Elora woke up to a silent room.
The cabin was dark, and the fire that had been burning earlier was now reduced to faint embers, the cold air made her lungs hurt as she breathed.
Wanting some water, she turned instinctively toward the other side of the bed to ask her self-acclaimed guard to help her get some water.
But the sheets were cold and empty.
Her blurry eyes cleared.
She sat herself upright, using her eyes to scan the small room again as if Azazeal might suddenly emerge from the shadows.
He didn't. She was all alone, which was something that had never happened since they started this journey.
His warmth that envelopes her through the night was absent, and the chilly room made a frown appear between her brows.
A strange unease curled in her chest.
Where could he be? … Was he uncomfortable sleeping in here?
