes are really dirty.

‎Come on, Grandpa, you should bathe too!"

‎Grandfather laughed and said —

‎> "Alright, let's go!"

‎Both of them began bathing near the small pool beside the garden.

‎Suddenly, a black-and-red glowing window appeared in midair —

‎> [Mission Completed!]

‎"You have completed the mission received five years ago.

‎Reward: Authority Unlock + 10 Points."

‎---

‎The Mission from Five Years Ago

‎> "The Host must gather basic information about this world within five years.

‎Reward:

‎1️⃣ Access to the Authority System

‎2️⃣ 10 Attribute Points"

‎---

‎During these five years, Ashok had learned much about Morphia.

‎Here, every person's Gene Evolution defines the path of their power.

‎Each awakened individual uses their ability differently —

‎some in combat, some in business, others in medicine.

‎Those who fail to awaken live ordinary lives —

‎like his mother and father.

‎---

‎Gene Grades and Ranks

‎Genes are divided into three main Grades —

‎1️⃣ Mortal Grade

‎Ranks: F → E → D

‎2️⃣ Half-Immortal Grade

‎Ranks: C → B → A

‎3️⃣ Immortal Grade

‎Rank: S (Supreme)

‎Grades cannot be changed,

‎but ranks can evolve.

‎For example, a person of F rank can evolve into E or D

‎by absorbing the blood of a demon.

‎Ashok's grandfather belonged to C Rank,

‎a Half-Immortal Grade being,

‎and his Tier was 5-Tier,

‎earning him the title "Junior Master."

‎Each Tier has 1 to 9 levels,

‎and a person's capability depends on their Gene Compatibility.

‎---

‎Ashok's First Status Panel

‎Back to the present —

‎Ashok said,

‎> "System, open Status Panel."

‎A metallic chime echoed,

‎and a blue screen appeared in the air.

‎Name: Ashok

‎Age: 7 years

‎Gender: Male

‎Hidden Ability: Devour Evolution (Grade – Supreme)

‎Strength: 0.6

‎Agility: 0.5

‎Available Points: 10

‎The system spoke —

‎> "Would the Host like to use the points?"

‎Ashok smiled —

‎> "Yes. Add 5 points to Strength and 5 to Agility."

‎The screen glowed —

‎blue lines of light flowed into his body.

‎Updated Status:

‎Strength: 1.1

‎Agility: 1.0

‎Points: 0

‎After distributing the points,

‎Ashok felt something strange within.

‎His body became stronger, lighter than ever.

‎Energy pulsed through every muscle —

‎as if a dormant power had awakened inside him.

‎He flexed his hands —

‎veins surfaced, warmth spreading across his body.

‎Ashok was amazed at the change he felt.

‎Before he could think further,

‎his mother's gentle voice came again —

‎> "Ashok beta! Come quickly after your bath,

‎lunch is ready!"

‎Hearing her voice, Ashok smiled —

‎> "Let's go, Grandpa. Let's get dressed and eat."

‎Grandfather chuckled and nodded —

‎> "Let's go, my boy!"

‎After bathing and dressing,

‎both went to the dining table.

‎Ashok respectfully pulled a chair for his grandfather,

‎then sat down himself.

‎Seeing this, his father Dhirendra's face

‎lit up with pride and happiness.

‎Mother Nitisha came from the kitchen with food,

‎serving everyone with care.

‎Ashok asked curiously —

‎> "Mom, what's for lunch today?"

‎She smiled —

‎> "Chicken, son. Your father brought it."

‎Father said —

‎> "Actually, I wanted to get Tier-1 beast meat,

‎but it was too expensive."

‎Ashok smiled —

‎> "That's okay, Dad. Chicken is great too.

‎The aroma alone tells me it's delicious."

‎Grandfather laughed loudly —

‎> "Enough talking, now eat!"

‎> "Yes, Grandpa!" — Ashok said cheerfully,

‎and took his first bite.

‎[System Notification!]

‎Host has devoured Chicken.

‎Processing Gene Sample...

‎Evolution Progress: 0.1%

‎---

‎The system's voice echoed —

‎> "You have devoured Chicken for the first time.

‎This creature is an ordinary animal, not a demon.

‎Therefore, to complete its Gene Integration,

‎you must double the percentage progress.

‎When the process reaches 100%,

‎your body will activate its first Evolution Form.

‎The creature you have devoured

‎will eventually evolve into an F-Rank Firebird."

‎---

‎Ashok stared at the system screen in astonishment.

‎> "So that means… in this world,

‎every single animal can gradually evolve into a demon…

‎and I can absorb their genes by devouring them!"

‎Even after the system closed, Ashok's mind couldn't calm down.

‎He looked at his plate — a few pieces were still left.

‎For a moment, he hesitated —

‎then a faint smile appeared on his face.

‎> "If eating this meat increases my Evolution Progress…"

‎"…then why not eat it all?"

‎---

‎With that thought, Ashok slowly finished

‎all the chicken pieces on his plate.

‎Each bite felt like fueling fire inside his body.

‎Right after finishing the food,

‎the system window flashed before him again —

‎> [System Notification!]

‎Chicken Evolution Progress: 3%

‎---

‎Ashok's eyes widened.

‎> "Three percent already!?

‎That means if I eat more, then…?"

‎He began thinking deeply —

‎> "If this continues,

‎I can devour ordinary animals

‎and gradually absorb their genes.

‎And when those creatures evolve into demons,

‎I'll already possess their genes."

‎He clenched his fist, determination burning within —

‎> "I've decided —

‎I'll start right now.

‎Until I turn eighteen,

‎I'll keep devouring normal animals.

‎And when I become an adult,

‎I'll evolve the creatures I've devoured into demons.

‎Then… my power will increase a thousandfold."

‎---

‎He smiled at the thought.

‎After finishing his meal, he went to his room

‎and lay down on his bed.

‎Slowly, his eyes closed.

‎The next few days passed in training and practice.

‎He woke up early every morning to strengthen himself,

‎and at night, he used the system

‎to sense the changes within his body.

‎Days went by —

‎and his Chicken Evolution Progress

‎gradually rose from 3% to 10%.

‎Now, his body held more energy and speed than ever before.

‎His eyes had become sharper,

‎and a faint flame-like aura flickered in his movements.

‎A few days later,

‎the system displayed another update —

‎---

‎[Status Window]

‎Name: Ashok

‎Age: 7 Years

‎Gender: Male

‎Hidden Ability: Devour Evolution (Grade - Supreme)

‎Strength: 1.6

‎Agility: 1.5

‎Available Points: 0

‎Chicken Evolution Progress: 15.6%

‎Devourer's Hunt

‎Days had passed since Ashok's last meal and training.

‎His body now felt stronger than before,

‎yet he sensed that his progress was still far too slow.

‎> "Looks like I'll have to start hunting real beasts now…"

‎he muttered quietly, sitting on his bed.

‎Slowly, the night deepened.

‎The clock struck 12:30 AM.

‎The moon hung half-lit in the sky, and silence blanketed the air.

‎Suddenly, Ashok's door creaked open.

‎A faint shadow slipped out —

‎and it was none other than Ashok himself.

‎His speed had already surpassed human limits.

‎When he ran, the wind seemed to race alongside him.

‎Within moments, he was nearly 500 kilometers away from his village,

‎heading toward a vast mountain —

‎a mountain that loomed like a demonic giant beneath the dark sky.

‎Even a twenty-year-old man would have trembled in fear upon reaching that place.

‎But Ashok… his eyes gleamed only with the light of the hunt.

‎After three hours of relentless running,

‎he reached the foothills of the mountain.

‎All around was heavy silence —

‎until his eyes caught sight of a few white rabbits darting through the woods.

‎They leapt swiftly, disappearing deeper into the darkness of the mountain.

‎A smirk appeared on Ashok's lips.

‎> "Perfect for a start…

‎these will be my first prey."

‎He lunged forward, chasing them.

‎But soon he realized —

‎these weren't ordinary rabbits.

‎Their hearing was razor sharp,

‎and the moment they sensed a pursuer,

‎they turned and attacked Ashok instead!

‎Their movements were lightning-fast.

‎Ashok leapt side to side, dodging every strike with ease.

‎> "So they're not ordinary… they're hunter rabbits."

‎Their crimson eyes glowed fiercely,

‎and they attacked in perfect coordination.

‎Ashok studied their rhythm,

‎preparing for a counterstrike.

‎Moments later, he surged forward —

‎so fast that the rabbits couldn't even perceive his motion anymore.

‎Panic spread among them.

‎Some fell back,

‎while others sacrificed their own to protect the rest —

‎a deadly defensive maneuver.

‎Ashok noticed one particularly large rabbit

‎fleeing deeper into the mountain.

‎He locked onto it and sprinted after it with full force.

‎After a brief chase,

‎he picked up a fallen wooden branch from the ground

‎and hurled it with all his strength —

‎the branch pierced straight through the rabbit's neck.

‎The creature collapsed instantly.

‎Ashok approached the body,

‎gathered dry twigs from around,

‎and lit a small fire.

‎Within minutes, the rabbit's flesh was cooked.

‎Ashok began to eat it slowly.

‎As soon as the first bite slid down his throat,

‎a sharp crackling sound echoed —

‎"Krrrack…"

‎A glowing rift tore through the air,

‎and a system window materialized before him —

‎> [System Notification!]

‎Host has devoured a Rabbit.

‎Evolution Progress: +0.1%

‎"You have devoured a rabbit.

‎Once progress reaches 100%,

‎this creature will evolve into a Joint Rabbit Demon.

‎Host's gene evolution will grow exponentially stronger."

‎The system's voice faded away,

‎but a faint smile lingered on Ashok's face.

‎He stood up, looked at the moonlit sky, and whispered —

‎> "Tonight… my goal is simple —

‎to hunt three beasts."

‎Hours later,

‎Ashok had ventured deep into the mountain.

‎The place was darker, more sinister than before.

‎Towering trees, dense shrubs, and a chilling silence —

‎as if some unseen force had commanded every living thing to be quiet.

‎Suddenly, his gaze fell upon a massive shadow.

‎It stirred.

‎And in that instant, Ashok realized —

‎this wasn't any common beast.

‎It was a Prime Beast.

‎Prime Beasts stood above all others —

‎far stronger than wild beasts or mutated creatures.

‎Normal beasts → Wild beasts → and at the very top — Prime beasts.

‎They were the kings of the mountains.

‎Ashok's breath froze.

‎The sight before him was a waking nightmare.

‎A gigantic serpent slithered out —

‎so huge its height surpassed the trees!

‎Its body was as thick as ancient trunks,

‎and its eyes burned like molten embers.

‎Ashok murmured under his breath —

‎> "A serpent this massive… what is it doing here?"

‎But he had no time to think.

‎The serpent's gaze locked onto him.

‎In the very next moment,

‎its colossal tail swung through the air with earth-shattering force!

‎THA–DOOOM!

‎The ground quaked violently.

‎Five or six trees shattered in an instant.

‎Ashok barely dodged by leaping aside.

‎His breathing grew heavy.

‎Before he could regain his stance,

‎the serpent opened its mouth and spewed toxic gas —

‎so deadly that the leaves nearby began to burn and curl.

‎Ashok felt the air tighten in his chest — death was seconds away.

‎But then he grabbed a broken tree beside him,

‎using it as a makeshift shield.

‎The same tree the serpent had crushed moments earlier —

‎now became his lifeline.

‎He darted left and right,

‎narrowly avoiding each lethal strike.

‎His eyes tracked the serpent's movements carefully —

‎and soon, he noticed a pattern.

‎It took the serpent 10 to 20 seconds

‎to gather poison for its next breath.

‎> "So that's my opening,"

‎he thought sharply.

‎Ashok's gaze locked onto another giant tree,

‎half uprooted from one of the serpent's previous blows.

‎He ran toward it and tried to pull it free —

‎but his strength wasn't yet enough.

‎The trunk was far too heavy for his current power.

‎Suddenly, the serpent lunged again!

‎Ashok dropped the tree instantly,

‎rolling into the nearby bushes just in time.

‎The serpent's tail sliced the air —

‎its edge brushing through his hair.

‎If he had moved even a second slower,

‎he would have been crushed.

‎> "It's powerful… but not stupid."

‎A spark of realization flashed through Ashok's mind.

‎He scanned the surroundings —

‎on the slope of the mountain stood three massive trees,

‎forming a shape like a triangle.

‎A plan struck him instantly.

‎He darted ahead, forcing the serpent to follow him,

‎and stopped right between those trees.

‎Now the serpent was trapped in that path —

‎a kind of natural snare.

‎The serpent struck,

‎Ashok leapt aside,

‎the trees swayed violently and tangled with each other.

‎Now the serpent was tightly caught in that spot.

‎Ashok was drenched in sweat,

‎but there was a gleam of victory in his eyes.

‎> "Just a little longer…"

‎He kept circling around the trees,

‎further entangling the serpent.

‎The three trunks now coiled tightly

‎around its tail and massive body.

‎If even one of those trees snapped —

‎either the serpent or Ashok himself

‎would meet a violent end.

‎And then—

‎"Grrrraaaaarhhhhhh!!!"

‎A monstrous roar echoed through the mountains.

‎The ground trembled.

‎Birds burst into the sky,

‎and a heavy vibration filled the air.

‎Ashok looked up, trembling —

‎that roar did not belong to the serpent.

‎Somewhere deep within the mountain,

‎another being had awakened…

‎something even more powerful than the serpent itself.

‎Layers of darkness began to stir,

‎roots quivered,

‎and the air thickened with something far beyond fear —

‎pure terror.

‎In an instant, the entire forest fell silent.

‎No creature made a sound —

‎no birds, no insects —

‎only the echo of heavy breathing remained.

‎"Haaaarrrrr…"

‎The breath rumbled like the growl of a mountain itself.

‎Ashok looked up —

‎dust was rising from the peak,

‎and through the trees,

‎a gigantic shadow descended.

‎Its shape slowly took form.

‎First came the claws —

‎black, enormous, and sharp as forged steel.

‎Then the fangs —

‎gleaming crimson under the moonlight,

‎large enough to swallow half a man in one bite.

‎It was a wolf —

‎but not an ordinary one.

‎Its height exceeded ten feet,

‎its body made entirely of raw muscle.

‎Its eyes glowed a deep, blood-red,

‎as if it were drawing in souls with every breath.

‎Dark stripes ran across its fur,

‎and faint blue light pulsed through them —

‎each inhale made the air around it heavier, denser.

‎Ashok spoke in a trembling voice —

‎> "A demon beast…"

‎That was the name his grandfather once told him —

‎> "A fourth-rank creature… one that stands

‎at the brink of becoming a true demon.

‎Its body no longer belongs to man or beast."

‎The energy radiating from its body

‎was so thick that nearby trees began to wither,

‎leaves falling and turning to ash on the ground.

‎The earth beneath Ashok's feet quaked.

‎He tried to steady himself,

‎but his breathing had grown sharp and heavy.

‎Yet in his eyes —

‎there was no fear.

‎Only a strange curiosity.

‎> "So this… is true power?"

‎he whispered to himself.

‎The demon wolf began to move toward him,

‎each step cracking the ground beneath its weight.

‎Its claws dug deep enough

‎to split stone itself.

‎It bent low, sniffing
