Time : Back in the chapter "Justice League Meeting"
Deep in space, two green lanterns have beens sent by the lantern corp to investigate the newly rising Viltrum Empire who destroyed the Reach by visiting one of their vassal planets.
Five teams of lanterns with each made up of two have been sent to five difdereng vassal planet of the Viltrum empire.
One of the team is made of the new earth green Lantern Hal Jordan and the veteran green lantern Sinestro.
Silence continued as they near their destination before Hall finally couldn't stand it anymore.
"Okay Sinestro what is your problem with me, pall ? You seem to be awfully silent ever since we started this mission. Heck you bearly even talk to me when you were suppose to train me ! Look I know you got a problem with that John Stewart guy who is also a human lantern but I barely know the guy" Said Hal to Sinestro with an annoyed face.
Sinestro was quiet for a while before finally answering.
"So what ? You are human and I don't like it. Please shut your mouth now, we are about to arrive !" Answered Sinestro with a monotone tone in his voice.
"Okay PALL ! First of all that is not fair. That is like if I don't like one of your weird pink skin spesies and start hating you who got nothing to do with it !" Said Hal with a sarcastic tone.
"That is actually quite common so better get use to it !" Answered Sinestero with the same monotone voice.
Silence came once again to the duo. Soon they reach their destination.
One of the vassal of the Viltrum empire, the empire rulled by some sort of Living Planet.
As they arrive they made their presence noticed.
Sinestro use his ring to create a huge green lantern symbol. Then he created some sort of voice amplifier to announce their presence.
"PEOPLE OF THE VILTRUM EMPIRE. WE THE GREEN LANTERNS HAVE COME TO INVESTIGATE YOUR ANNIHILATION OF THE REACH CIVILIZATION. PLEASE COMPLY TO OUR REQUEST OR FACE THE CONSEQUENCES !"
The answer was immediate.
Three Viltumites arrieved in front of them with lighting speed.
"Oh ? Why should we do that ?" Asked one of viltrimites who has a mustache as he wondered why these two idiots think it's a good idea to provoke them
SINESTRO dead. Ring flew away
"We are part of the green lantern corp dedicated in protecting and mantaining the balance of the universe. It will be wise of you to do what we say !" Answered Sinastro with an arrogant attitude.
"I see. Then will you first grant one of my request ?" Asked the viltrumite with the mustache politely.
"Request ? What request do you have ?" Asked Hal curiously.
"Please die." Said the viltrumite with the mustache as the smile on his face was wiped away and a weird glint appeared in his eyes.
"Exuse me did I hear you right ?" Asked Hal as he thought that he must have heard it wrong.
Just then Sinestro suddenlly shoot one of the Viltrumites who tried to attack him. Only for the viltrumite to dodge and another to try to hit his face.
Just then Hall was attacked by the viltrumite in the mustache. Unfortunatelly due to his low combat experiece, the viltrumite manage to land a hit on him. This hit slam him into a meteor causing him to be immobile for a while.
However instead of finishing the job with Hal. The viltrumite with the mustache look to Sinestro who manage to fight both of his brother though barely.
He is trully worthy of being the most powerfull lantern in the universe before the arrival of John Stewart.
Not wanting to waste more time. While Sinestro was busy keeping up with the other two viltrumites. The viltrumite with the mustache appeared behind Sinestro and punch his hand through Sinestro's chest, pulling out his alien heart.
As Sinestro died. The three viltrumite notice a green blur and noticed that Hal is escaping.
This cause them to try to run after Hal which gave the ring in Sinestro to escape and begin it's search for a new wielder.
Meanwhile, Hal noticing the three viltrumites who were after him felt his life is trully in danger. He poured his very soul into his lantern ring making him faster.
Soon Hal manage to escape into a planet and hide himself there causing the three viltrumite to lost track of him.
As Hal finally felt safe he notice his ring is critically drained. Leaving him stranded on this planet.
Soon time flew by, Hal was still traped in this planet
Unfortunately for him, life on this planet is nearly nonexistent. Luckily his ring with the tiny battery life ledt still kept him alive though barely. If he doesn't do anything, when the battery dies then Hall will die too.
Minutes turned into hours. Hours turned into days. Days turned into weeks.
Hal felt it has been eternity. Hal felt hungry, pain, and most of all he felt fear. He fear to what would happen to his girlfriend if his gone. He fear what would his mother and brother do. He fear that he will dissapear in this world without leaving any meaningfull legacy.
His fear became his will. His will to survive and as his fear grew, something deep within the planet awakened.
This planet, the planet where Hal has been stranded. It holds proto-emotional spectrum fracture.
Hal's fear has awakened it and with it, huis ring started charging slowly. Perhaps due to Hal's fear, the proto-emotional spectrum fracture started transforming into fear.
And perhaps the ring which was being charge with fear echoed with the monster hidden in the huge lantern battery back in OA due to it's very tiny connection.
Soon Hal noticed something. His ring started becoming yellow and as it did. Hal also felt the power is charging. It was then he notice the proto-emotional spectrum fracture deep in this planet that glew a yellow light.
As he did, Hal felt something. He put his ring into the proto-emotional spectrum fracture and said an oath that suddenlly appeared in his mind.
"In blackest day,
in brightest night,
beware your fears made into light!
Let those who try to stop what's right
burn like my power—Parallax's might!"
Yellow glow started apearjng around Hal as his green lantern suit started transforming. Soon Hal was rebirth. He became the first Yellow Lantern.
Hal didn't know who Parallax is. But the name was etch deep within his soul.
With his newfound power he look at the proto-emotional spectrum fracture that now seem to scream fear.
It reminded him of the giant green lantern battery in OA. So Hal use his fear.
Hal use his fear to mold it. Shape it. Tranform it.
Soon the proto-emotional spectrum fracture transformed into the Yellow Lantern Battery of the Yellow Lantern Corp.
